Guests at Kimpton La Peer Hotel are greeted by an elegant and comfortable atmosphere that receives consistent praise for its tasteful design and welcoming vibe. The prime location in West Hollywood is popular for its proximity to dining and shopping, which many travelers appreciate.
While the spacious and well-appointed rooms are a hit for their comfort and modern touches, some guests have mentioned housekeeping issues and construction noise. Despite the friendly staff and efficient valet service, concerns over high parking fees and unexpected charges have led some to question the hotel's overall value.

Detailed Reviews
I have stayed at this hotel twice and both times were great! This hotel is very modern and it’s on a bit of a side street so it’s mostly quiet. The first time I stayed it was on a weekend and the second time it was during the week. The weekend was a little more wild because they were having a good pop up in the valet driveway ones of the nights, but during the week it was so quiet and I hardly saw any other guests. They do change a resort fee, but it gives you $15/day for breakfast and $10/day for ride share credits. I did get the avocado toast for $20 one of the days and it was nice… but maybe not worth $20. The rooms have HUGE bathtubs with a separate shower, my 5 year old was literally swimming in it! The valet has EV charging, so that was an added bonus. It’s also right next door to gracias madre, one of my favorite vegan restaurants. It’s a great hotel!

The location just off Melrose near many dining hotspots is ideal, and the hotel, particularly the lobby, exudes the coolest LA vibe. The room cost reflects those attributes. Our superior double room was very contemporary with sparse but interesting decor, and while not particularly luxurious it was quite spacious and quiet (ours overlooked inner courtyard high floor) with comfortable beds; perfect for our short stay. Grab a room at the right price (Kimpton seems to move the prices incrementally up and down frequently so recheck online often), and Le Peer is certainly worth an LA stay.

Had such a great stay this past weekend! Everything was perfect from the moment we got to the hotel to checking out the next morning. The staff is super friendly and helpful; they went above and beyond to make us feel welcome throughout our stay. The hotel is very modern and trendy and our room was immaculate with a great city view. We got a chance to eat at the pop up restaurant Olivetta downstairs. The food there was so good! The bar also had great cocktails; they definitely don't skimp on the alcohol so it's well worth the money. Traveling during COVID could sometimes seem daunting but this hotel follows social distancing guidelines - there are markings on the floor to indicate the 6' apart and everything was extremely clean so I felt very safe.

I wanted so badly to love the Kimpton since the location is perfect nestled right in West Hollywood and some of the most popular restaurants and shops. However, it didn’t take the entire five days for me to desperately wish I had stayed elsewhere. Upon checking in, Jessie was amazing- he ensured the guys at valet could help us charge our electric vehicle and even suggested some restaurants for us. We checked in late and we were looking for some water and decided to ask the front desk, unfortunately Jessie’s shift must have been over because the woman at the front desk told us the only option was to purchase water for $6. We asked if there was any complimentary water since stores near us were closed and I feel like a 5 star hotel at the very least could offer some water. We called the front desk to ask and she told us to come downstairs and hastily gave us one mini sized bottle for the two of us and asked for our room number. This was odd considering I don’t believe there were more than a few guests in the entire hotel and I have never had to pay for water at even a 3 star hotel (isn’t Kimpton a 5 star)? The next morning I woke up and noticed that the comforter that sits in between the hotel sheets (I’m assuming is rarely washed) had a reddish stain that looked like blood. Given this was COVID, I was taken aback given I had read they were taking many precautions and extra diligent when cleaning. I texted the business number they provided me, because I couldn’t get ahold of the front desk. Someone texted me back and apologized and the hotel staff dropped off outside a comforter in a plastic bag (no new sheets or anything). In addition to all of this, there were guests one floor below that hosted a gathering and we could hear every word even with the window completely shut. We told the hotel staff and asked if we could be moved to a new room since most were empty, hoping the other side would be quieter. Overall, this hotel would not be my first choice given how bummed and upset we were those five days after back to back problems. Jessie and the valet guys are amazing, but wish I could say the same for the rest of the staff. I understand it is COVID and these times are hard for everyone, but given they told us they “had plenty of staff around the property”, I really expected better treatment from the hotel staff and sanitization of the room given the hotel seemed as if they had maybe less than 10 guests.

