After a long journey a 2 night stay at Hamerkop House was just what was needed to recover, relax and rejuvenate.

We received a very warm welcome followed by tea and coffee served out on the covered veranda area and we immediately felt very much at home.
The spacious on-suite rooms were very comfortable and very tastefully decorated, the attached outside shower and bath area was a very nice added touch. Travelling with family the set-up of the rooms and the shared lounge area in the centre worked perfectly.
The food was excellent and we appreciated the chef tailoring the menu to accommodate our food preferences and allergies.

From start to finish Omary, Moi, Masuri went out of their way to make sure our every need was met and made us feel very much at home.

We would highly recommend a stay at Hamerkop House to anyone travelling through Arusha.

I was fortunate enough to stay at Hamerkop House in Arusha earlier this month while on a safari trip arranged for me by Piper and Heath, travel agents based in San Diego, CA.

I was greeted on arrival by Debra and Omari, who made me feel at home immediately. My accommodations were huge, a very large bedroom, incredible private bath (including outdoor shower and bath as well as indoor), and a dressing room that could have been a separate suite. Everything was very clean and comfortable.

From Hamerkop House it's a pleasant drive to Arusha National Park, a small but beautiful area that is the only location where you can see Colobus monkeys in their natural habitat.

The food at Hamerkop House was amazing, every meal was something to look forward to. I had a lot of fun talking to Omari and Derba, such kind people. I highly recommend Hamerkop House for either the starting location for a safari, or the final leg before going home. It's a very restful place following a long plane journey, but would it would be equally nice to catch your breath there before starting the even longer journey home.

Thank you, Debra amd Omari, for helping my safari get off to a flying start!

After a very long day and a half of traveling we arrived at Hamerkop well after 9 pm to find a lovely table set next to the pool. It was so sweet of the staff to wait for us and greet us with such a special romantic dinner. The staff at Hamerkop is 5+ stars through and through. Chef Masuli's meals were on par with any Michelin starred restaurant in the world. Oomary was a wonderful host and made sure we were taken care of at all times. Moi was gracious with our questions about Maasi culture and traditions, took us on a guided walk around the beautiful grounds and made us feel welcome. Our suite was lovely with indoor and outdoor showers, outdoor soaking tub, lots of windows to let the smell of Jasmine in during the night and a very comfortable bed, sitting and changing room. We returned for two nights after two weeks in the bush and a jeep/walking safari in the Arusha National Park. It's a lovely park. We walked right up to giraffes and saw two albino baboons. We had a very special time here and consider the staff our friends. We hope to return soon. This is a must stay place!!!

This is a great place to start or end your Safari vacation. The house is absolutely beautiful and very clean.

The food was delicious, the rooms were spacious and super comfortable. Our room had a separate section with an "office" or reading room and also a private table with a view of the garden where our breakfast was served. The best part was one of the showers in the bathroom was private but open ceiling so you could shower under the beautiful African sky.

The staff was the best part. Debra, Dennis, and Omari were so nice and hospitable. They made us feel at home from the first minute.

Traveling from Miami the journey is a bit tricky at over 31 hours (longer door to door) given long layover in Doha. Landing @ JRO early AM about 7:35am it was great to be taken care of by such wonderful individuals from the beginning. I had not booked the room the evening prior to arrival but the team took great care to make sure I had a place nearby to relax and enjoy breakfast and lunch prior to transferring to the house for my two night stay.

Hats off to the entire staff everyone works hard to take care of the visitors to the house.

Being greeted by Omary I felt like my best friend was picking me up from the airport. I visited Tanzania in August of 2021 for the first time and this year was a repeat. I immediately started sharing stories with him on the drive from the airport and the drive was filled with lots of laughs to say the least. Traveling as a single female I felt very safe right from the beginning of my arrival.

Once I made it to the house later in the afternoon everyone was so inviting and friendly. I unpacked a few things and decided to spend some quality time with the large bean gad chair by the pool. The setting could not have been more relaxing, I loved laying there red wine in hand and watching the monkeys run around the property playing with one another. Having the property set just beside the golf course allows for some wonderful walks, it was nice to get out and just explore taking in a little bit of nature and peace and quiet.

Huge thanks to Chef Museli, being gluten free he greeted me on arrival to review dietary restrictions and to make sure I was comfortable with the yummy dinner he had planned for that evening (and of course checked regarding each meal to follow thereafter). He is such a warm soul I loved just spending some time talking to him while I was at the house. If I return to the house in the future I will be sure to take a suitcase of some baking items so he and I can try some new recipes together.

