We made a last second reservation after departing another property due to problems with our room there. Joy got us into our room, in the 17 series fast. The room was small but very well outfitted - bathrobes, minibar, etc.
The raison d'etre of this place is in the name - small balconies overlooking Ocean Avenue, the pier, and the sea beyond. Very pleasant.
Sleep quality was very good. The bed was comfortable, the room was quiet and we were not disturbed by the HVAC.
The bathroom featured a stall shower with rainfall shower head. Soap, lotion, shower gel and conditioner were in Lather pump bottles, but there were also vanity kits, a toothbrush kit and a sponge.
There was a Keurig in our room, and a better one in the lobby. If you want breakfast the hotel gives a 20% off coupon for breakfast at the Shore Hotel, a related property down the block. We checked that out but the room was not to our liking.
The hotel has valet parking at $46 a night. I thought service there, and throughout the hotel, was very good. I would return.

This was the least expensive ocean view hotel in the Santa Monica/Venice area so it is a relative bargain. The room was very nice and my ocean view room had a nice vista of the beach, the shoreline north of Santa Monica, and the Santa Monica Pier. As you see in some of the guest photos, the view is somewhat obstructed by a small museum across the street as well as the mature foliage but I knew that when I made the reservation and was pleased with the view nonetheless. While the beach is a short walk, if you are a bodyboarder or surfer you will want to walk about 1/2 mile south of the Pier to towers 20-24 where the surf is much better. The beautiful and famous (as seen in hundreds of movies and TV shows) Palisades are just across the street and the Pier not much further. The Third Street shopping pedestrian promenade is a few short blocks away. Lots of nearby restaurants with takeout service too. So the location is excellent. This is a much newer hotel compared to others in the area. The rooms had nice amenities. The HVAC system was quiet and no noise from other rooms or the street traffic. The bath has a large rain-style shower head which was very enjoyable. Their COVID protocols seemed excellent. Thus includes no housekeeping of your room during your stay. My only suggestion is that the valet attendant should wear gloves that are changed with each customer. Get the rate that includes valet to save on the substantial valet fee. One negative note for the Santa Monica/Venice beach area is that it has a large homeless population evidenced by several makeshift tent camps. (I walked to Venice and back.) They seem to keep mostly to themselves and are not aggressive panhandling. However, single women might be uncomfortable outside alone in the evening.

We went up to visit our long time neighborhood of Santa Monica and Pacific Palisades on our first fully vaccinated excursion away from home. Ocean View and its sister hotel The Shores are on our favorite Santa Monica street, overlooking the beautiful beach, the Bay, and the Santa Monica pier. Our room was quite comfortable and the view was great (though the balcony was quite small). However, we went at Easter Week and an unwanted call the first night and noise from the street the next night caused us to move out of the oceanfront room. Back from Ocean, it was quiet but lacked the special character we wanted for a special visit.
Despite these downsides, we really appreciated the price adjustment made by the Room Manager, Gerald, because of the unexpected noise, and the work of the housekeeper, Prudy, who moved our things when we were out meeting longtime friends.
For a great location and a moderate Santa Monica price, I could recommend it when it is not for a holiday week or weekend. The sister hotel, The Shores, is just far enough south of major streets, and a bit more set back from Ocean Ave, to be a good alternative. And if you want a charger for your electric vehicle, The Shores, rather than Ocean View, has one.

Great location. Housekeeping needs to vacuum hallways better. Also, there were tissue dispensers so you didn't have to touch the elevator button, but they were empty at least half the time over a 2 day stay. Note there is an $18 "destination fee" per night, which is a combination of various city taxes and assessments.

This hotel was directly across the street from the Santa Monica Pier and the beach. There were several restaurants on the same street of the hotel which was convenient. I decided to order most of my meals via Grubhub and experienced no problems with having my food delivered directly to my room. A few things to know: The Valet parking was close to $50.00 per night, the rooms do not have a microwave, however, they do have a refrigerator, you'll need to request a Ocean view, all rooms do not offer this view, lastly the rooms are not large but very comfortable. Overall, the customer service here was superb and the Housekeeping team did an excellent job cleaning the rooms. I felt very safe that everything was approximately sanitized.

This hotel is centrally located to everything you want and need. Walking distance to the Santa Monica pier, bars, restaurants and shopping. Valet parking only and it’s a bit pricey but honestly if you don’t plan on leaving the Santa Monica area a rental car isn’t needed. You can literally walk to the Santa Monica outlet. Promenade and several other restaurants. The ocean view room facing Ocean Ave will give you beautiful views of the ocean. The interior of this hotel has a few issues but I could overlook most because of the customer service and nice view from the balcony. The bed is hard, lumpy & uncomfortable, furniture a little outdated. Walls are thin- can hear the neighbors conversation. You can hear the housekeepers and staff loudly talking on radio from the hallway. All the doors slam, which is disturbing especially when trying to sleep.

I stayed at ocean view last week. I wanted to say I felt very safe there regardless of the pandemic. Everyone was wearing masks and they had hand sanitizer in different locations for guests. The staff was also very nice. I spoke to David who was kind enough to give me some recommendations to do in LA bc a lot of things are currently closed. He had a lot of knowledge and was very respectful. Overall my stay was excellent.

I stayed here 3 nights with a friend and we felt totally comfortable. The hotel and rooms were super clean and respectful with health and safety measures, and the staff was super friendly. Doris, Joy, Zulme, and Luis were wonderful. The cleaning service was amazing. She even organized my make up on a wash cloth so it was displayed nicely and I found that so kind. I sought her out from the front desk so I could give her a gratuity directly. The location is amazing although, it does feel like the area could use a fire hose cleaning on the sidewalks lol. The hotel is near the pier and it draws tons of people including the less fortunate homeless. It's hard to see and they are everywhere. We were not approached and didn't feel unsafe, though. Always lots of people around. The valet is the way to go if you drive. Just give it up and spend the extra $$ to have 5-star car service. Call from your room and most times, it will be waiting. Also, they offer a discount breakfast at a nearby hotel (just to the right of the Ocean View) and whoever is managing the quality of food, service, and efficiency is 100%.

What a great little hotel with a big heart. Not only is it situated in a great location, right in the middle of everything in santa monica, but it also offers all the amenities that you would expect from a 5 star hotel.

At the end of March 2022 we stayed for two nights at the Ocean View Hotel in Santa Monica. The location directly on the beach opposite the Santa Monica Pier is outstanding. As requested, we had a very quiet room on the top floor facing the courtyard, the room was spacious, very clean and also the bathroom gave no cause for criticism. We were very satisfied with these overnight stays. The only downer is that for two nights about $ 100 parking fees are due.

Booked through my regular travel agent and nothing was mentioned about resort fees being payable. Had to cough up in departure. Also hotel charges 50 dollars per night for car parking. Very few options nearby to park so had to use it. Added a lot to our stay. It’s fairly regular to charge resort fees now. Las Vegas was extortion at 59 dollars per night. Funnily SF didn’t charge us anything so was happy with that.
There are more places to choose from in the Santa Monica area.
