The Westin Fort Lauderdale Beach Resort is celebrated for its prime beachfront location and cleanliness, with guests often lauding the well-maintained rooms and public spaces. While some travelers enjoy the updated rooms with ocean views, others have faced issues with outdated accommodations and noise. Numerous guests appreciate the hotel's lively atmosphere and amenities, such as the dining options and pool area, but the value proposition is questioned due to steep resort fees and perceived gaps in service quality.

The purpose for this trip was to celebrate my husband's 40th birthday. When we arrived, we were greeted by friendly staff and the wait to be taken care of at the front desk was not terrible. Melva was amazing! When she saw that my room was not ready, she immediately apologized and quickly found a comparable room that was ready. When I explained to her that we were there for my husband's birthday and I had planned for a special surprise to be in the original room, she worked her "Melva magic" and was able to get us a room upgrade free of charge! In addition, she gave us two free drink passes for Lona, the on-site restaurant, along with the regular free drink and dessert vouchers and promised that my surprise will be brought to our new room.

Our room was in the South Tower, so we had to walk over the connection bridge, passing by the in-house coffee shop and the pool/bar. Once we arrived at our room, we were pleasantly surprised by the beautiful ocean-front view that greeted us! The room was very clean and nicely lit. It had a connecting door, but we locked it and put our suitcase in front of it for added measure. Unfortunately, the surprise did not make it to the new room, and when I spoke with Alfredo, another rock star employee, he apologized profusely and sent up a small cake, a bottle of champagne, and a card from the Westin Team wishing my husband a happy birthday! We both really appreciated this gesture!

Once we were settled, we took our drink vouchers and headed to Lona. While the inside was beautifully designed, the real action was outside on their patio facing A1A and the ocean. The food was delicious and the drinks were creative and tasty! I really loved the churros, which were fresh and generously battered in cinnamon sugar. On the last day, my husband decided that he wanted to lounge by the pool, which was well maintained. We went early in the morning, so there were lots of chairs available, and picking up a towel was not a hassle. Check out was easy and the bill was accurate.

Pros: Magic Melva and Alfredo! View from our room, the cake/champagne/card, Lona, Valet service (did not have to wait long for our car). Hotel was very clean and organized; all amenities were available and not closed or under construction.

Areas for Improvement: Bath Soap was not refilled. Ice machine on my floor was not working, so I had to go to two floors to find a working ice machine. The adjoining room had some noisy tenants; it wasn't ear splitting, and I know that the hotel can only do so much, but I did wish they were a little quieter.

Special thanks to Magic Mevla and Alfredo for making this little staycation/birthday a wonderful and memorable experience! Definitely on my list for consideration for our 5 year anniversary next June!

The good: A couples trip for the weekend. The location is unbeatable. Very clean. Friendly service. Multiple restaurants on property that are delicious. Large property. Towels, beach chairs and pool chairs all included in resort fee. Very clean and large gym with Two peloton bikes. We stayed in an ocean view room which was worth the extra upcharge. It was large and the view was incredible. We could watch the sunrise over the beach and ocean every morning from the room. The king bed was luxurious and comfortable. There was a couch, large TV, and desk in the room too. Walkway across to the beach from pool deck for ease and safety. The hotel was quiet at night. Our room was across from the elevators and there was NO noise from the hallway that came into the room. Check in was easy.

The not so good: The spa was under renovation. The valet parking was very expensive $55/night. The refrigerator in our room didn’t work (so they brought another one to us to use so that was good). The bathroom doors were slatted so noise and smells from the bathroom were not contained. The bathroom in the room could use a bit of an upgrade - the faucets were older and the water pressure was so-so. The main door to the room was heavy and slammed when it shut.

Over all: we will definitely be back for another weekend getaway.

