The Westin Pasadena, while generally appreciated for its comfortable rooms and well-maintained cleanliness, receives mixed feedback. Guests enjoy the modern gym and picturesque courtyard but wish for a broader breakfast selection. While some guests commend the attentive staff, others have had less favorable interactions with the front desk. The hotel's charm is occasionally overshadowed by dated decor and water pressure issues. Despite its prime location, which is often lauded, the value proposition is questioned due to perceived high costs and varying service quality.

This hotel is within a couple blocks of Colorado Blvd with a free hotel shuttle that will drop you off and pick you up until around 10:45pm. Hotel rooms are clean and lobby and staff were nice.

Bathroom was old with the only thing new being the sink. The tub in some rooms are new with a glass door. I was not lucky enough to get a renovated bathroom. Rather shabby and old bathroom. Pics online show a bathrobe in room. None in my room. So be prepared for the pictures online to not match up to reality when you arrive

A decent choice if you can get a room for under $200 otherwise a bit overpriced for an older hotel...

First, we're tough on properties, so that the hotel was remarkable enough to warrant making a review is noteworthy.
We needed a place to stay while letting open house occur at home. Weather has been on the cool side, so beach was not a choice. Add that we have two dogs that would have to make the stay with us
Pasadena has good eats, and good walking areas, so we chose to book here. TBH, the property is certainly not a resort property, but more a business support type feel.
Access to the entrance is a circular drive, the attendants were helpful in finding a luggage cart, and they offer valet and self park for the same price.
It's the front desk that makes this property valuable. We were given an opportunity to upgrade to a junior suite, and they were delightful in doing so.
The junior suite room is spacious, with a 2 TVs, sectional sofa, built in desk, and free internet.
Was some concern the dogs were going to be freaked by staying in a hotel room, and there was quite a bit of growling and burst barks, but eventually they settled in for the night.
There was a wedding party at the hotel, but it wasn't an issue. Briefly there was some rambunctious activity but all was quiet by 10pm
Hotel is close walking to old downtown, and cutting through city hall makes quick work of it, too.
Should mention that there's a nice park just down a couple of blocks, and the dogs were super happy about it.
Back to the front desk. They were kind enough to get us early check AND late check out. We were elated with the results, so we booked another Saturday night. Mark, the front desk person, was exceptional in addressing our needs when we hit a bump on arrival today. Can't say enough about how well he handle us, and was able to take care of the issue.
We just returned from a luxury property in the desert and that front desk wasn't as friendly or as quick of foot as Mark is here at the Westin.
Again, we're a bit painful as hotel guests, so take this in consideration when looking around for accommodations in Pasadena.

I arrived to the hotel at midnight. Valet was there and was great. Yes, it is 22 dollars. I checked in quickly. The lobby area was very nice. Went up to the room. The room is very nice as well, all furniture was in good condition. The room itself is what i would expect from a hotel like this. The shower was good as well, however be careful setting anything on the bathroom floor because the showers design allows water to easily fall onto the floor. If you have more than two people, ask for towels ahead of time because the room only had two large towels. A large television in the room and a refrigerator. The refrigerator did have two water bottles inside... i don’t know wether the hotel provided them or if they were left in there by prior guests, so I left them alone. The beds... this was the true disappointment. The beds were not very comfortable and felt like cheap beds. Fix the beds and you have a nice hotel here.

We stayed at the Westin this past week choosing it over the Langham because it said they still had 24 hour room service on their website (totally wrong).
They have the hotel set up so you use all back of the house access. Service elevators, housekeeping hallways, basically all the areas they have kept is out of for the last 50 years. It is very dreary and depressing. The room was absolutely disgusting. Tired, stained and generally unkempt. Linens were hospital level. Needless to say there was no room service and there was no housekeeping for a 5 day stay! The valet is in essence running the whole hotel and taking care of the guests needs. We ended up checking out after a few days. It was better to live in construction than to live in a noisy, dormitory style hotel room.
It could not have been worse (well i guess it could have been).
Kudos to the valet for making the whole thing run. Absolutely shocking how far this hotel has fallen over the years. Sad. Please be advised this is NOT the most beautiful part of Pasadena. Far from it. I am an50 year Pasadena resident and i was mortified to think visitors are coming here with any type of expectation. It’s not the experience you want a visitor to Pasadena to have- Covid or no Covid. Hotels are doing it well elsewhere, someone needs to help this location out from with in the corporation before you completely lose control of it. Sad.

Extraordinary floral arrangements in marble lobby.

Room has Large dead space entry area with decorative table. For 2 people in a 2 queen bed room the room is small by American stds. Not big enough to add a small commonly found table.
With 2 Queen beds Two people could not pass between beds at the same time. There was 1 robe in a 2 queen room. No slippers. Minimal generic toiletries.
Adequate large soft bath towels. The reason to stay is the extremely comfortable
Beds with 4 pillows each and a duvet.
Windows open, nice touch.
Redone bath with subway beige tiles and granite white sink. Old bathtub and no separate shower in this small 5 ft wide bathroom. Big deficit imo.
Room has frig and a large easy to operate TV system . Headboard has 2 built in individual lights. Nice touch.
There was a rubber housekeeping glove on the hall floor the night of our arrival. ...our bellhop walked by it .it was there to greet us in the a.m.
Very accommodating and well trained staff. Full breakfast menu with waiters and no buffet. Still quite efficient.
We were only in hotel for 16 hrs but
what would stop me from another stay is a big resort fee they slap on and overly expensive parking, although there may be be a public lot less than a block away.
Nice patio area with behind the hotel restaurant fire pit.
Probably a 4 star property.

