Clean and refreshed hotel. I love their breakfast bar so much. I always look for Hyatt place. Under the refreshed facade you can note some age of the hotel. Like in this case toilet was wobbly. However the refresh of the decor was wonderful and makes you feel like you’re at a high-expense hotel but with a great price. The hallways were clean. The smell of all parts of the hotel was fresh. The beds were comfortable, they had a pool. It’s in a good location and close to old town and cal tech. And did I mention the breakfast bar?! Last but not least the employees made me feel very welcome and accommodated, especially the breakfast bar staff who were ensuring the bar was stocked and the waffles were fresh! :)

Overall, by experience was extremely good. I stayed for 30 days while working onsite, and the staff grew to recognize me and my routines. The hotel is in the midst of a shopping park, which I found to be very enjoyable. There are also 3-2 blocks in each direction of shopping and restaurants. Walking was easy. Also convenient to Route 210. The only negatives were surprises in the pricing: Breakfast is well worth the price, but is easy to mistake for being "complimentary." Parking at the hotel is $24/night, and not well advertised (it's not clear what other parking options are available). The laundry service was convenient, and pricing WAS clear, but also very expensive, 3-4 times what I'd pay at a typical dry-cleaner. Again, everything was well worth what I paid, but it would have been nice if Hyatt had been a bit more upfront about these costs (laundry excepted). The rooms were very clean, and attended to daily. Funishing and design were modern and very pleasant.

When traveling as a family, I always start with Hyatt House followed by Hyatt Place as our primary go to brand because of the room layout and complementary breakfast. Hyatt Place Pasadena did not disappoint, welcomed us lavishly and recognized my Hyatt member status upon check in.
We were upgraded to a suite room and it was beautiful. The shower head pressure was on point. And we enjoy being able move about in the living quarter after closing the bedroom sliding door so that our toddler can sleep while we watch TV.
I had called in advanced to confirm our parking situation. The front desk staff was knowledgeable and extremely courteous to make us feel comfortable. As a local resident to Southern California, I knew Hyatt Place is conveniently located by The Paseo in the Pasadena's Civic Center district along the historic Colorado Boulevard, just east of Old Town Pasadena. What I didn't realize is that it is actually connected to the open-air shopping center, thus saving time and parking fee if you want to shop or eat at the restaurants. Though due to the current COVID pandemic, many of the shops are closed.
Not the hotel's fault but during our stay, there was construction right next to the hotel. The noise pollution was kept at a minimal but we were able to hear local traffic as they speed pass the metal plates on the road. I was not bothered by it but we were traveling with a 2 year old toddler and we were worried the sound might interrupt his sleep. Fortunately, it did not. Throughout the stay, we also noticed a very slight vibration in the room. Again, it might be the construction but it did not bother us too much.
The salt water swimming pool on the second floor was heated and about 3 1/2 feet deep throughout. It was excellent for entertaining my toddler. I much enjoyed the salt water pool because of the lack of that strong chlorine smell. I notice the pool was mostly shaded during the day so the heated water definitely helped.
The breakfast was average and as expected. All the amenities and refreshments are there. But comparing my experience with other Hyatt Places pre-2019, the hot food (egg, sausage, potatoes, etc) is just not back to the same quality as pre-pandemic level. I look forward to when the hotel can return to serving the regular buffet style breakfast and allow the patrons to manage their own risk tolerance in terms of what they are comfortable with during this pandemic.
In sum, HP Pasadena is excellent and we highly highly recommended it