And Moi what a gentle soul, he truly takes pride in the house and has been with the owners for a long time. I think that speaks volumes for how great of both a person and hard worker he is. It is more challenging to find ways for repairs and general maintenance in Tanzania than it is back here in the states but he takes great pride in making sure he does everything he can to take great care of the house. He is very inviting, easy to carry conversations with and makes sure he is available to help in any way he can.

I have to say while the stay was very relaxing I probably didn't sleep as much as I should have to rest up for safari BUT that is only because I wanted to walk around take in the surrounding grounds and truly enjoyed my company at the house so I would much rather spend hanging out with them than sitting in my room sleeping :-)

Fantastic house with excellent facilities, unbelievably warm hosting by the Lemala team. We stayed here for one night upon arrival at Kilimanjaro airport enroute to the Serengeti for a safari. The house is extremely comfortable with excellent attention to detail, very high quality fit out, fantastic bathroom, dressing room and bedroom. We were greeted by the host team who couldn’t have made us feel more welcome, sharing stories about their culture whilst feeding us fantastic home cooked food and excellent wines. If we ever return to the Serengeti we would definitely stay here.

After a 20 hour travel day, our brief, but wonderful stay at Hamerkop was just what we were needing before beginning our 6 night safari. We were welcomed with open arms by the entire staff. They had gin and tonics whipped up for us in no time as we sipped and unwinded the remainder of the afternoon. The rooms are comfortable and large with everything one would need including an outdoor shower and tub. We enjoyed sitting on the patio watching the monkeys play in the trees before dinner. There is a neighboring golf course that they told us where to walk to on for a beautiful view of the sunset. After our walk, dinner was served poolside with a fire and a delicious meal prepared by Mesuli. We woke to another wonderful meal for breakfast poolside before heading out to another Lemala property, Mpingo Ridge, at 9. Everyone (Saidi, Mesuli, Omari, and Moi) went above and beyond during our stay and we highly recommend a stay at Hamerkop to anyone needing a relaxing time before or after their time in the bush!

I had seen the house online but I honestly expected it to only be picturesque. I was happy wrong when I visited this incredible property for a night with my daughters. Where do I begin...
The drive there made me feel we were far away from everything and nothing mattered. We arrived with a big downpour of rain and were met with umbrellas and happy staff. Immediately felt safe and comfortable. More than at home. The house was welcoming and love the open plan with amazing flow. How the living area opens up to be part of the outside yet still you have your privacy was just awesome. With the rain we had the fire put on and it was very pleasant and cozy to sit and soak some warmth. The 3 rooms are all indepenadant and almost like its own apartment. Having a dressing room, study lounge, bathroom and outside bath and shower the 2 rooms also open up to the swimming pool. The 3rd room has its own unique garden space. The pool itself was almost made to measure. From the material used the side and dimensions, the pool was perfect in all aspects. Asthetics, functionaloty and practicality.
I do highly recommend not less than 2 nights here.
Easy access to the golf course, we literally had a short walk to the club house.
Well thought through. Location is amazing. Staff are helpful and know to give you your space.

We started our two week adventures in Arusha at the Hamerkop House. We stayed for 2 nights. Maasai Moi, Omari, Pascali, and Chef Mesuli made sure every need was met with delightful cuisine and delicious beverages. The rooms were very clean and the tables were always set beautifully. Miraji was our guide and provided us with transportation, safety as well as educated us by answering our questions and sharing his immense knowledge. This was possibly our family's trip of a lifetime, and we are so glad we started our vacation with Lemala. :)

What an incredibly welcome sight after almost 24 hours of travelling to get to Tanzania. Hamerkop House is the absolutely perfect place to kick-off your safari. My wife and I were picked up at Kilimanjaro airport and Stanley was so gracious and welcoming, bringing us to the lodge. The rooms are enormous, with indoor and outdoor showers and everything you could ever want or need. The food at Hamerkop House is incredible - chef Msuli and the rest of the kitchen staff were amazing and made some of the best food we had during our entire trip. Omari, Moi, Razak and the rest of the staff at Hamerkop house made us feel like family and we had such amazing conversations and walks around the grounds (even got to see some antelope and Dik Dik before our bush plane ride to the Serengeti)!

Special thanks to Jessica and Dancing Zebra Safari for connecting us with this incredible lodge and the absolute perfect way to start the trip of a lifetime.