Check in was smooth and we put our request in for extra Towels pre- arrival on the Marriott Bonvoy App. A late 4:00 pm check out request as Platinum Marriott members along with a breakfast voucher ( worth $50) per day were offered or points. I chose the breakfast. You can eat inside Venetia or outside on the fountain patio. The full breakfast, Burrito breakfast and granola with fruit and yogurt were excellent. OJ, and Starbucks coffee . The breakfast choices were very good to start the day. The restaurant staff were exceptional, fast, and friendly.
Our room on the 9th floor gave us views of the San Gabriel Mountains and City Buildings. We turned off the central air and enjoyed a cool breeze from 2 room windows you can open but not enough to fall out. The beds were heavenly and the 2 bedroom had a hidden refrig, and large TV . Our room was missing a hair dryer but After a call room services delivered one 40 min later. Rainfall shower head with hot water and good pressure. The toilet seat was a little too low for ease and comfort for me plus it would have been nice to have a hook somewhere to hang a robe in the bathroom. The bathroom doors are pocket sliders. We ate at a local fav “ Lucky Boy” 1 block away . There are other restaurants very close by. Not much masking in California but the staff in the restaurant and cleaning services were masking. We are from the east coast and chose to mask in public places, elevators , hotels etc. Hand sanitizer stations were in the lobby, a computer with printing in the “ Library” was there for guests.@ An Asian Museum and City Hall are close. We were in for the CrueleFest concert at the Rose-bowl. A short drive away. We drove from LAX to Pasadena - about 1 hr depending on freeway traffic.A church and gas station are near by. We used the $ 22 self park with in and out privileges that connects to the hotel which was convenient. Street Parking is metered with an App credit card set up on the street. We didn’t want to deal with that hassle and walked to Old Town Pasadena instead. We booked months ahead of time to get a better rate. The hotel was sold out. We enjoyed our stay.

I cannot say enough good things about this hotel. The service was exceptional, the hotel itself is beautiful and rich in culture and history, the rooms are beautiful, updated, classy and clean, with large walk in showers. They went above and beyond to accommodate me as I am on a crisis travel assignment, and even extended my check out time until 5pm as my location can vary each day. They offered a significant discount for frontline workers and the entire stay with taxes/fees, and valet was less than 140.00/night. Well worth the money, they made a forever customer!

As a Marriott Tianium/Platinum member I was extremely unsatisfied with The Westin Pasadena. The facilities of this hotel is on average but service provided by hotel staff is far below average. For example:

1. During my stay the network went offline unexpectedly which leads to no WIFI access inside the room or in other public area. The front desk knew this but did not inform any customer proactively during check-in process.

2. The staff at front desk is not familiar with the parking policy and double-charged me for Valet Parking because they provided wrong information. No apologies. No refunds issued as they insisted that the parking fee was collected by 3rd party companies. Very negligent.

3. They did not give substantial room upgrade for Tianium/Platinum member even when the hotel was not fully occupied. Not a chance if you expect a upgrade to Suite. They even does not upgrade you to Deluxe room.

This is a very nice Higher End Hotel. Right downtown, with amazing views of all of Pasadena.
Welcome was terrific, and very helpful. Helped us find options for dinner. Room was nice (a bit noisy with downtown traffic all around, even on the 9th floor, but I guess that is pretty normal in big cities). Bed was big and soft, but could use a firmer pillow. Bathroom was very modern, with waterfall shower head and sprayer. Not much counter space to put your stuff though.
Had a very nice welcome buffet the first night (I didn't look the second night!) with meats and cheeses and large wine selection (I don't drink so I don't know if it was good selection or not). And great chocolate Strawberries.
Departure was very nice, and super helpful.
Parking is plentiful in the basement, with easy access into the Hotel ... they give you a discount for hotel stays, but it's only $3 on a normally $18 charge, so that's not really a great deal.
Breakfast at the restaurant was quite good, but very very expensive for what you got (if you paid for it ... I got a breakfast voucher from Marriott BonVoy)

This was absolutely my worst ever hotel experience. We arrived at the WESTIN at approx 10:00pm after a long day of traveling. We were told it would be a $50 deposit for incidentals. We received our room keys and proceeded to our room. We arrived at our designated room and attempted to go inside when we were met with other guest already in the room we were assigned. We went Immediately back to the front desk where the attendant Told us we were given keys to the wrong room! The next morning my family and I headed out to breakfast. As breakfast ended I gave the waiter my credit card for the bill. He returned quickly and let me know it was declined. I checked my account quickly and found a charge of $552.80 from the Westin. I was not made aware of this charge nor was I give. A receipt for this charge. We had prepaid for the room through Expedia and had no knowledge we would be charged such an absorbent amount for a deposit. I called the front desk and was told it was a mistake and several guest had the same thing happen to them, as it was a problem in there system. I’m writing this review after a week and have yet to see my deposit returned! Called and spoke with a manager who wasn’t apologetic at all! Also did not offer any type of consolation for my family missing out on activities as my account was now overdrawn.
All of that to stay in a room that was dated. Also make sure you request house keeping as I was told they no longer provide unless requested due to Covid regulations even though most of not all Covid Guidelines for California had bee lifted prior to our stay. My daughter found a “water bug” aka ROACH meeting her in the bathtub as she prepared to shower. Again. Beware!! There is a nice Hilton less than a mile away that we will be staying at next time we stay in Pasadena!

Rule of Thumb' to follow - Always best to check directly with each property on any policy to be safe, particularly for your specific arrival and departure dates. The property or chain may/or may not, have one now, however on April 1st or beyond that date into the future the policy might change.
