Nestled in the heart of Hollywood, Sunset Tower Hotel is lauded for its enchanting mix of old Hollywood glamour and contemporary flair. Guests are captivated by its prime location and historical allure, while the attentive service and pristine cleanliness receive high marks across the board. Although the rooms offer historic charm and impressive vistas, some guests suggest they might benefit from updates. Despite concerns over value for the cost, the hotel's classic ambiance and comprehensive amenities continue to charm visitors.

My college age daughter and I stayed for 4 nights. Our first experience was with the valet people who were so friendly. We were constantly in and out of the hotel and did not have to wait for our car ever.

We stayed in a premiere suite that had a large living room, king size bedroom and a wonderful view of downtown LA.

Housekeeping was perfect. When we arrived back after a short trip or run everyday the room was always beautiful and clean, though we never saw a housekeeping cart or person anywhere

I loved the privacy that I felt at this hotel. I am not a celebrity or special person, but I felt I was treated like one during the whole trip

We ordered room service for breakfast frequently and it was fast, hot and the food was excellent.

The wifi for once actually worked well. This has not been my experience at any hotel lately, without having to call someone.

The people at the front desk, valet, and management could not have been any nicer or more helpful.

This hotel is a very specific kind of thing, i.e., you have to appreciate really great beds. beautiful wallpaper but then also realize *hello historic building.* if you can do that, then this is the place for you. but say, if you'd rather a more modern building with highly sound proofed walls and the inability to open your window, then I say go forth and prosper somewhere else.

The service here is top notch. Everyone was so helpful and accommodating during our short stay.

Also, it was my boyfriends birthday and the staff made the event a wonderful occasion,.

Love love everything about this hotel. The service is impeccable, you are made to feel so welcome the moment you arrive whether one of the frequent celebrities who stop by or a very jet lagged Aussie couple in their saggiest travels clothes straight off the plane.

Everything about the hotel feels old Hollywood glamour (unsurprising considering the history) and the rooms are very large and opulent. Amazing pool and gym. A must for any visit to LA

The photos do not represent the different room types well. There is a south view of all the Los Angeles basin and a north view of a billboard or across the Street. I stayed in a suite that the living space looked nothing like the photos on the website, except the photos on the wall, the bar, and the couch and chair crammed into the livingroom. If it is a staycation, go to the hotel and ask them to show the room types, I think this is the only way to select your level of value for what you receive. My bed had a dip in it and the pillows were lumpy. I barely slept both nights. The bedroom at least looked like the photos. Fabulous bathrobe and towels. No tub. If you want to relax in a tub of hot mineral salts, sip some champagne and chat, you are going to have to ask which room type actually has a tub.

Dear Ann, I am sorry to hear about your stay. We are an historic hotel that has seen numerous changes to the building making each room very distinct from the other, therefore impossible to photograph every room. It appears that your request for a tub, which we are limited on, put you in an ADA room, where we have had to make alterations to the floorplan to accomodate an ADA guests' needs. I will reach out to you directly as well. Regards, Troy

I have stayed at the sunset tower hotel more than 100 times. It’s definitely not the newest and most up to date hotel to stay at in LA. Their rates are high and amenities are totally outdated compared to the competition. I have so many newer hotels to choose from that have the same or lower rates.

However, i always return to the sunset tower because of their friendly staff and service. The front desk staff has always gone above and beyond to make sure I am accommodated and feel valued. Anna, Angie, and Stephen are all phenomenal.

Because I stay there so much They gave me an “insider guest” status which gives me special perks. In Sum, I return because the staff makes me feel valued and they treat me like family.

My most recent stAy was much different.
In a matter of two months (since my last time to visit) 70% of the hotel staff is new. And, it doesn’t have the same homey feel it used to have.

There is a new front desk manager Mia who has the most annoying voice and says NO to me before I even make a request. She is completely negative and very unprofessional. She made inappropriate remarks to me about how much money I spent shopping And where I get my money from. She asked me about who pays my cellphone bill because of the name that pops on the caller Id when I call the hotel. I never see her talking to any guests or helping resolve front desk problems. Anna, Angie, and Stephen do all of the work and really go above and beyond to make sure guests are satisfied. When Mia is at the front desk she just sits in the corner and plays with the computer. She doesn’t interact with guests And definitely does not help.

The housekeeping is horrible now too. They don’t even clean they only make the bed. And, they threw out a bag full of new Erewon groceries that I bought earlier in the day. They spilt my nature bisse face serum and when I mentioned it to Mia she said to send her the info so they could reimburse me for it. When I sent her the info regarding the face serum she said “wow that’s expensive” making me feel uncomfortable about how much my face serum costs.

In sum, Mia sucks so bad that I don’t think I will return to the Sunset tower next time I’m in Los Angeles.

