Detailed Reviews
This is a perfectly fine place to stay for a
good price. After the senior citizen discount, our rate was only $107 a night for a two-bed room. It was quiet and centrally located, and near plenty of places to eat. No breakfast provided but staff was friendly and helpful. Don’t bother with the dreadful Howard Johnson’s nearby; for an extra $15 you will have a much better experience if you stay at this Marriott’s.

We stay in a lot of Marriotts. This Residence Inn had good check in, but it took a lot longer than usual. We had to sign non-smoking papers, which means they must have issues they are trying to stop (yes, I smelled marijuana almost every time I was outside). I was disappointed that we had to pay for parking, especially given how difficult it was to find a space (And they are very narrow!).
The courtyard grounds were really beautiful with tons of blooming flowers everywhere we looked. Our room was upgraded to a 2nd floor “penthouse” and was very comfortable. Our unit appeared to be clean, but our dishwasher had items in it. The staff left us a welcome note and snack bag, which was a nice gesture. Due to Covid, the breakfast was all items you could carry away in a bag (fruit, yogurt, cereal, bagel), but it was nice to have an option for a quick grab and go.
Overall, we slept well, felt safe, and had what we needed. It was close to many restaurants, gas, a big mall, and a quick drive to the beach. This isn’t a location I would eagerly revisit, but it was fine.

Room Tip: Don’t try to park a large pickup or van here. We had a full size car and the spots were tight.

Review: Hotel is at a great location, we stay there to attend a concert at the forum and we also went to Universal Studios. Getting to the forum was not bad, not sure if the forum always gives Uber vouchers but we got one for $25. It took around 25 minutes from the hotel at around 6:00pm and we paid $15 including tip. To Universal Studios was around a 45 minutes drive on a Sunday morning. There are a lot of food options around the hotel. Redondo beach is around a 10 minute drive. The staff is very welcoming and every staff member I encounter was very friendly and helpful. I will definitely stay again, they really make you feel like your home away from home.

Reserved a room here based on the most recent reviews. That was a big mistake. It is strange that there are so many glowing reviews. Not sure what was going on with this property. It appeared to be a mix of rooms for hotel stays and rooms for voucher housing (or something along those lines) as there are people who live there. One of them gave us evil looks like she hated our presence.
The property layout and overall vibe screamed motel. Each unit has 3 or 4 units, sort of like a multiplex, with NO ELEVATOR to get to the second floor. Choices are a first floor room hearing guests walking or kids running overhead, or lugging suitcases up flights of stairs to the second floor. There was a uniformed security guard at the gate in the evening on the weeekend, something we had never seen at a domestic hotel.
Even with the “newly renovated” rooms the lack of effective housekeeping was apparent. The rooms will look ragged and dirty in just a few years. The studio we had was spacious but the bathroom was tiny. The kitchen was typical RI. At least one dish in the cabinet was dirty. We didn’t cook so didn’t assess the cookware.
The parking was bizarre. In addition to a parking permit there was a key card that worked only the first time it was used to lift the parking gate. Since there is a $15/day parking fee, the gate not working was more than a little ridiculous. We also saw cars entering the wrong way through the exit gate that was always open. The $15/day parking fee is idiotic since the exit gate is always open.
The front desk staff were courteous but their lack if awareness about the problems with property seemed less than genuine (their “surprise” that the parking key card didn’t work was hilarious).
Even with a top floor room we could hear screaming kids in adjacent rooms well into the evening. The lack of insulation noted in other reviews is accurate.
This should be not be a Residence Inn branded property. The price for the LA area should have been a clue for us but the reviews were so good. Too bad they were misleading. We would never, ever stay here again.

