The Fairmont Miramar Hotel & Bungalows garners accolades for its attentive service and a plethora of amenities, including a pool and gym, all set against the backdrop of stunning ocean views. Nestled close to the beach and local attractions in Santa Monica, it's a prime spot, though guests have noted the downside of high parking costs and ambient noise. While the hotel shines in cleanliness and the spaciousness of certain rooms, some visitors find the decor dated and the noise level intrusive.
Additionally, the value proposition is a point of contention for guests who feel that steep prices and extra fees diminish the hotel's allure. The atmosphere is a mixed bag, with events often leading to a bustling environment that some guests find detracts from the potential for a tranquil retreat.

We had a luxurious final summer splurge at the Fairmont. The staff, particularly the valet, made our vacation. This amazing service continued after we left when we left behind the adapter to charge our rented electric car. Brett Hemingway found it, contacted me when he was away from work, and got it back to me in time to return the rental. We felt so well taken care of!

Planned a rehearsal dinner for 150 guests outdoors at the Fairmont Miramar and had most of our out of town guests staying on the property. We also hosted an outdoor Sunday Brunch. The rehearsal dinner event could not have been nicer. The front driveway was miraculously transformed into a gorgeous setting with perfect mood lighting and plenty of heat lamps underneath that majestic fig tree. The meals were absolutely delicious (guests had a choice of three entrees) and the staff was pleasant, attentive and efficient. Guests raved about the food! The group room block worked out just fine. Kimberly D. was extremely organized and very responsive whenever I needed to reach her concerning any room requests or needs. She was even able to upgrade us to a lovely suite. A real pleasure to work with. The Sunday Brunch was a buffet set up outdoors. Again, the staff handled the group with ease and the food was delicious. The cost of hosting the events and the room rates are not inexpensive, but prices are probably right in line with what is considered a good value for the area. Los Angeles is an expensive place . . . Santa Monica even more so. We have no regrets at having chosen the Fairmont Miramar for our celebration weekend. The only complaints we heard from our guests was the variances in quality of hotel rooms and some guests were disturbed by music coming from the club late at night depending on room location.

Just like many other households : COVID played a huge role in 2020 & first half of 2021 for us. My fiancé has underlying medical issues that really kept us fully at home for 1.5 years. Once we got fully vaccinated it was time to start looking at places to safely get out of the Arizona Heat. We had visited The Fairmont Santa Monica before and loved the people and location so after finding a great deal with via American Express we booked our trip for end of June/beginning of July!
Shortly after that, we got an email from Garrick in guest services asking if there was anything they could do to make our stay more comfortable. I sent a long a few requests, and let me know how special this trip was to us ::: & they 1000% made us feel beyond special! We felt very safe with the staff wearing masks and everything always looked and felt clean. We know that most hospitality spaces are short staffed - but it did not effect the overall service at the Fairmont bc everyone is so friendly and helpful with any request. They upgraded us to a beyond beautiful room & continued to check in without though out the trip and even after! (Which lead us to booking another stay that starts tomorrow :)
We are huge fans of places where the people working start to feel like friends/family and that is how we feel at the Fairmont Miramar. Garrick has gone above and beyond to make sure every detail is thought of and that every trip feels like a true celebration. #onlyatthemiramar #miramarmoments
From the valet/bell desk to the front desk to the housekeeping - service with a smile and that California vibe.
We will never stay at another hotel when on town!!
So thank you Garrick & the entire Fairmont Family for making us feel so special :)