Spent 7 nights, over $2000 Thanksgiving week at Hyatt Place Pasadena, service was terrible, room wasn't cleaned properly no clean sheets despite complying with mgt request to book appt night before for cleaning, only had this 1 failed cleaning for the entire week, maid didn't come at appt time as mgt insisted we agree to, mgt wanted disabled husband & I to vacate room for minimum of 3 hrs before maid would come because of Covid to protect maid, despite husband & I being fully vaccinated w/3 shots & over 65; had requested shower chair at time of book, prior to arrival & at check-in, which never came, had to get our own shower chair which we bought for my disabled husband; rugs inside the room & hallways appeared dirty & dingy e.g. not shampooed in past year perhaps (when they renovate they should switch to hard surface flooring in rooms and common areas), paid for included breakfast but ended at 9:00 a.m., disabled husband doesn't get up early enough to get to breakfast that early, so had to find restaurant outside hotel; parking entrance on 1 way street Green makes location difficult as to have to circle hotel & return regardless of direction you are coming from. I was driving in to Pasadena from out of state & called Hyatt to reconfirm, a 3rd time that I was guaranteeing the entire week reservation for late arrival (they had my credit card to charge for late arrival) & Hyatt's customer service rep argued with me & said I needed to get there before 9:00 p.m. Will never go back to this Hyatt location & makes me concerned other Hyatt locations might be same. I've stayed at Hyatt's elsewhere in past did not encounter this terrible situation. I travel frequently all over US & in Europe. This stay was a terrible disappointment - week long business trip to Los Angeles & visit family at Thanksgiving. Pillows were also terrible, appeared old, as lumpy, no fluff to them.

I stayed here two nights and wish I could have stayed longer! The staff were friendly and helpful. My room was on the top floor, overlooking the pool. It was well-designed and spacious. Due to coronavirus, the fitness room was closed but it had good equipment, space and natural light. Guests were able to reserve pool time. Both times I used it I was the only one there and it was relaxing. Breakfast was modified due to coronavirus, with a pretty good selection of food items. The hotel is in a great location, with easy access to shops, restaurants, Colorado Ave, etc. Parking is easy in the underground garage. Most importantly in this time of pandemic, the hotel is serious about sanitation. I saw staff cleaning all the time. Thank you, Hyatt!

One small item: I wish that the room fan had a higher speed. The A/C was cool enough, but I like to have some air flowing. I did suggest they they have some portable room fans for those who wish more air circulation.

I highly recommend this hotel!

My wife and I spent four nights at the Hyatt Place Hotel in Pasadena in mid-October, 2021. It was a nice stay.

The hotel is fairly new, open for only about two years. It’s located on Green Street in the Paseo Pasadena development in downtown Pasadena. The area around the hotel appeared to be very safe and walkable. Parking is under the hotel and was $24 a day.

The room was very well laid out. There a sitting area which contains a sofa to the side of the king bed. On the other side of the room is a desk, with electrical outlets at desk level, a chest of drawers, and a closet. On the side of the closet opposite the chest of drawers is a space that’s just the right size to put your suitcase on a stand. If you have two suitcases, there’s a space in the sofa area where it can be put.

The bed was comfortable. There’s a light and nightstand on each side of the bed, with an electrical outlet above the nightstand.

The bath is adequately large, with a single sink, a toilet and a shower. There are the usual set of amenities in the bath area.

The WiFi was easy to connect to and adequately fast, about 10 Mbps up and down. There’s also an Ethernet cable on the desk and if you connect to it, you will get almost 100 Mbps up and down.

There’s a small refrigerator in the room as well as a one-cup coffee maker.

Breakfast is served buffet style in the lobby area. Scrambled eggs and bacon or sausage was provided as well as a variety of other breakfast items.

The staff was uniformly excellent.

A very nice hotel and recommended for a stay in Pasadena.

One would expect that new hotels in 21st century would meet certain high expectations and standards. However unfortunately that's not the case with Hyatt Hotel in Pasadena:
1. No bottles of water. Elementary sign of respect and welcome to a guest.
2. No TV checkout
3. Can't enter hotel from parking lot if no key (for example on check in)
4. No restaurant on site
5. Marijuana smell in a corridor and you could feel it in room
6. Construction outside waking up at 7AM. Workers can see inside of your room
7. Small trash cans, some of them are with holes (how you supposed to recycle coffee or other beverage)?
8. Breakfast till 9AM. If you are on vacation and wake up at 9.30 forget about your meal and stay hungry.

Honestly I'm know staying in 2 star motel and even this motel is better than the service which was provided.

