Nice little motor lodge at a decent price. Fridge and microwave in room (and maybe coffee maker?). Fresh coffee, danish assortment, donuts and hot chocolate in lobby in the morning. Beds were comfortable and furnishings were in great condition. Bathroom small but perfectly adequate. Very convenient to Great Sand Dunes NP and Taos (which was a last minute visit when we discovered we were a straight shot 78 miles south from the hotel).Very tiny town-a couple of restaurants (most not open on a Sunday evening which is when we were there), two gas stations, post office to mail your postcards, and a liquor store. Laundromat behind main building which another guest raved to me about. We were able to rent a sled for the dunes as well which was great. We were glad we opted for here over Alamosa which has more hotels, fast food and a nice grocery store but over all looks like it's fallen on some really rough times.

My wife and I stayed four nights here in late July and early August, 2021. The photo of the motel with a mountain in the background is a bit of a fooler. I thought it was a big parking lot well off the road, but in fact you are looking from the parking lot across the street across a fairly busy state highway. It is an older roadside motel. It has interior room doors. Colorado has high motel taxes. The room rate was on the high side of reasonable, and the taxes pushed the final price up a bit. I guess that's Colorado in the summer. The room was a little on the small side. We ran into the chairs a few times. The bathroom is small. The room was well appointed, and the beds were very good. We had no road noise in the room. The HVAC unit was quiet. If the owner ever renovates I would suggest two upgrades--larger toilets in the bathrooms and better sound separation. We had noise from the room adjoining ours and a fair amount from upstairs--pounding footsteps, loud talking and a guy snoring for a while. The staff was friendly and helpful. There is no guest laundry, but there is a laundramat in the parking lot. There are several restaurants within walking distance. A small grocery store is a longer walk or a short drive away. On the whole, the Mountain View was adequate for a four-night stay.

Room Tip: The rooms on the back side of the motel are much less likely to have road noise.

Thoroughly enjoyed the short stay. Friendly staff, CLEAN rooms - in fact this was the first place in the 3000 miles so far traveled that did not stink! Crazy good food across the street! The only negative is the second floor is accessible by stair, no elevator. No biggie for me. Plenty of first floor rooms for physically challenged folks.

Location is good., close to Great sand dues. But the Carpet is really dirty and stained. Toilet cover is old and painting comes off. Bathroom is clean enough. The boarding and sledding are available for rent.

Small town feeling that is very hard to come by. Friendly staff. Safe. Clean. Quiet. Nothing fancy but we don’t need that. We slept great. Unable to reach management after hours- thankfully we didn’t need them- so plan accordingly. Parking lot was packed with just enough room for 1 car per room if people park decent. Morning treats/coffee. Able to rent sand dune boards- quick drive to sand dunes. Highly recommend

Room Tip: Share the parking lot and park decent- don’t hog 2 stalls for your 1 vehicle. Quick/easy drive...