This was my second stay and it was overall an enjoyable one (much better than my first.)
The property is gorgeous, clean and spacious. The lobby furniture was very comfortable and the outdoor bar area was quite lively. Great service out in the bar area!
The rooms follow the Nordic-inspired modern aesthetic yet are still very comfortable and inviting. The beds are dreamy in usual Kimpton style.
Housekeeping was fine for the most part. Bathroom was spotless. The tissue box was nearly empty though, which was annoying. I asked guest services to have the maid replace the box during turnover service but that never happened. The carpet also didn’t appear to be vacuumed because some food crumbs were underneath the desk. Very unpleasant to feel when barefoot! Towels were thick, fresh and good quality. Atelier Bloem toiletries, standard Kimpton, are always a treat.
The social password promotion was active and I was offered milk and cookies. I requested coffee instead of milk and was happily granted the request. Delicious cookies!
Service at the front desk was warm and courteous. Andrew was especially great and remembered my name from the 35+ nights I spent at the Kimpton Everly, his former workplace. It was very nice to be recognized by a familiar face.
One more disappointment was that, as an Inner Circle member (Kimpton’s invite-only status, much like Royal Ambassador with Intercontinental), I was not offered a suite even though all suites were available. Andrew did his best and even went back to ask a manager for permission to assign me a suite but I was declined. I’ve been to numerous Kimptons from coast to coast and I’ve never been denied a suite upgrade as an IC when there was availability except once (the Allegro in Chicago.). What made this especially unfortunate was that I initially wanted two beds but those rooms were long sold out. I was told that the manager said a roll-away would fit in my room (this turned out to be a lie, there was no way it would fit) so my guest and I had to do without it. The room had no couch either.
Even if it happens to be this property’s own policy to not offer suite upgrades for IC, it would have been nice if manager had considered an IC’s request for two beds (or a bed and a couch).
This is the main reason why I hesitate to recommend this hotel, especially to fellow Inner Circle members. There is so much potential for this property to be better!

This was our first time staying here in over a year. The team's doing a great job keeping things clean and wearing masks, and overall getting things going again.
I hate to leave anything but stellar reviews as businesses start to climb out of the mess of the Pandemic, but, I think folks need to be warned. When there are events going on on the rooftop, they can last into the wee hours of the night. And, if you have a room on the 4th floor (rooftop = 5th), you will suffer from all the rooftop noise and teardown when the event is over.
On our first night we had to contend with reveler noise until things smoothed out above our heads around 11:30pm. But, then the team upstairs started tearing down the event at around 1:30a, and didn't stop until around 3a. So much noise and shuffling and moving and slamming of heavy objects upstairs. It was brutal. We changed rooms the next day.
In general La Peer has turned into an area location wherein to be seen. Locals love to come here to drink and dine. It makes for super fun people watching and lively atmosphere all around. It can be a bit frustrating as a hotel guest though as you feel like just one of the herd when trying to get a drink or table even though you're subsidizing the facility w/ room rates (or is it the other way around ;))?
We miss the La Peer that was when it first opened. Super happy for all of its success, but, it's quite rowdy these days.
Rooms (carpets, electrical outlets (don't hold plugs anymore), shades (coming off of tracks), hallways, and elevators are coming up on needing a refresh.

This is my second time staying at the hotel and definitely not the last. I had such a great stay for my birthday weekend! Everyone was lovely, CJ helped us at valet and was so welcoming and friendly, Amelia checked us in and made our stay perfect from start to finish. On a side note, I really appreciate how dedicated they are to ensuring guest safety during COVID-19. All of their staff wore masks, they were frequently disinfecting public areas and they had a lot of hand sanitizer stations for public use. They followed social distancing guidelines and provided masks and a welcome kit for guests who did not have one.
During our stay we had drinks at the bar and ate at the pop-up downstairs. It was great! The drinks are super delicious and the bartenders, Alex and Aaron, make you feel at home. The food at the pop-up was great, if you get a chance check it out!
As always, I love staying here and I'm excited for next time!

