Detailed Reviews
What you see is what you get. Amazing location, great price for WeHo but very basic. Its located so well on Cnr SM Blvd and La Cienega. It's about the cheapest you'll find in area, by a country mile. The rooms are clean but incredibly basic and very 1970s decor. No overhead light but a lamp. Bed OK, bathroom OK, you get nothing else. I prefer to spend on experiences so I'm OK with that. I had no problems and no complaints but it's pretty simple. Looks like some rooms are long term residents.

I stay there frequently due to its low cost and location. it's always clean and usually quiet. Since I act like a gentleman, the staff are always cordial to me though I can see how they get a lot of losers there that require less tactful treatment.

+1
When in West Hollywood, this place is the best bargain in town for a short stay. The location is GREAT. Aside from that, well, electrical problems, TV cable problems, noise problems. Thank goodness I brought earplugs, a face mask and some good old Motrin PM. I think I slept about twelve hours straight through. The place is old, the rooms are smallish, you can hear everything in the next room, it certainly is not glamorous. I prayed there wouldn't be an earthquake because it looked like one good jolt would be the end of the place, owing to one end of the building being supported by a couple of old wood beams in the teeny carport.
All that aside, the management was very nice, accommodating and helpful. Sheets were clean and the bed was okay so I slept well. Kudos to them for a decent shower head and great water pressure (most of the other places we stayed at had those horrible water-saver misters, eesh).
West Hollywood isn't one of my favorite places to visit that's for sure, but if I had to return after hell freezes over, I'd stay at this place again.

Room Tip: By all means ask for a room on the top floor! You don't want to hear people trampling above...

I shy away from writing bad reviews because I don't believe they are worth my time. However, travelers need to know about this place. Look, I can let a lot of things roll off my back: old room? fine. kind of dirty? ok. soiled sheets? ok, that's gross but easy fix. I've very go- with-the-flow but I should have listened to the previous reviews! Upon check-in, everything seemed to go ok, even the first night was fine. Then the second day of my vacation arrived... I chose this motel because of its proximity to my favorite night clubs and restaurants. I had my friends who live in LA meet at my room so we could all walk together. Upon my return (around 4pm) my room key did not work. I went and asked the front desk person if they could resolve the issue, upon doing this, the front desk started screaming at me that I had too many people in my room (I guess they saw my friends from earlier) and that I was being kicked out. Um, what?! The front desk would not let me in my room, instead he (she?) started swearing at me and becoming belligerent telling me that she was going to call the cops. I thought I was being punked! This whole experience was so overwhelming, Ive never been treated like this in my life. I pleaded just to let me get my things out of my room before I needed to call the authorities. Finally, I was let in my room (some creepy maintenance guy stayed at the door and watched) but there was no way that I would stay there even if they had allowed me. So there I was, late in the afternoon on vacation, hotel-less. I packed up my things in my car and realized I had left a couple of items in the rush. I was not let in my room so I called the police. Of course, by this time they had wiped out my room and taken the rest of my belongings. Looking back, I wish I had just called the police right away but I was so flustered and in utter disbelief of what was happening. I have no idea how this place is still in business, don't take a chance of having something like this happen to you. Based on reviews, it seems hit and miss with the front desk operator but don't risk it!

I checked into The Holloway on saturday afternoon of Labor Day Weekend. Pn Sunday a friend came and got me and we went sightseeing. I returned to the motel at 5:30 on Sunday. I went to my room and inserted the electronic card key. It didn’t work. I tried it several more times. It didn’t work. I went to the office. (There’s a notice in the rooms that says someone will be in the office each day from 7:30AM till 10PM.) There was no one in the office. I tried the bell. No response. I knocked. No response. I called out. No response. So I stood around for a while hoping someone who worked there would come along. As I did that 2 guys drove up and parked in the motel’s parking lot. They thought I worked for the motel and so they started to explain to me that they had a reservation. I told them I didn’t work for the motel and was also waiting for someone who did. They said that they had told the motel they’d be in town by 6 and that they had a reservation for just that night. We waited. We waited. About 6 or a few minutes thereafter the employee who had checked me in on Saturday came walking through the parking lot. The 2 guys walked towards him, saying who they were. The employee started screaming at them and waving his arms. He said, “Can’t you see the sign. It says No Vacancies. How dumb are you two that you can’t read the sign.” And more like that. The employee came up to where I was standing. I said that my card key wasn’t working. He yelled at me with sarcasm, “Isn’t that the end of the world. Gee that’s just too bad. The magnetic strip isn’t working and you’re all upset about it.” I said, “Yes, I’m upset. I need to get into my room and no one was in the office.” The employee said, “Ya know what. I’m gonna refund your money and I want you off this property in 10 minutes or I’m gonna call the cops. 10 minutes!”. He used a pass key to open the door to my room. I went in and packed my few things. I walked down to the Ramada and checked in.

I did not stay here, but I feel I should give anyone out there a warning about this place as I was going to stay here.
I made a reservation to stay here two weeks prior to my trip and then changed my mind as I found a better location and price at the ORBIT.
I cancelled far in advance (about one week before my arrival--they said I can cancel within 24 hours)...I just checked my VISA statement and they have still charged me for one night....I called them to fix it but they guy that works there (very unfriendly) tells me i need to wait until the manager gets there and was being very unhelpful with the situation. My Visa company is investigating this now and will take care of it but do I really need to go through all this hastle?
I passed by this motel when I was in LA, and it is located at a very good place but a company that deals this way is not somewhere I would like to stay. Just thought I'd let you all know that!

I have stayed at this hotel since 2001 and referred many of my friends. I thought based on my past good experience I would stay again in July. I proceeded to book my reservation on their on-line form. I called the next day and the person who answered abruptly told me it takes a day. He did not offer to look it up, just told me this. I said fine, I will wait. As he said, I received the confirmation later that day. They violated security by including my full credit card number and csv code and ignored that I requested a 2nd floor or higher room and gave me first floor. I nicely wrote them back thanking them for the reservation and pointed both of these items to them. THe next day, they nastily wrote me back and said it is standard practice to include all reservation information and therefore, they are deleting my information and cancelling my reservation. I never asked to cancel, I was merely giving feedback. Also, my friend who is traveling with me called the evening before to confirm his reservation because he never got his email, and the person answering was extremely rude and when asked for an email, abruptly said, he does not handle that. What has happened to this nice friendly hotel? It is too bad. In any event, I will stay down the street at the San Vicente!

Huge mistake I ever did was staying in this trashy place!! After the second day I didnt have my bed linners changed neither the room was cleaned, so I decided to talk to the management, this insane person so called "manager/owner" name Tony came. I was very polite and asked if he would please ask the maids (Wonder if they have one) to clean the room. He start screaming saying that I have my "No disturb" sign at the door and thats why the room wasnt clean. After trying to explain to this crazy unhappy person that I had the sign for only an afternoon he told me if I wasnt happy I should start looking elsewhere which eventually I did.
Don't let be fool by prices, for couple bucks more or same there are plenty of places around the same area where rooms are nicer/cleaner and you are better treated as a guest/human.
