The location is in the tunduh lot, still a bit far to ubud city center, but the hotel provides free shuttle. Behind the hotel there is a river, the air is also quite cold and fresh. The check-in staff was quick to help us drop off our luggage, we were given a welcome drink of telang flower iced tea, at check-in we filled out a form, and I wrote down my Marriott bonvoy number. The receptionist said that because of ordering via OTA, you can't get Marriott bonvoy member benefits, I also answered "it's okay", but the receptionist doing their best hard work, finally found an upgraded room for me and was given a deluxe river view, the room with the best view in Sthala Ubud. We were escorted by the escort staff to our room and our luggage was also brought. Room layout standard hotels in general, equipped with a balcony. The interior vibes are similar to city hotel. There is a work desk and chair, an arm chair with an ottoman, a mattress with 4 pillows and 2 bolsters. On the balcony, there is a lounging sofa and a clothesline. We were given a room with the best view towards the pool and river. Facilities in the room include iron, umbrella, slipper, bathrobe, SDB, minibar. There is also one excelso coffee capsule, coffee and tea. The kettle was replaced by a coffee machine and works fine. Even though the TV has a lot of channels and a decent size, it's still a bit sluggish. Wifi is smooth. The interior of the room is nothing special, but the mattress, pillows and bolsters are perfect for me to rest, all in the right level, not too soft and not too hard. Drinking water is given 4 bottles and free refill. Standard size bathroom with sink, shower and closet. Amenities are also standard (shower gel, shampoo, body lotion, conditioner, dental kit). The shower is a Kohler brand complete with a rain shower, heavy water pressure, the controller also functions well, it's very comfortable to take a shower. Gym- Operates 24 hours, the number of equipment is standard, unfortunately the location is at the end and it's a bit dark Spa - there is a 150k promo for 1 hour spa Swimming pools- there are 2 swimming pools, 1 on the 3rd floor and 1 on the 5th floor, all of them are small. It's better on the 3rd floor because you can have an infinity view to the river and forest Kids Club- located near the restaurant, not too wide and there are no activities Others- If you get a room with a river view, the sound of the river flowing rather fast while drinking coffee is very serene. There is a rooftop bar but it's not operating. They also provide shuttle to Ubud city center, but we didn't try it. Breakfast is done as a buffet, the variants are not too many and the taste is also standard, but all the staff were very prompt in getting and offering us food, cleaning up our table. Food variants include fried rice, fried kwetiau, spicy chicken, potatoes, sausage, bokchoy ca bean sprouts, porridge, salad, fruit, yogurt, cereal, chicken noodles, bakery pastry, Balinese rice. The employees are very friendly and provide the best service to us, but for a 5-star interior, especially in Bali and the Marriott class, you could say it's too standard. The plus value of Sthala is in the beauty of nature and its rivers.

Hotel's Favourite
Pretty grounds with the hotel situated on a hillside overlooking a river with lush jungle. The views are beautiful, especially from Naga bar on the 7th floor during the sunsets with many kites along the horizon. The hotel has many Balinese arts and sculptures that give the vibe of their beautiful culture. The staff are all very well trained and genuinely care about their guests; all of them from housekeeping to the front desk were all pleasant and helpful. That being said there are some notable exceptions who deserve mentioning: Lasta, the General Manager is a pro: while busy managing two properties he makes himself available and listens to any feedback with grace. I never had an issue but I did speak with him for some length. Front Desk: Ms Agung is a lifesaver. She assisted me with everything from concierge services to arranging for postage to have my passport sent to the Embassy in Jakarta for renewal (she even called to double check my documents were in order and found that my photo had the incorrect shade of white in the background). Always cheerful and high vibration, Marriott is lucky to have her. Naga Bar: Maha the bartender is gentle and knowledgeable about Bali nightlife, he cares about doing a great job. Walking up the stairs I observed him practicing throwing and catching bottles when the bar was empty. A pro. Rian - waiter and total gentleman; I enjoyed dealing with him when he was working Ground floor restaurant: It should be noted the breakfast has a lot of variety of tasty foods, fruits, healthy juices, teas and coffees. Every morning I was greeted by the staff who would seat my at my preferred area (outside) and take my drink order while being seated: they made me individually ordered juices that were not specifically on the menu (including a healthy Balinese drink with turmeric) Karsana the waiter was usually there always asking how I was and if he could get me something (ask for a Nola bowl) Widura the manager, also a pro runs the place so well, I really looked forward to starting my day there. Finally there was Tantra, the IT specialist who helped me print some documents and insured wifi was working great. All around cool person. I highly recommend staying here even for a short time however I was there almost two weeks! Suksema everyone 🙏🏻

The staff here are fantastic. They made changes to make our stay more comfortable, all without asking. While they are a little south they provide a shuttle service that runs regularly making it very easy to explore Ubud and then unwind in the quiet at the hotel afterwards. Would recommend staying here. Hoping we get to again sometime soon.