The grounds were beautiful and service was great. The rooms was well appointed and ample size, my only concern and feedback is the noise leakage from other rooms. Unsure if the noise came through the walls or the HVAC, but was loud enough I could hear other guest's conversations.

What a beautiful hotel. The restaurant, the lobby, the details— everything is beautiful. The service is excellent. Atmosphere a bit pretentious but it’s so beautiful that it’s okay. The room was cozy. The lighting was warm and everything was super clean and thought out. The price is very expensive for the size of the room I had, but I think that’s part of the “Sunset Tower” experience. I think this is great for couples for a weekend. I think this isn’t a great option for families, or anyone wanting to get more for their dollar. The restaurants downstairs are stunning too. Love the fries.

So this is actually my second review of Sunset Tower Hotel, having stayed there previously last October. At the time I was left charmed by but ultimately underwhelmed with my stay, having only previously been familiar with the hotel’s well known Tower Bar restaurant — a favorite of mine whenever I’m in LA.

I shared my feedback with the staff, which was more along the lines of disappointment rather than disapproval. Through that, I was put in touch with Managing Director Bruno Vergeynst, who immediately reached out to me and invited me to give the hotel a second try upon my next trip.

First I have to say that Bruno and his team of staff are truly wonderful hosts. Sunset Tower is of course an iconic location in LA, and there really is something old school and intimate about the level of service that they provide. It’s warm and friendly, yet still somehow manages to feel sophisticated and elegant. It’s all of the positives you expect from a classic luxury hotel experience with none of the stuffiness you can sometimes encounter.

The main tower itself is truly a beauty, extremely charming, and almost romantic in its commitment to its history. The penthouse I stayed in was truly magnificent, and got some of the most gorgeous light in any hotel room I’ve ever been in in LA throughout the entire day. From the traditional chocolate tower which greets you upon arrival to the snack basket which welcomes you back to your room in the evening, there’s a sense of whimsy and, again, charm to something which in most other hotels’ hands would feel equally luxe but not quite as fun to stay in.

All I can say is, my first impression wasn’t necessarily accurate, and it will be my pleasure to visit Sunset Tower again very soon!

We had dinner reservations there last night at 6:30. The hostess, who quite honestly from the minute we stepped in was rude to us and most certainly not what you would expect to experience at sunset towers, escorted us to our table which happened to be in the walkway of high traffic area. When we asked for a different table as we concerned about our safety, she- Ashley- was not even open to hear our concerns and basically walked away from us while saying this is the only table they had and others are reserved. And btw, we had reservations as well and clearly you can’t reserve a specific table.
Honestly, the table wasn’t the issue at this point as we had already made the decision to head to a different place should we not have a better table option as we understood it was a Thursday and a beautiful evening so you may have been booked. Issue is that we were clearly profiled by the way Ashley was addressing us. In addition, When Maitre D came to talk to us, we mentioned that we had been there over 150 times, and we had btw if you look up our information in aggregate, she automatically said “no you haven’t”
I mean why would she say that without any fact? I hate to even get to this conclusion as I’ve never experienced this there before but can’t help but think clearly she said that because she assumed we didn’t fit the profile of the everyday customer as we are Black. Really terrible to even think that quite honestly. However, also couldn’t help but to finally noticed the lack of diversity in your staff? Especially the restaurant. Something to really think about if you haven’t done so already.

Next we asked to speak to the manager, btw we are still in a very calm and respecting manner. We are high ranking executives and understand the importance of service so we were just curious about why we are getting such terrible service at a place where I would have never expected us to.
Jennifer, director of food and beverage, after 25 min waiting, came to chat with us. She was nice and listened to our concerns. She shared that she didn’t have any visibility to what was happening with the tables in the dining room however, she didnt even offer to inquire to find out about the seating situation or what exactly was happening. After we informed her about our experience with Ashley and the Maitre D, Jennifer didn’t even apologize for their actions and instead said that at this point we have wasted 30 min and if we were to sit down they will need the table back in an hour. Really??? That’s all she cares about? Transaction? What happened to customers concern and experience? What exactly is Sunset Towers trying to be known for nowadays? Clearly not customer service, not hospitality, not diversity just to name a few.
Net net, I had to sadly make the decision to never step in that place again as well as to inform everyone about our disappointing profiled experience.

As I have communicated to you directly I will share the public that your account and what my team observed do not align. I am very proud of the diversity of both our guests and our customers and we celebrate all who cross our threshold. OUr diversity reflects the community and city we work in. I am sorry you felt bad by being seated in one of best sections, but again that is subjective. And as for being made to wait, your demands to speak to a manager happened at peak seating time, Jennifer, who you called out in this post, got to you as soon as she possibly could. Regards, Troy