I was given 2 free nights due to issues during my last stay, so I thought I would give them another shot. Unfortunately, this stay was also a complete disappointment. 1. I specifically asked for the quietest possible room (usually this means corner/top floor) First I was offered rooms on 2nd floor, then finally the 3rd. I could hear walking from the room above me and the television/doors closing from adjacent rooms. After complaining for several days, I was offered another room, that was smaller and had a terrible odor. Obviously a room someone else had declined. It just takes a little forethought to accommodate a simple request, but clearly that is beyond what can be expected. 2. Housekeeping never cleaned my room one day, no explanation. 3. Dining is confusing, and limited. 4. STAFF: While some tried to be helpful, almost everyone I interacted with were condescending and rude. I now realize this stems from the culture created by the GM, Nick . I emailed Nick expressing my dissatisfaction, clearly outlining the issues and asking for assistance. He called me (even though I expressly said I was working.) Since I did not have availability to speak via phone, he emailed me that I should find another place to stay! I then phoned him in the middle of my work day and he proceeded to yell at me, telling me it’s my problem that I was unhappy with the hotel and that the staff do not like me etc. Also stating that I was rude to not call him back. Absolutely disgusting treatment of a guest. Needless to stay I will never stay at this hotel again, and advise you to seek another for your stay if you want to be treated like a paying customer who deserves a 5 star experience.

The Kimpton La Peer sits hidden away, perfectly situated in between Melrose & Santa Monica, 5 minutes from the bars of Sunset & the glitz of Beverly Hills.
The hotel facade is unassuming, but once in the courtyard the decor elements begin to reveal themselves and are distinctly Kimpton. Inside, the lobby and communal spaces are nice places to be, very relaxing & comfortable vibe. Just off the main lounge is Issima restaurant, the pool & outdoor bar which all have a similar, upscale yet tranquil atmosphere.
We stayed on IHG reward nights, so budget wise i can't comment as our entire stay was gratis. However, when i have used redeemed points in the past at other hotels I have often been given the lowest grade room and a shoestring service. This is not the case at La Peer, we were upgraded upon arrival and the staff were attentive & helpful throughout.
Our Signature King room was beautifully decorated with natural wood and a neutral palette, a welcome escape after a day exploring LA. Two things that stood out was the ridiculously comfortable bed, and the spacious, spa-like bathroom. Not so great was the lack of a proper dressing table, and there wasn't much storage space for a weeks worth of clothes. The room was easily large enough to incorporate both of these additions.
We used the bar a few times (breakfast is served there too) and the drinks were fantastic, but more-so the staff, again were incredible and looked after us throughout our stay. In particular Alan and his espresso martinis, legend!
Thanks for having us!

I’ve been trying for years to get a rate that I felt would be worth the location and prestige of the Kimpton brand, and was ably to book a room in the high $200/nt with a Black Friday deal Kimpton was running. It was..ok at best.
The good: location location location. Two short blocks to the Abbey, half block to Melrose and a short walkable drive to Beverly Center. The hotel shows nicely in the lobby but all else was average.
Fast elevators.
Valet staff and service outstanding albeit understaffed at times with only one working. Has a free EV port the valet can plug your car into if you are electric or hybrid. Loved that.
Not good:
Front desk staff rarely there when you are looking for them. Not sure where they go but the desk is often empty. Four out if six visits, including check in, I had to ask someone in another department to find them.
Room generally was nice, but if you are an IHG elite (I’m platinum) expect nothing. I got a room that overlooked a courtyard about 8X20 in size staring at other rooms.
Text requests that are offered at checkin were not monitored at least twice for me.
Restaurant service very slow, even when not busy.
Could not even as a guest get a table at the fine dining restaurant for dinner, even trying to book several days in advance.
I won’t stay here again, particularly if the price is more than what I paid. In fact, if it was the same price the .Montrose and Chamberlain are much better options of the Weho larger boutiques.
I’m starting to think the same of most Kimptons since IHG acquired them. They show well but once you get to know them, a Holiday Inn Express would provide about the same service at a better price point.

Yes, we are in a very safe area- which is part of the reason why the Design District is often referred to as LA’s most walkable neighborhood! You will have a fantastic time at the Troubadour- truly one of West Hollywood’s great historic music venues.
Do not remember. Call Kimpton.
Yes, there is an option for a coffee maker. Please ask front desk upon arrival. Thank you!
Hello, our valet charges are at $49 per day for hotel guests.
Hello!
Thank you for your questions as we are delighted to assist and also hopeful that you may visit over the holidays!
We do have over 20 rooms with our signature wet room configuration featuring our shower and deep soak tub.
As for restaurants, we are in the middle of LA’s most walkable neighborhood, so there are several that are open over the holidays as well as our very own Viale Dei Romani by Casey Lane. Rest assured, our location offers a dynamic mix of dining choices all together due to our close proximity to Beverly Hills and the Sunset Strip, so our team at the front desk would be able to assist finding your favorite cuisine within just a few miles.
Please feel free to reach out at any time if you have any more questions as we are here for you!