From the moment we stepped through the hotel doors an incredibly calming air just came over us. We were immediately greeted by Bonvoy representative, Rica, who was so charming and courteous that we instantly felt welcomed. I was traveling with a friend and colleague who lives in Pittsburgh and doesn’t get to ever see the Floridian sun, Rica made sure her room had view of the ocean and gave us a pretty thorough rundown of the hotel layout and the restaurants and bars. She was amazing and was a great start to our stay.
There is a beautiful live wall jut before the Lona restaurant that give the hotel modern earthy feel that makes a beautiful companion to the ocean right cross. The hotel is perfectly located with a beautiful ocean view almost from any area in the hotel including from the Starbucks that has a very nice deck area to stare at the waves and the clear blue skies. Unfortunately, I was incredibly windy and a little chillier than usual for South Florida so we were unable to swim, but we were still able to sit out on the beach with our drink and enjoy the salty air.
Everyone around the hotel was very friendly and we had a great time. It was clean and we had everything we needed, if anything was forgotten, there is a gift shop of course for little things you might have forgotten. The spa looked very relaxing and had a good variety of treatment options although we did not get to use it this time around. I would definitely stay here again, overall it was great value for money in comparison to some of the other hotels on that strip.
Special thank you to Rica at Bonvoy for starting us off right!

I expected better based on the name. I was in the south tower and it is very dated. The toilet was clogged, the deadbolt was broken and the thermostat did not work. They fixed the toilet immediately, the rest was not fixed during my stay. The worst part was the bathroom! There is no vent fan, but they put a window with a shutter into the sleeping area and a shutter door. As for privacy, not so much. Anything you did could be heard and smelled in the rest of the room.

Stayed for an onsite conference for four nights in the south tower (1418). Room was okay, however sink would not drain, took over 10 minutes to get hot water into the room each morning or evening for a shower.

Room cleanliness was concerning and asked housekeeping to change the sheets on the first night. They clearly were not changed from the previous guest.

On the fourth night, one of the elevators in the south tower was out of service and took forever to arrive.

The valet parking is another story and do not recommend. At $55/night and staff was not very friendly. Witnessed them driving my car at higher speeds than they should in a parking garage. The EV charger does not charge at the speed advertised 11.5kw and charged less than 7kw/hr. The cost was ridiculous costing $4/hr. Hotel manager advised that the garage/valet is run by a third party and didn’t seem to care.

Most likely the last time I stay, even if it’s the conference hotel.

Most notably, the challenges you encountered with the room cleanliness, valet services, EV chargers and the elevators. I have shared your feedback to the appropriate leadership teams for further review internally. This is not the level of service we have been known to provide and is disconcerting to hear. Family had an excellent 2 night stay here, pre-cruise. The beds were very comfortable and room was very clean. Partial ocean view room had a sliding window so you can hear the ocean waves. There is an overpass walkway at the pool level that goes directly to the beach and has key card elevator, so no need to cross the street in flip flops. Pool was very nice also. Shanique at pool level was very entertaining during the rain. Also, front desk was very friendly and helpful at checkout, forgot her name, but she had a British accent and loved to travel. Uber/cab from airport was approx $30 and to cruise port was $25, both easy and quick trips. Short walk from hotel to Casablanca Cafe which was excellent dinner! Would definitely return!

After two weeks of chasing sunsets on Florida's Gulf Coast we pulled into the valet garage at the Westin Fort Lauderdale Beach Resort to spend the last few days of our Florida sojourn. Herson and Irene greeted us at check-in and gave us a basic, but appreciated primer on where things are in the large resort property. We had a great ocean view king room on the 11th floor that looked right out at the Atlantic and below us to the pool deck on the mezzanine level. The three elevators in the main lobby handled the hotel traffic very well as we never had to wait for long when we summoned one. Our amenities included refrigerator, safe, coffee/tea maker, sitting area, usb chargers and cable tv. There was a nice walk in shower. The hotel itself offers an excellent fitness center with treadmills, stationary cycles, free weights and machines for working specific muscle groups. A spacious pool deck is on the mezzanine level with Waves, an outdoor bar, and there is a private pedestrian sky bridge from the hotel mezzanine that crosses the road to the beach. Inside on the mezzanine there's the Lavazza Cafe, where you can stock up on refreshments for your day/night. In the hotel lobby and on the street level you will find Lona Cocina Tequileria, a great place to chill and sample some fine Mexican cuisine. Though we were there for pleasure and not business I will add that I walked around the conference areas and facilities and this Westin has plenty of capacity. This Resort is convenient to the Ft Lauderdale Int'l Airport (15 minutes)
and other eating and drinking options. The valet crew is funny and friendly and they'll have your car to you in no time. The Westin Ft Lauderdale Beach Resort staff treated us royally and it was a great spot to close our S Florida vacation!

