Thank you to Kevin at the front desk for making our stay so great! We needed an extra day and he made it happen for us. Great service! Also, the service at the hotel restaurant was wonderful. This hotel has a nice pool with large hot tube.
The Good: Hotel is as good as other Renaissance hotels. Assures me that my Renaissance choices are always meeting my expectations. Hotel is located far from the LA noise in friendly neighborhood near Orange County John Wayne Airport. Very close to Newport Beach. I really liked the live performance in the lobby at nights. Small fireplace outdoor makes you feel cosy and warm in breezy Christmas nights. Like most Renaissance hotels, the random modern objects in the lobby are wisely selected and arranged which bring an artistic character to the hotel. In close neighborhood, you can go to South Coast Plaza for shopping and there are plenty of good food options nearby. The Bad: Parking can be a problem. Hotel has a self parking garage for a fee but not a proper guest parking. All the neighboring parkings are gated. It seems like parking is a problem due to close distance to the airport and ride-share drivers stalling in these parking spots. The Ugly: Some of old facilities in this hotel need a refresh and proper maintenance. Windows and elevator are old and need to be replaced. In my room, I noticed that the plug next to my bed had a missing face plate exposing internal wires. It was fatally hazardous. I secured the plug temporarily during my stay and put alert signs so the room service become aware of the hazard. I also spoke about that to the receptionist during check out but I wish I was receiving a follow up call with regards to this. In my opinion, it was an important safety miss that should have been discussed further.…
I stayed at the Renaissance Newport Beach Hotel from December 23 to December 26. We reserved this on December 16th and paid it in full. When I arrived on the 23 I was told it was not paid. After stating that it had been and the front desk telling me it wasn't, I decided to just pay for one night and figure it out tomorrow. They charged around $220. The next morning I called the front desk to confirm it had been paid. I spoke with Stacy, who said that it had been paid and they would refund the money immediately, which they never did. The next morning my sister bought something from the hotel store which was $32.33. When I woke up the $32.33 charge was made on MY card. The reasoning for the hotel was that we "had the same last name." So, if someone goes to your hotel and has the same last name as someone else who is staying there, they will charge you for THEIR items? Unacceptable. When we came back that evening our hotel room wasn't cleaned, they are "shortstaffed" so there is no housekeeping. Not sure why if we're paying for all these services. To make this worse, later during the day I get a THIRD charge, this time for $582.19. When we arrived back at the hotel to complain, they couldn't find a reason for what this charge was. They said it was a mistake on their end. For what? At this point, the hotel had charged me OVER $800. They gave a million excuses, that it was a mistake, that they overcharged, that it was this and that. None of which made sense. We asked to speak to the manager on duty, Mark Sugars, which didn't help at all. All he said was he would get back to us. All he did was write a letter stating that these charges would be back on my account by MONDAY DECEMBER 26th. He told me he would give us one night stay free returned to the card, which hasn't happened. When I checked out they gave me a statement with a $126 credit. I asked to speak to the manager on duty, Joseph, who instead took that paper, ripped it, and told me he would "take care of the pending charges", so I guess they won't even give me the credit. Your front desk "manager" told us multiple times that our stay was not paid which was why we had multiple charges. It was only until Mark Sugars came out to tell us that he would look into it that she said "I looked into it and it was fully paid." She wasted our time. I have a letter from Mark Sugars saying our money would be released by the 26th of December. It has now been one week, NONE OF THE CHARGES HAVE BEEN RELEASED. Because they are PENDING charges, I can't get my money back. They REFUSE to release the charges so it can be charged and I can get my money back. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE. I will NEVER be staying at a Marriott again. My sister who stayed at the same hotel the same dates had MANY charges as well, over $300 that have yet to be released. NONE OF WHICH WE AUTHORIZED. Another man who was there while we were complaining was also charged hundreds of dollars. This hotel is committing FRAUD. NO ONE SHOULD STAY HERE. STAY AWAY !!!! I've tried contacting the hotel multiple times only to have them hang up on me or refuse to speak to me. I will make sure no one I know stays here again. This is terrible service. I have received no explanation from Marriott.…
Arturo, Raz, and Reggie were fantastic. The bar was fantastic, particularly the bar staff, and the hotel was great. The remodel looks excellent, this is definitely a five-star experience. All of the guests at the bar seemed very happy with their stay.
Stayed here for one night and wish I'd stayed somewhere else. The car park is not exactly at the hotel's door, especially if you park on the Upper Level. When we checked in, they were one of the only hotels on our honeymoon not to wish us congratulations. The room was on the ground floor, noisy and not particularly special, though it was quite large. In addition, nobody went above and beyond to assist with bags though we had loads, ask us if it was a special occasion or wish us well for our trip. The most friendly and considerate member of staff we came across was the housekeeping lady who was super polite and warm. I would not recommend staying here.
Found myself having to be in the O.C. all weekend so decided to stay the night. The Renaissance Newport Beach fit the bill! From getting out of my car (valet staff) to checking in to hotel staff milling about the property, all have been friendly and helpful. The property is modern and fun, with a restaurant and bar (I really wanted to try a pumpkin martini but didn’t have the time). I have the basic king room which looks exactly as it does on the website. The use of floor with an area rug makes the room feel larger and more open. There is a Keurig in the room with coffee and tea and they have room service as well (waiting for my oatmeal and coffee as I type this) and a smart TV with access to your streaming accounts. Needed a late checkout which was no problem. Frances from room service just dropped by with my order - right on time and with a smile and a sense of humor. A perfect way to start the morning! The stay has been great! I definitely recommend!…
This hotel is very convenient to the airport. They have a free shuttle to and from the airport. The elevators are crazy fast which is so nice! The best thing about this hotel is the breakfast. You have to get it! Everything on the menu is delicious! We would definitely stay here again! Rooms are nice too.
I stayed for a week for business and pleasure at this beautifully renovated hotel. The staff and managers are outstanding. They truly care about their guests and passionate about service. Special mention for excellent service by Mary (Restaurant Manager), Reggie (waiter) and Markus ( GM). The Wednesday reception for BonVoy Elite provided an extra touch and the food were amazing. It is also worth mentioning the cleanliness and convenience to everything. I highly recommend this hotel.
Wow! The RNB has been our family destination for years. We love this hotel with its warm and loving staff and fun Beachy decor. Thank you to Mackenzie and Braydon at the front desk for taking great care of us from check in to check out. Breakfast at Current is always awesome. The food is so delicious and always has a beautiful presentation. While we have our favorites from the menu, they also brought back the awesome buffet. There is a great assortment for all and one item Is better than the next thanks to a great Chef! Luis is unbelievable. He takes such great care of us. He makes the best specialty coffee for us with Vanilla lattes being a family favorite. The breakfast staff works so hard and takes customer service to a whole new level. Carina, Luis and Mary are like family to us. The rooms are perfect and the location awesome. This is a one stop property whether you are with family, a couple or traveling for business. It is all about the service. Under the leadership of Mark Sugars, the staff always exceeds our expectations! Thank you Mark and Team, you are awesome and we cannot wait to see you again!…
Such an amazing stay at Renaissance Newport Beach. This hotel has such an amazing vibe. The entire place is so nice and clean, the decor was very hip and modern. Every single person who works here was so friendly and eager to help. We stayed in a 2 Queen room that had a Mountain View. The room was spacious, clean and very well kept. I would definitely stay here again and recommend to anyone visiting.
