Convenient location since it’s half a block to John Wayne Airport, Orange County. Conference rooms are fully equipped with all necessities of business meetings and hotel staff was very accommodating. Clean and comfortable.

The Good:
Hotel is as good as other Renaissance hotels. Assures me that my Renaissance choices are always meeting my expectations. Hotel is located far from the LA noise in friendly neighborhood near Orange County John Wayne Airport. Very close to Newport Beach. I really liked the live performance in the lobby at nights. Small fireplace outdoor makes you feel cosy and warm in breezy Christmas nights. Like most Renaissance hotels, the random modern objects in the lobby are wisely selected and arranged which bring an artistic character to the hotel. In close neighborhood, you can go to South Coast Plaza for shopping and there are plenty of good food options nearby.

The Bad:
Parking can be a problem. Hotel has a self parking garage for a fee but not a proper guest parking. All the neighboring parkings are gated. It seems like parking is a problem due to close distance to the airport and ride-share drivers stalling in these parking spots.

The Ugly:
Some of old facilities in this hotel need a refresh and proper maintenance. Windows and elevator are old and need to be replaced. In my room, I noticed that the plug next to my bed had a missing face plate exposing internal wires. It was fatally hazardous. I secured the plug temporarily during my stay and put alert signs so the room service become aware of the hazard. I also spoke about that to the receptionist during check out but I wish I was receiving a follow up call with regards to this. In my opinion, it was an important safety miss that should have been discussed further.

We greatly value your time and appreciate your detailed feedback. Reading that our location suited your travel preferences perfectly is exciting. We also love that our warm atmosphere impressed you along with our beautiful decor and artwork. The live entertainment and outdoor fires are a few of my favorite features too and I am glad you could enjoy them too. However, we regret you endured any oversights while at our property. We take your input seriously and will resolve these matters immediately. We hope you will be back at Renaissance Newport Beach Hotel so that we can win you over completely.

A short-notice one night stay here met the brief well.

Check in was a little slow, but it was a busy day. Once upstairs, the room itself was excellent. Super clean, fresh, comfortable. Faultless. Except for the corridor noise from doors slamming shut with a decent thud.

Why only 3 stars? Location is great if you are at the airport, but a decent haul to Newport and we spent another $100 on Uber getting there and back. It's also very hard to get anyone on the phone if you are calling ahead. Finally, $35 for a self parking spot in a largely deserted part of town is scalping.

How wonderful to learn that you enjoyed our beautiful accommodations, though we regret that your stay wasn't as restful as we would hope. Additionally, you will find our parking rates comparable to similar lots in the Newport Beach area, but we regret if our charge took you by surprise. Thank you for sharing your input, as we are always looking for ways to improve our hospitality. We encourage you to reach out to us directly at Gherning@pyramidhotelgroup.com to share more about your visit, and we hope to have another chance to welcome you back to Renaissance Newport Beach!

My family and I had arranged a nice family trip in Los Angelos to spend a few days in. To our dismay, after booking at Renaissance Newport Beach Hotel and spending the first night here, we discovered that there is absolutely no service from the front desk, concierge, housekeeping etc. whatsoever. There is also a surcharge for parking, wifi, snacks, water, and stuff that should simply be included in the hotel fee.It was on the second day when we came back to our hotel room to have discovered that the housekeeping department had not done their job. There were no fresh towels, beds were unmade, and no refills of shampoo or conditioner/ other daily hygienic necessities. What’s more is that my family and I had called the front desk and housekeeping on the phone several times and there was no one answering our calls on the other line. We had called at least 5 times in a row and heard nothing back. when they had finally picked up, Not only did the staff have a passive aggressive attitude towards us, but they were rude and neglected our requests when we asked them nicely. My family and I were also woken up TWICE in the middle of the night to an alarm blaring over the speakers, saying that there might have been an emergency. they also did not follow up and let us know what happened, so we went about our day. the next day, firemen knocked on our door and said someone in the building called 911. Again, we were not informed as to what took place later on and are unsure whether it was resolved. Completely dissatisfied with the service here, and my family and I felt completely disrespected and neglected by the staff members here. We will definitely never stay here again. For those of you looking to book a hotel, this is not the one. There are plenty of hotels along this street whom I’m sure offer better service.

