We checked into Hi-Way Host on December 31 as it was only a little over a mile from our Rose Parade seats. We stayed in a no smoking room, but as soon as I opened the door I could smell the strong scent of cigarettes. I opened all the windows and kept the door open to try to air out the room. The front desk gave me a bottle of Fe-breeze to spray over the bedding and other fabrics but it didn't really help. Additionally, the bathroom sink only let out a trickle of water. The shower was cool, no hot water. The view out the back window was of appliances dumped in the back. The remote for the television didn't work. The only redeeming value was the beautiful view of the mountains from outside the front door.

i was skeptical about this place as i drove into the parking lot. it looked like it might be a dump with monthly tenants. but i was surprised when i saw the room- it was clean, had a fridge and microwave, and lots of windows. and it was a good value on booking.com. there was also a computer in the lobby to use.
the only negatives were that there were only 6 tv channels and one of those was porn!! and the owner is very poor at customer service- he doesn't give consistent or clear answers to questions and definitely gives an attitude that he doesn't want to be bothered by guests. there was also mold on the shower stall ceiling.
if you want a room with a microwave, you have to request it.

I ended up here via an express deal on Hotwire where the identity of the hotel is not revealed until after payment has been made. Excellent price of $56 + tax of $14. This is an older 1950's style motel. Pretty shabby on the outside but my room was fine: Very clean, with queen sized bed + refrigerator + microwave. Very satisfied for the price.

I wanted to try this inexpensive ($100 ??) hotel for a one night stay.
BED BUGS IN THE BED. I smashed one and took a photo.
WIFI is a joke. It works for a minute or two, then down for the rest of the hour.
The room was very bare, the bed hard (they claim "pillow top", uh no). The sign out front said "Brand New Units". No it was not new in any respect. Outside the door was an overflowing garbage can chained to the stairs railing (see photos). The lights worked. The Heat/AC worked. The toilet flushed. Not much else good to say.
Neighbor comes out and opens the doors to her van and blasts the radio as loud as possible as she loads up her kids, yelling at them to "GET IN THE CAR". You get the picture.
Shady lady across the way. I saw more than one gentleman enter her room.
I left to find another place to sleep after finding the BED BUG. No refund, no discount. $100 lesson learned. Don't waste your money.

It’s within walking distance of Sprouts and Cost Plus and Target is a bit of a trek. But, hey, if you’re hungry, I found a half eaten stale burrito next to the night stand and a fuzzy almond on the floor by the lamp if you still need more protein.

It’s In an industrial area so it’s deserted. It’s also a 10 minute walk from the Sierra Madre Gold Line stop. The room itself was so dirty. Bathroom had black mold and the toilet had poop stains on the outside. Lamps were broken and only 1 of the outlets worked but sparked every time I plugged in my phone. It took 8 hours to get a full charge so something is fishy with the electrical here. Def a fire hazard.

The pool was locked ans they wouldn’t let anyone in. It was 96 degrees but I’m probably lucky I didn’t go in ans catch some funky bacterial infection. Just gross.

I'm renaming this to the NO Way Motel! Needed a last minute 1 night room in Pasadena so I booked through Hotwire...truly disappointed! I highly advise anyone to skip this motel.

Check in was any time after 2 PM. Got to the Motel at 2:30 PM and there's a sign that read, "Back at 3 PM". That was frustrating as it was incredibly hot and I really needed to use the bathroom. So, we left to a restaurant and came back at 4 PM.

There is a $20 CASH deposit required. Good thing I had cash ($23 exactly), but that would have been useful to know prior to checking in.

Took a quick glance at the pool...nope, not doing it! Definitely would catch some flesh eating bacteria from that pool.

The room...well, NO toilet paper. WTF? Overall, pretty dingy and old with a paint job. Toilet was unstable so one hard lean to the right and I was scared to topple over with the toilet. At 6 AM it clogged up, wouldn't flush so we went to front desk and they said maintenance arrived at 8 AM. So, bathroom was just out of commission.

The unexpected guests...tiny roaches scattered all over the sink when I turned on the bathroom light. Ugh!! My skin is crawling.

The noise...so annoying!! The guests above us must have been performing a triathalon or something. It was a pattern of running, door slams, yelling...and repeat.

I saw a Best Western a block away and I was tempted, but then I told myself it's just 1 night. I will survive.

I am the type of guest that likes to lounge around until check out time but with this place I was ready to leave ASAP.

There were only three good things to say about this place. Friendly front office, it was quiet and the bed was comfortable. We brought our own pillows. First of all, it is not a B &B. Secondly, the pictures shown on the website must be one of the newly renovated rooms. The sign out front makes you think that ALL have been renovated, but obviously, not. We saw two rooms, 109 and 126, haven't been renovated to the standards shown in the website pictures. I should have taken more pictures but the ones shown by another reviewer are very similar to what we saw. First, they put us in 109, we were appalled, vinyl flooring, not well laid; only a bed with side tables with lamps and a wooden chair and dresser. Broken blinds, no screens on two windows and torn screen on the bathroom window. Since the air conditioner wasn't working they put us in 126. That was in slightly better condition. That room had a nicer laid vinyl floor, a desk plus the other furniture that 109 had, as well as the broken blinds, missing and torn screens. There was a dead spider in the corner, which stayed there the two days we were there. The shower head came out of a large hole in the wall and there was broken tile. Dirty walls and unfinished molding around the AC. The second day we left at 8 AM returning at 4 PM. The room was not made up. So when we asked if we were supposed to make our own bed, the office manager called someone to do it, but that was it. They did not empty the trash, replace the coffee cups and coffee amenities or sweep away the dead spider. Won't be staying there again. Lots of cars in the parking lot, so I guess lots of people don't have an issue with the conditions. You get what you pay for.