The Good:

The outside bar staff and food/cocktails are amazing. Great views of the ocean and Fort Lauderdale Beach. Lots of great restaurants and bars in walking distance.

The Bad:
We stayed 3 nights - no housekeeping at all. Saw one housekeeper on our floor but she never stopped. Called the front desk each day they assured us they would come to make-up the room never did. Had to call everyday for fresh towels as a result. We finally got escalated to a "manager" who told us they are too busy and the hotel is at capacity. So be warned if you expect to get typical service around housekeeping you need to stay somewhere else.

We stayed here pre-cruise then had 3 more nights here post-cruise which we cancelled and we re-booked at the Ritz-Carlton at a marginal increase and got twice a day room make-up without any issues.

We spent 3 nights here after coming off a cruise ship. We had a few problems with the hotel but I would firstly like to say that the staff were great and did there best to sort out the issues. They were very friendly and helpful.

Our first room was very poor. We had no view (just roof of another building) and the window was filthy. Door into the bathroom is no more than a shutter which offers no privacy and even this was broken. The room smelled very musty. After speaking to reception they kindly offered us a free upgrade (we were on our honeymoon) to a sea view room. This room was much bigger, had an amazing view but still the same shutter doors on the bathroom and a very strange "window" looking into the bedroom from the bathroom - no privacy at all!

The Resort Fee entitles you to sun loungers on the beach and at the pool. Our first visit to the beach we were told there were no loungers left unless we wanted to pay an additional $30 for one with an umbrella! Second day the pool was closed early for a "private function so we had to leave. When we asked about this, our Resort Fee was kindly refunded.

The hotel is very noisy. We could hear everything from the room next door and out in the corridor. We were woken up at 6.15 on our last morning with someone vacuuming in the corridor!

Also, be prepared for the $75 per day being taken out of your bank account for "incidentals". This is refunded after you leave but were not made aware of this at the time.

I am sorry to say that other than the friendly, understanding and kind staff, we did not have the best stay here.

I would highly recommend this hotel if you are going to be in the Fort Lauderdale area! For my stay I booked the partial ocean view room, and it was beyond gorgeous. Everything about the ambience of the hotel is very nice and goes along with the beach theme. It’s in a perfect location as it’s right in the heart of Fort Lauderdale, there are restaurants within walking distance and the beach is directly across the street.

Unfortunately because I was only there for a couple of nights and pretty busy I didn’t get time to use the pool but it looked very relaxing. There is also a coffee bar so you can grab coffee, some food, or whatever you need.

Everybody who I interacted with was very friendly and answered all of my questions.

The only downside I would say was in terms of room service, the food was somewhat mediocre for the price. The first night I ordered room service after a very long travel day and afterwards I felt like I wish I just went out. Of course it’s about convenience, but in my personal opinion the food was just alright.

However, there is a Mexican restaurant restaurant attached to the hotel that I did have a lunch at and it was absolutely delicious. They were very attentive, and the food was excellent.

The only other downside is that because the hotel is very big you might have to walk a bit of a distance to get to your room. For my personal room I had to walk through lobby, take one elevator to the mezzanine floor, then walk through another section to get another elevator to take to floor. Obviously that can’t really be controlled though because of the amount of rooms it has it’s not necessarily anything that the hotel is doing wrong, just a note.

All in all it was a wonderful day! Would recommend.