For the price per night -$190.00 it seemed like a good deal. Then like many other businesses today-they get you with $36.00 a night parking, although the HYATT across the street doesn't charge, and then to pay for internet in 2020 is not acceptable at this rate. The room was ok but overall not worth the price. with so many other options in the area I would not stay here again. I wish these hotels would have one rate that is inclusive of all their charges that a normal guest needs to sleep and function there.

I've stayed at this property a number of times in the last decade thanks to a recurring meeting over in Irvine. The Fairmont version was super comfortable, elegant, and gracious. This, eh, renovated Renaissance version ripped out pretty much everything that was good about the Fairmont and replaced it all with cheap materials and dubious staff. Leaving aside the waste of those decisions, the rooms now echo like barns (carpet out, LVT flooring in with minimal rugs), beds sag, linens scratch, furnishings hold nothing, chairs are incredibly uncomfortable, lighting is terrible, and bathrooms rattle. Whereas before the staff was calmly efficient and competent, the current lot all seem to be chippy and largely clueless. Two stars only because of location (the same, useful) and a respectable restaurant experience. But this is now a Motel 6 at a Four Seasons price. You can do better. BTW the TA web photos look like holdovers from the old version, not the current garish version - check the Marriott web site if you want accurate visuals.

Recently spent three nights at the Renaissance Newport Beach Hotel. This was my second stay at this hotel, and I intend to stay again here on my next trip to the area. Initially, my room was spacious and clean as was the hotel. This hotel is about 5 minutes from John Wayne Airport ( an airport shuttle services is provided at no charge t/from SNA) and about 45 minutes (off peak) to LAX. Although this hotel is not located on or within walking distance to a beach, it is centrally located near Huntington Beach, Newport Beach Pier, and Angel Stadium. Each trip via Uber is a short 15 - 20 minute ride / $15 - 20 Uber/Lyft charge. The hotel pool is relaxing and the fitness center is well equipped for a good workout. The hotel also features a nice bar and convenient restaurant, and is within walking distance of , among other things, a couple of sandwich shops, a 7-11, and a Starbucks. I have no hesitation in recommending this hotel to individuals, couples, families, and business travelers. I look forward to my return.

Marriott Renaissance is one of our top choices to stay whenever we travel because of the friendly staff & great customer service however this was not the case here. My husband is Marriott Lifetime Gold, no matter where we stay with Marriott, we have always get offered an upgrade room and the staff have always been friendly & helpful however it was not the case here. Walking to our room the hallway smells like someone have been smoking pot. There were trash left in the elevator. The AC in our room was so loud & ran all night. It doesn't matter what temp we set the AC would not stop running. The towels are not as soft & thick. In our reservation we asked for extra towels & featherless pillows however we didn't get it. We will not stay here again and will not recommend this place to our friends & family.

Recently spent three nights at the Renaissance Newport Beach. I enjoyed my stay and have no hesitation recommending this hotel to solo travelers, couples, families, and all others. This hotel is about a 5 minute drive from John Wayne airport, and about 15 minutes to Newport Beach via Uber/Lift where the average fee is between $15-20. I found all hotel staff to be professional, courteous, and helpful. The hotel was very clean and my room ( deluxe suite) was very comfortable. The pool area looked inviting and was well kept. The gym wad also well appointed with free weights, upper/lower body machines, treadmills, elipticals, and statiinary bikes. Finally, my experience at the hotel bar was also excellent. Great stay.

The staff were super friendly and helpful. Rooms clean and spacious. The decor is very welcoming and there are heaps of small informal chat areas where you can go and chill out. My only complaint is I wasn't made aware of their shuttle service to local shopping centres and attractions until AFTER my stay when I was checking out and I overheard another guest. There was also no guest information folder in the room so perhaps this should be mentioned at check in. The shuttle service information would have been helpful plus info on local services and popular attractions (such as the closest 711 or chemist). Local restaurant locations and menus are always useful too. Apart from this one small critique, I loved my stay and am staying here again in May.

I believe you have to have a card on file, a larger cash deposit may be required, but most any hotel requires a car these days, hope this helps