Lobby and Fig Restaurant noise was totally unacceptable due to a lack of sound absorbing carpeting. On each of my four days at the hotel, I observed people in the lobby bar and Fig Restaurant literally yelling at the person sitting next to them. I've never seen anything like this in my entire life! A chaotic atmosphere due to guest decibel levels. Piped music is far too loud, as well.
I'd like to add another issue that was totally off putting. Upon checking in after a long flight, the young lady at the Front Desk informed me that my room would not be cleaned nor would my bed be made each morning. I'm 78 years old and was taught by my nanny to make my own bed every day since age four! Why would I pay $447+/night and be expected to make my own bed? This is the first time in 50 years of global (Australasian/European) business/pleasure travels that I've been told, in essence, "Make your own bed!" I mentioned this to a few business associates in Santa Monica and they were simply aghast. While I understand California water restrictions for sheets and towels and perhaps loss of staff due to COVID and other issues, I refuse to accept that a hotel now expects guests to make their own beds, tidy their own rooms, empty their own trash, and use the same towels for a four night stay.
However, the cleaning women were SUPERB in every way. Cheerful, quick, and thorough! Simply superb!! Unfortunately, on one morning when I asked for an additional bar of soap, the women told me she didn't have any soap on her cart. I mean, truly, why wouldn't the hotel supply her cart with essential guest needs, i.e., soap? She was more than willing to run to get some but time away from her routine troubled me so I told her to forget it. I bought a bar of soap at CVS that day. How does that strike you?
On a brighter note, the food was superb in the Fig Restaurant; I had asked for a quiet corner because one man in our group was celebrating his 81st birthday. The manager went out of her way, quickly and efficiently, to bring us blankets and a heating element as it was a rather chilly evening.
So, my two concerns for your future reputation is 1) how can the Fairmont Miramar lower guest and other ambient noise in the lobby and restaurant and 2) how can the Fairmont Miramar end the expectation of business guests, or any guests for that matter, to clean their own rooms?
Very basic hospitality industry issues for management to discuss and remedy.

With the current Covid situation we were skeptical to stay at a hotel but since we’ve been unable to travel, decided to give it a try.
The Fairmont Miramar in Santa Monica has done a wonderful job setting up a safe environment for their guests while still maintaining somewhat of a ‘normal’ atmosphere.
All of the staff go above and beyond to make you feel welcome and ensure you are well taken care of. The entire front desk staff are friendly and professional. Max and Katy at the front desk went above and beyond to make sure we enjoyed our stay. The food and service at Fig is amazing-Hugh’s service was exceptional.
Everything is clean and set up to accommodate social distancing, we never felt compromised.
We just can’t say enough about how wonderful our experience was and will definitely be back soon.
Highly recommend for anyone looking for a wonderful and relaxing, stress free stay during these crazy times!

Despite in the middle of the Covid era, we had a wonderful stay. It was obvious that the staff was well aware the importance that hygiene plays in the spread of Covid. All staff were masked, frequent sanitation of surfaces were seen, and guests were politely reminded of mask requirements. When we checked in we had our own PPE kit along with our individually wrapped coffee amenities and smores kit. Our suite had a great view of the beach but the highlight was the throwback record player with vintage records to play. With all these extra precautions in place, we were still able to enjoy a relaxing weekend. We enjoyed outdoor dining and cocktails at the Fig while the crash of the ocean played in the background. The complimentary bike rental allowed us to tour the empty beaches from Santa Monica to Venice. Even with the beach closures that weekend, we had a wonderful stay and will definitely be coming back.

Took an opportunity to have a brief overnight trip to the property to celebrate a late New Years. From check in to check out it was a very pleasant experience. Juanitta who took care of us in the lobby was a delight, we joined for dinner at Fig and the bartenders specialty cocktail was perfect. The Steak was cooked perfectly and the meal overall was mouthwatering. The Bungalow was fun, and really amplified the experience. Must mention the IRD manager Francisco for the Champagne and Chocolate Strawberry amenity upon arrival to the room. What a great gesture of hospitality. Thank you for making it a memorable experience.

