We enjoyed 3 lovely nights at the lodge at the end of 3 weeks in Tanzania. It was like the icing on the cake. The grounds are peaceful, butterflies everywhere and so nice to watch the animals in the dam and in the trees. Harry & Kim are the new owners and are making upgrades and repairs though it is already such a pleasant place. They are really friendly and took time to chat with us and find out about our life and how they could make our stay better. My mum was unwell and they allowed us a late afternoon check-out on our last day to make our life easier. You could not find nicer staff. From Housekeepers & gardeners to waitpersons & reception staff they only want to make your day better and who go out of their way to be kind and friendly. The rooms can be a little on the warm side but Harry & Kim are looking at ways to improve this in a way that does not negatively impact the ecology.. you have to respect that. Thank you…
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Mount Meru Game Lodge. The staff were so friendly and they are incredible with children. I got to sleep in some mornings as my children would happily head to breakfast by themselves - I would eventually join them and enjoy a delicious cup of Kilimanjaro Coffee ( Which I couldn't resist purchasing some beans from the lodge's shop to take back home) We also enjoyed the variety of food and the great vegetarian options. The restaurant has a view of the watering hole with the Water Buffalo and Zonkeys (a Donkey and Zebra mix) in clear sight. Whilst a variety of monkeys play in the trees above. There are a few day trips one can take from the lodge. We chose to go to the Arusha National park which was a wonderful experience. The friendly Usa River Village is a short walk away and we got to experience the colourful Tanzanian markets. I highly recommend Mount Meru Gamed Lodge , we are already planning when we can go again.…
I stayed at this lodge for one night before my safari, and for another day and a half after my safari. We got there very late on our first night, and the staff waited for us, and still served us dinner even though it was past dinner time. They were very accommodating. Rooms are very nice, and feels warm and romantic. The best part of this hotel is the grounds . Absolutely beautiful! Wonderful and well tended gardens, animals such as the Columbus monkies, water Buffalos, Zebras, birds etc. There's a beautiful pool, but we didn't use it. Food was always delicious, and plentiful. I had a hamburger ordered for lunch a few hours before checking out, and it was huge and yummy. Met the owners, Harry and Kim. Two delightful people. They spoke regularly to their guests, and made you feel welcome. They seemed like such a nice couple. You can tell they are proud of their business, and working so hard to make it comfortable for guests. Best wishes to them. I would recommend some renovations in some of the bathrooms. It didn't spoil my experience, just something that should be done in the near future. An overall great experience at the Mt. Meru Game Lodge. I hope to visit again sometime, this time with my 2 kids. …
I stayed at the lodge for four days after going a 4 day safari. People here make you feel so welcome and were very accommodating. I asked for a late departure. The food was very good as well. I couldn't stop taking pictures of the animals around the pond.
We went on a family trip to Tanzania and this was our first stop. Arriving late, with very hungry teenage boys, we were greeted by smiling, welcoming staff, a warm bonfire, and treated to a delicious feast. The rooms are large, the beds are so comfortable and the setting ideal with our own watering hole with buffalo and zebra. The sound of cicadas, the colobus moneys, the beautiful lush gardens and wonderful pool meant we could relax and unwind. We went on a few trips: to a lake, Arusha national park and a Maasai village. We spent a lovely Xmas here, kids played football, they swam and we all loved the food. The staff were friendly and helpful. The place is well cared for and clean. A wonderful place that we will definitely go back to. Thank you Harry and Kim! Justine
Harry,Kim snd their team are living in paradise. Comfortable clean rooms open up onto a patio where we enjoyed Kilimanjaro coffee watching the colobus monkeys circus in the giant trees above. Water buffalo chill in their dam cooling of . We did the same in the picturesque pool after a long day of sightseeing.. The pizzas are scrumptious but the day always starts with a wholesome breakfast. Thank you team Mt Meru lodge
I can't say enough fabulous things about this place. Incredible service started at the moment I made the booking. I booked this place with the aim of spending a couple of quiet days to chill and relax. My intent to relax was fulfilled with quiet reading and napping by the pool, watching the various animals go about their activities and a nice glass of wine. The grounds are incredibly serene and tranquil and the gardens are well groomed. There are plenty of nooks and hideaway places for quiet spots and privacy that I didn't even realise there were other guests. The lodge has a nice bar/lounge area if you want an inside place to sit and read or chat with others. I had meals at the lodge both days and found a good variety to choose from and the taste was fantastic. Harry and his staff ensured that my every need was met - even ones I didn't know I had! My suite had all of the amenities that were necessary and was a cozy place to sleep at night. I arranged a massage on my second day and was quite pleased with the treatment and care I recieved - especially for the reasonable price! This lodge has a rich history and there are tons of photos of the family and lodge in its early years. I travel to Tanzania at least once a year and Harry's lodge will always be on my list to stay for respite!…
Mt. Meru Game Lodge came highly recommended to us by friends as an ideal stopover on our way to safari, and we couldn't have been happier with our stay. On the grounds of its own private game reserve with a pedigreed history, it has everything you could wish for--restful rooms, delicious food, happy staff, and truly inspiring hosts. There is a real sense of community and purpose here. Plus, monkeys overhead! We loved it.
Spent 2 nights here either side of Safari, was the perfect stop. Great staff, food, location and swimming pool. No to mention Zonkeys and Buffalo, and view of Mt Kilimanjaro on a good day. Had lovely guided walk through the local village as well. Will be back!
We just came back from Tanzania, having spent 5 days at the Mount Meru Game Lodge. We had an amazing stay and it was the perfect place to land and settle in before we left on a 5 day safari. The owners and staff were amazing, as was the food , pool, and overall setting. We enjoyed our days there and also making little side trips nearby. Cannot recommend this place highly enough.