This is our second time staying at the property (first trip was pre-Covid). Each time we stayed a week so this property is reasonably priced for a lengthy stay. Our first stay was nice which is why we came back.

Main issue this trip is the lack of housekeeping and service. Website said limited housekeeping which we’re fine with and front desk said we will have rooms cleaned on third night or everyday if we request. After the 3rd night our room was still not cleaned and we called in the morning of the 4th day to have our room cleaned that day. We came back at 10pm to find out our room wasn’t cleaned and called to inform the front desk and request fresh towels. The next morning (5th day) we got a call from the front desk asking if the room was cleaned and since it wasn’t it would be cleaned that day. Again, we got home quite late 10-11pm to find out the room still wasn’t cleaned. We called the front desk and they apologized and said they would make sure the room was cleaned on the 6th day. By that time the room stank of garbage (were we supposed to leave our trash in the hallway each day and disgust other guests?) and our room ran out of toilet paper and tissues. Our daughter had an accident on the bed and we definitely needed the room cleaned. We woke up and spoke to the front desk who assured us the room would be cleaned that day. We came back to the hotel that night at midnight to see the beds made and when we opened the covers we discovered the sheets weren’t changed. The cleaner just made the bed without inspecting and changed the towels (see pic).

We called the front desk who said they’ll drop off new sheets for us to change which was unacceptable at that point. My wife wanted to check out immediately at that point but it was midnight and we only had to put up with the horrendous service for another 36 hours. I asked for a room change which they provided but it was smaller than our original room. It took a while to repack and move our things which added to the unpleasant experience.

We’re big fans of Hyatt (have attained Discoverist status) but this will be the last time we stay at this hotel. Hyatt Place Pasadena would be fine for travelers staying 1-2 nights but beyond that we would not wish this on our worst enemies. We’ll stay at Bonvoy properties next time for the lengthy stay to accumulate points towards their loyalty program.

12 more hours before we can check out of this forgettable experience and we’re counting down the hours with glee!

We understand the hotel and travel industry may be impacted by Covid or labor shortages, but if you can’t provide the basic services a loyal Hyatt member should receive, at least state this upfront so expectations are managed. In addition, while housekeeping services may be limited, at least have them remove the garbage and check on toilet paper in each room. That shouldn’t take more than 2 mins per room.

While parking could be considered pricy, it was abundant during our stay, which was very welcome as my husband is still recovering from an injury. The staff was super friendly and I always appreciate that. The room was clean and comfortable, though I will say shower pressure could be better. Overall, the rooms were pretty quiet! I loved the location as you can literally walk out the back door to an open-air mall for some food, and there are plenty of restaurants within walking distance on historic Route 66. We chose to stay here due to the proximity to grocery as well.

Sleek, white, and clean, I found much to like in this hotel, and I plan to return.
First, the location: a short ride to the Huntington, and even better, a short walk to multiple restaurants, churches, the grand old downtown Pasadena post office, and so much more.
Second, the entrance, lobby, front desk, and bar area are really great. Perfect photo ops, welcoming, warm, and smart young people at the check-in desk soon called me by name. Best, the bar area has a wonderfully smart, if small menu. Between the food that you can ring up yourself and the bar menu, I often found myself not needing to leave for a quick, healthy, gluten-free meal. The bar tender frequently worked alone and did double-duty cleaning and all manner of things, as I observed. Yet, he was always instantly available and so helpful. The bar and free breakfast area was always spotless. Free breakfast was better than most and again, had plenty of gluten free options, for which I was grateful.
Exit the back doors to a shopping, grooming, and restaurant mall. Exit the side doors for churches and shortcuts to excellent Italian cafe's, or get picked up at the big circular drive up front. It's nice,
My room, at the end of the top floor, was equally smart. Everything I needed and no elevator noises. The cleaning staff got to it last each day, which was disappointing, and when I arrived, I found raisins (or some dried fruit) on the carpet at the desk area. Like almost every hotel these days, however, they seem to struggle to get sufficient housecleaning staff who can take adequate time in each room.
That said, anything I pointed out was instantly remedied.
I will return.