This is such a great hotel, really nice location and lots of great amenities. The staff here is FANTASTIC, every single employee that we interacted with was super helpful and you could tell that they enjoy their jobs. They all work super hard. So, a word to management, you guys are doing a great job in your hiring, very well-trained staff and very eager to make everyone comfortable. They have a nice lounge area with large doors, which were open because of COVID, so it's well-ventilated and there are heaters on the patio overlooking the waterfalls and koi pond. The food is exceptional and service in the lounge is awesome. I felt safe dining and hanging out here, they're very good at wiping things down and they all wear shields and a mask, so they're definitely on top of it. The rooms are very nice, great view of the pier and the huge beach is one crosswalk away. There is a wonderful walking path along the beach, a couple actually, but you can choose to walk along the beach on a paved trail or walk up top with a nice view of PCH and into Palisades Park. I would definitely stay here again and you will not be disappointed. Great hotel, excellent location, wonderful restaurants on site and within walking distance, and fantastic staff all around.

I returned to the Fairmont once again to visit my son who lives in a Santa Monica. When making my reservation I called the hotel directly. My call to the front desk was answered by Gorkem who was sweet and knowledgeable and in a few minutes booked my room for me. When I arrived at the hotel she was on shift and remembered our conversation word for word and took care of all my “needy” requests, with patience and a smile. So now I’ve been here for a few days. I have most of my meals at the Fairmont lounge, inside or by the fountain, or at the Fig. The food is great but the service is better. Everyone is happy to accommodate my son and I with all our special requests. Lupe’s happy energy is infectious, Juanita is always so gracious and Antonia is sweet and patient, especially with my son who has a Herculean breakfast/brunch, early lunch, and is always “starving”. At the Fig at 5 (Santa Monica’s best food And drink) for half the price 5-6pm I’m greeted by Emily, at the bar, who seriously, not only, remembers my name but also that I prefer the Gruner. The Fig also serves Breakfast and if you are alone you can have it at the bar with good conversation and a smile from Olya. There are many wonderful hotels all around the world but the consistent great service and kind, professional attitude that I find at the Fairmont cannot be beat. Thank you ladies for always making be happy to be here.

Overall terrible experience. I would not recommend this to anyone for the price we paid. This was for our minimoon/honeymoon also...
Our shower had issues, our sink was leaking, our air conditioner in the room was broken so it was very warm when we slept. We could not leave our door open because we were above the Bungalow with very loud music and noises. The iPad in our room for room service didn't work and we told the front desk multiple times. They said they would have someone fix it and then sent us the exact same iPad without any explanation. We went back to the front desk and they then explained the system was down. The menu on the iPad, TV in room and at the restaurants differed.
We did not get our hotel or valet credit explained to us upon check in and had to call to get our resort/food credit explained to us but that felt like pulling teeth with whoever we spoke to.
There was one member of the restaurant staff that was very rude when we asked a couple questions about if we can have food delivered to the pool at certain times.
While we felt comfortable staying here during COVID, the masks protocols were not enforced or very clear at all.
Additionally, when we made our reservation over the phone, we were ensured by the staff member who said they "don't normally take reservations over the phone" that they would not charge or put a hold on the credit card until we actually arrived at the hotel on the day of. When I woke up the next morning, our card was charged about $1,200 (equivalent to one nights stay). Nobody asked about our stay when we went to check out, overall this was a terrible experience. When we booked the Fairmont for our honeymoon/mini moon, we splurged and wanted the great service for a 5 star hotel but were severely disappointed and would be very unlikely to come back or recommend anyone to stay here. We thought about leaving early but wanted to make the best out of our stay and our honeymoon/mini moon and not have it remembered as the honeymoon where we left early because of our hotel experience.

Yes. But good luck getting a space by the pool
Yes, I agree with the above. Certainly it would be better to be based in West Hollywood to be able to enjoy the more touristy side of LA. Santa Monica is a different experience, more living like the locals I would say
The rooms are small for families but the location, service and proximity to the beach is great for families
We were there before the “beach season” so it wasn’t open. I believe it only operates from Memorial Day-labor day. I’m sure the hotel can answer that question if you give them a call.