This hotel will not disappoint. From the amazing views of the river to the great staff. The food is amazing. The staff is super amazing. Upon check in the staff was readily available. They greet you with a cold press tea that’s delicious. Check in and check out was a smooth process. The rooms are very clean and nice.

My friend and I stayed here for a few nights at the beginning of our Bali adventure. I am Marriott Titanium which was part of my motivation to book this property. Upon arrival, the property was very pretty and welcoming. Physically, it looked very promising. We were given a 7th floor room overlooking the infinity pool and river. The room was clean, comfortable, good AC...no complaints. Our check-in went smoothly and we had high hopes for a great stay. Unfortunately that is not what we had. The staff are lovely and want to help but just want. They are poorly trained and don't know hospitality or service. I don't really blame the staff, they are lovely but they need more experienced staff. There is no concierge or anyone who can help you to answer questions about the local area or even the resort. I had to go on TripAdvisor or text our driver to get any answers. We had booked the brunch on the raft that the resort offers and we had to ask about five people about it before finding anyone who even knew what it was. I had prepaid for this too. I showed all of them my email confirmation and they looked at me like I was speaking chinese. Drinks-please do not even bother. We tried ordering drinks off the menu and the "bartender" had to make two phone calls, more staff came up and they all huddled then asked us again what we wanted (mind you, this was a drink on their menu that we pointed to them, not some extravagent request). After a lot of conversation between them, they brought us a drink and it was disgusting. This happened 3x until we gave up and went to bed knowing we would have to go off property to have any decent drink. We tried asking about the shuttle into town that they operate just for Sthala and nobody could explain it so we paid for Grab or our driver instead of the free shuttle because they couldn't explain. I expect that any Marriott worldwide has someone like a concierge that can at least speak some English to communicate amenities of the resort and nearby. Of the seven different places I stayed during my extending Bali trip, this resort had the worst communication and drinks. What we did like was the breakfast, lots of Indo, Indian, Western and veggie options. The pool was lovely, we really enjoyed it. The property really is in a beautiful setting and with a handful of well-trained staff to help guide the existing staff I really think it has potential. I wouldn't go back right now, but perhaps in the future if they get some properly trained staff I would really enjoy it.

Room was full bugs. Nice staff and comfortable room other then the bugs but expect to get overcharged for everything. Gym and pool is subpar. Area is not that great, no sauna or steam room in spa. The pool closes at 7pm. Breakfast food is cold and full of flys. When you ask about extra hidden service charges they lie and say its a government fee which is not true.

In many ways this hotel is a microcosm of the island itself. While the setting is beautiful it is the people that truly make it a remarkable destination. The staff of this hotel are a credit to the hospitality industry and excellent ambassadors for the island of Bali. For you Bonyoyers, the program recognition is very much present and if you qualify, the included breakfast is fantastic with Balinese, Indian and Western selections that have some variation each day. We still miss enjoying our lattes while overlooking the lush river setting. Thanks for the warm welcome and we hope to see you again!

Great service consistently throughout from pick up at airport, front office, rooms, dinning, housekeeping, and hotel organised activities (remember to ask about this ..) aimed at experiencing Balinese living. Very clean room, spacious and pool facing, naturally well-lit with a functional balcony (part of the property is next to the road so the traffic at different times takes getting used) Ubud city centre is 15-20 minutes to and from the hotel thanks to their scheduled ride into the city Special thanks to

Lovely 4 days in Ubud at the Sthala. Staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful, food was good, pools and bar very nice. Its a bit outside Ubud but the hotel runs a shuttle every 2 hours. One downside is there aren't many other options for food and drinks close by, however, the hotel food is good and reasonable prices for a hotel. Would stay again and would recommend to others.

I stayed at this Hotel for a Business trip, the room is clean and cozy, breakfast is excellent with variety of choices, especially had the breakfast at the open area “gazebo” with the ambience of viewing river flow and trees. Its really a recommended hotel. Overall are satisfied including all staff are very friendly. Last recommendation is the infinity pool is beyond my expectations.