Debbie and I checked in Monday 2pm. Female staffer rude and demanding and threatened to cancel the reservation over her overtly zealous attitude. Then coffee cups are the size of shot glasses, so bring your own and all the dishes are not put away but in the dishwasher. 1 tiny sliver of soap only in the bathroom with half ply toilet tissue. The bed was extra firm and movement transfers across the entire bed. Then there are the idiots who's car alarms go off at 5am. I stayed here once last y,......oh I forgot, they make you pay for parking now, can you believe that!? We paid $16 for the 24 hours we were there. OUTRAGEOUS. Never again.

I believe this is the second time I've stayed here! Location is excellent, with a mall and tons of eateries and shops nearby. And even though it's located next to a busy street, you really don't hear any of that commotion. Moreover, Torrance gives great access to Redondo Beach, Manhattan Beach, etc via car. Even Long Beach isn't terribly far by car. Unfortunately, no L.A. Metro stop close-by.
The room was comfy, clean, and inviting, if not a bit dated looking. As always, with a Residence Inn, each room has a mini-kitchen, which is nice to have, even if just reheating leftovers.
I was visiting the area with my brother. The room was large enough that each of us had enough space. Sometimes that's a problem in a hotel room, but since this isn't a hotel in a dense downtown area, I expected that the room would be quite large.
As far as amenities, my brother used the pool and hot tub one evening, which he seemed to enjoy. The free, full breakfast each morning was greatly appreciated. It's always nice to start the day off right, not having to worry about what to eat right off the bat. Makes for more time to sightsee!
Even though there appeared to be a lot of guests over the weekend, it was pretty quiet. That's always nice after a long day of playing tourist.
Parking is gated and plentiful, though it is for a fee. Parking lots and walkways were well-lit so it does feel safe.
If I'm in the area, I'd definitely stay here for a third time!

We have stayed here twice since the Covid lockdown, trying our best to be flexible and accommodating but after yesterdays stay, i have to express our disappointment with this Residence Inn property. The property is getting old and run down. The rooms are ok, but beginning to get worn and used. The last two times, our rooms had an inordinate amount of dust so my wife spent the good part of each time sneezing and coughing. My biggest gripe is the poor quality breakfast with poor tasting and skimpy offerings. Very little fresh fruit, not even one banana, no packaged yogurt, and not even sliced breads. Just those watery, chopped up eggs, turkey sausage patties, and inedible waffles. On top of the horrible breakfast, you have to pay extra for parking your car at this property. As a Marriott Elite platinum member, I expect more and will no longer use this property.

The Inn provided us the location and amenities for our recent short stay visiting family in the LA area. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The room was a studio. It was a little dated and some wear was evident. The sofa needs to be replaced as it has seen better days. There were no issues with cleanliness. The property appeared to be well maintained. The provided daily breakfast was very good as there were enough choices to satisfy most guests. The value paid was good in relationship to other properties in the area. I would stay here again should the need arise.

We had stayed in a lot of Marriott Hotels in California and this was the fourth. I made my reservation for the Residence Inn through the Bonvoy App. Before my arrival, I had a few inquiries which were responded to promptly and efficiently by Emmanuel. He extended my late checkout an hour more.
Checked in by Patty was impeccable, she is a Gem. Very professional and left a personal touch. She has upgraded us to a "penthouse unit" on the second floor. She has listened to our purpose of travel and has anticipated our needs.
Complimentary breakfast was an excellent addition, I love the crispy pork bacon, scrambled egg, bagels with cream cheese, and their coffee.
The swimming pool is clean and well-maintained, I got to work early the next morning but did not have the chance to experience it.
First class to everyone! Once again, kudos to Emmanuel and Patty, who has the heart of hospitality. We will definitely return and stay longer.

Very hospitable the moment I walked in. I was there for two days and each day they made me feel very welcomed. Loved the breakfast in the morning. The welcome gift and goodie bag was a beautiful touch. Most definitely going back.

Sorry, no shuttle to the airport, however easy to take a taxi or uber.
LAX only 8 miles away.
It's not close to the beach. If that's what you're after, I'd suggest actually staying near the ocean.
I'd suggest Long Beach as a more economical option than Redondo Beach.
