Ambiance 5/5: The resort is so serene. It is almost shocking that so many families visit this resort because it is consistently peaceful. You would expect it to be noisy with screaming kids, but somehow it isn't! Every view is stunning, and every pool is immaculate. The beach is beautiful, and the hotel makes sure to take advantage of the fabulous ocean views. Even areas not overlooking the ocean are stunning. Beautiful trees, carefully designed lights, there is so much thought put into this resort.
Food 5/5: The resort really shines when it comes to food. There are SO many restaurants, and each one we tried was phenomenal. We really never had a single bad meal. We honestly never even had a single good meal, we only had phenomenal meals. Not only was the food excellent, but every restaurant was beautiful as well! The food was truly fantastic, and I love that we didn't even try them all!
Room 4/5: We stayed in the Cloisters. The room was spacious and well appointed. It was spotless, and the bed was very comfortable. We found the following minor issues: there was nowhere near enough light. The entire room had a single lamp. They really need to invest in more lighting. Another minor issue was slight noise from outside and poor views from the room.
Service: Every single time we interacted with an employee, we were impressed. The service at the pools, beach, restaurants, and front desk was phenomenal. They went above and beyond to make us feel pampered. They also treated my 9 month old with absolute respect. Any request we had, no matter how ridiculous, was met. We sometimes had more difficult requests regarding our baby (moving tables in a way to fit her better or bringing her food out a bit faster since she can't wait), and not once were we made to feel like we were being difficult.
We are already looking to book our next trip for later this year, we cannot wait to come back!
As a whole the experience has to be framed by the overall cost: 800-1800 per night plus taxes plus resort fees plus dining. Likely easily 1,200-2,200 per night per room placing it as one as the most expensive and exclusive hotels in North America. For that the experience is lack luster. While other resorts of this kind make an effort to be one step ahead of your needs, The Boca Raton is at best 5 steps behind.
Lows:
Below average food quality and service.
Overworked staff with no personal service. No one cared to know our name or our needs. Several mistakes made by staff where promises made to correct the issues where in the end NOTHING was done to correct the situation.
Uncomfortable interiors. The Beach Club lobby is as cold as a meat locker..
Like can see your breath level cold…also lighting is dark and morgue like.
The Good:
Housekeeping was great.
Rooms and facilities are immaculate and nice touches are left in your room. Eye glass cleaner clothes left next to glasses, cord minders are left to help organize phone cords…very Impressed.
On the whole you do not get what you are paying for.
I feel like I paid for wagyu and got ground chuck.
Looking forward to the canned, “so glad you enjoyed….” Response.
Staff attentiveness and professionalism = 2/10
Food quality and taste = 0/10
Price = excessive
This was a business trip and it was terrible. The room I had reserved many months in advance was supposed to be in the main building, but ended being in a building located about 10 minute driving distance away via the hotel shuttle. No one had bothered to provide an update (or most of the people I spoke with) of the location change, so I was extremely surprised by this change. The food at all the restaurants I tried was either not salted at all or over salted and alway lacking in flavor. The price for anything and everything was as if for a 3 Michelin star experience (which I do not have any problem paying for) but at a "no fork" quality. I cannot stress enough how indescribably bad the food was everywhere and how untrained the waiters were at the 4 restaurants I ate at. The hotel staff was pleasant enough but not attentive and utterly inefficient. The room I stayed in was spacious but the morning after the conference ended I was surprised to wake up to no hot water in the morning at 7:00 AM. The hot water came on on its own 10 minutes after calling the main desk leading me to believe that they had turned it off. The TV setup was inadequate and with only a handful of channels available. I expected to have a lovely experience in a beautiful location, but ended feeling trapped for 5 days. I cannot remember ever having such a disappointing experience in what is supposed to be one of the best hotels in the country.
All restaurants seemed very disorganized with long waits and the resort did not seem to have proper staffing for a high occupancy rate.
The pool was extremely crowded and difficult to get chairs but surprisingly good service from the staff given the large crowds. My wife had a spa treatment and said this was a nice experience. Unfortunately the bad heavily outweighs the good here so better off staying elsewhere because you will not see the value for prices paid. The resort recognized the poor service by offering a half night refund of a 5 night stay but that was not enough in my opinion for the poor experience. Do not be fooled by their clever marketing!
