I didn’t bring enough shirts for my stay and only needed it for good byes to friends and ride home. Danielle helped me find one in sale(3 actually). I also bought 2 wine glasses with blue anchors inside. One of the anchors had broken loose. I called immediately. Thalia had one shipped out immediately. Very happy and very grateful. Good job girls!
It is a treat for us to be in Newport Beach a couple times a year and we have loved returning to the resort the last five years! The service and attention to detail are top notch. Our favorite is to be in a room on the water watching the boats go by and enjoy watching or not all the action on the water no matter what time of day, dusk, nighttime or early morning! Joey greeted us with a smile and was terrific throughout our stay. Collin had helped us with luggage last year, and this time as well. We had a second floor middle over the restaurant, which we thought might be a bummer, and it wasn’t! We enjoyed the live music from our patio with a glass of wine. The housekeeping staff were all familiar to us, especially Lucia, who we love. We didn’t want service this time around, but needed a few things and everyone was great! Great coffee from Blend each morning, the best brunch ever on Sunday morning, dinner at A & O watching sunset, and late afternoon drinks by the pool a couple times all made for a great stay! We’ll be back soon!…
We booked a anniversary weekend getaway and this hotel did not disappoint! From the moment we checked in Jazmin made sure our check in was flawless and asked us the reason for our stay. She sent a special anniversary token to our room that set a great vibe from the minute we walked in the room. After dinner, we came back to the room and saw we had night service. Our room had been cleaned up and our bed was made simply to just lay down without having to take decor pillows out. They have a beautiful restaurant over looking the bay with sofas & fireplace, beautiful area to people watch and live music Saturday night. Sonya was great server. This hotel blew my mind. A 10/10, we will certainly be back.
Last minute emergency meant we needed nice clothes and fast. We stopped into the boutique and Danielle and Thalia rushed to our rescue. Clothes purchased and all on sale. Our thanks to these incredible women for saving the day!! We are staying at the resort for ten days and it's great knowing they are here for us! Thank you!!
Danielle at the BayFront Boutique was extremely helpful with helping me find the perfect gift for my Daughter's 16th birthday. I couldn't have done it without her help! The hotel itself was fantastic. Very clean rooms.
My room was well maintained and the housekeeping staff paid attention to details. My room was immaculately kept. The grounds were well kept and the staff very helpful and welcoming. The gym was clean and had multiple exercise options (Peloton, Mirror, treadmill, etc).
Staying at Balboa Bay Resort is the worst travel experiences in my life. I stayed Balboa Bay Resort from 12/28 to 12/30 I usually only stay in large hotel chains but I decided to give it a try since Balboa Bay Resort is Amex Hotel collection, which was a huge mistake. The service was so bad, worse than many two star hotels. Balboa Bay Resort is a 4 star and historic hotel, so I can’t help wondering if they are just reluctant to serve colored people We checked in at around 3pm and found the AC at the room was not functioning, there was only heat. My husband called front desk and guest services multiple times (at least 3 times), but no one answered. When the engineer came, the temperature was 84 degree. We had been at a room with such high temperature for more than one hour. The engineer checked and said that it might take a while to fix it and they can do a quick a fix by just cutting off the heat something. We have some appointment at 4:30, so just did the quick fix though I really think they can just let us change a room. When we came back in the evening, it was getting cold, so we wanted the heat. We called front desk, guest service even housekeeping lines for more than 10 times and also texted them, NO one answered. So I went to the front desk, and finally had a chance to talk to them. They finally sent the engineer to our room and tried to fix the AC. It took more than 30 mins for them to fix the AC, but still failed. The staff still didn’t allow us to change the room. We checked at 3pm but were unable to unpack and relax at 7pm because the AC issue. Apparently they don’t care customers’ time and experience. After they sent another engineer to our room, I was too tired to remain calm, I asked the engineers to let their managers know I want to change a room. They finally did that, but the front desk was asking me to drag my luggages to front desks and pick up the keys. I was so shocked. After the mess I experienced, shouldn’t a 4 star hotel send the keys to our room and relocate us to the new room? This is not the end, The next day, I went back to my room around 4pm, the housekeeper was just starting working on my room, so I was unable to get back to my room. The housekeeper said she still needed 20 mins to complete the work. I asked her just finished what she was doing, and she said it will takes 10 mins. After 10 mins, we came back, she said it will takes 5 to 10 mins for someone to takeout the trash. We were very tired and wanted to take a nap so bad, so we told her that it is fine to let the trash be there. So it’s 4pm, but the housekeeper still can’t take out the trash. I didn’t even feel the room has been cleaned. Moreover, I asked for a shower cap around 5pm because the housekeeper didn’t give me any. I texted them twice. They did’t send me any until I called them the second time after 9:30pm. I’ve tried all the channels to contact them, phone call, text, in person, but they would not answer you unless you tried more than three times. When we checked out, the front desk said that they can’t provide the folio at that moment, but they will send the folio via email within an hour. I didn’t receive it after 2 days and my credit card has been charged for unexpected amount. I messaged them and finally received the folio today on 2nd Jan. Since they have been slow and reluctant to answer me, my question about unexpected amount might not be handled forever. The last thing I would like to flag about Balboa Bay Resort is that they are misleading customers on Amex travel website. Based on the website, both Courtyard king room and Newport king room have bathtubs (the third image when you select the rooms) it’s not the generic photos on the top for hotel overview. But there’s no bathtub in the room and if you ask for a room bathtub, they will ask you to pay 1200 per night. I booked the room because of the bathtub, and I really need the bathtub due to my medical issue. I ended up to use the bathtub in my friend’s house, thankfully that we have friends in Irvine. To sum up, this is the worst hotel experience I ever had and I seldom write any review for hotels, but the experience was so bad I hope all the people can avoid the terrible things I’ve been through. …
The worst experience ever. We celebrated the New Year due to fantastic experience of previous Year. For sure smth has changed on the management or even on ownership bcs it was far from one year ago. The menu of ala cart dinner was strange with 3 different red wines and one glass për each!!!! The band was low quality (less paid) compared with the previous one…
Hotels stay is very nice. A+O Restaurant's foods are super delicious, and the waiter is A+++ services . However, we got the terrible experiences with the Balboa Bay Resort A + O Restaurant / Bar's three hostesses on Saturday night, 12/3/2022. Reserved for 3 adults and 2 kids at 7 p.m. around 4 p.m. same day. Arrived to restaurant, one of the three rude hostesses told to wait as table was not ready. After a while, a second very unfriendly one told us we need to seat with others guest!!! She told with an attitude to wait after we refused. Another 3rd one told us to come in with instruction that 3 adults will be sitting on the bar-like table with white tall chair, and 2 kids will be sitting on a different lower table!!! Another waiting game with those 3, we finally got in and had a delicious dinner with an attentive and friendly but professional waiter. If not for the good foods, an excellent waiter, and a nice stay, I would give 1 star for those 3 hostesses.…
Wow! What a beautiful hotel. Don't be fooled by its 4* rating. It is probably the nicest 4* star hotel. With that being said, there is no beach access and there is nothing to explore within walking distance (except Ferrari and Maserati dealerships!). But Fashion Island, Balboa Island are not far. And free Evian and Pinot Noir bottles are a nice touch!
