This hotel looks upscale online but it's more along the lines of the Super 8/roadside motels right next door. Not a good setting for Monterey. Overpriced for what it is. Lacks luxury linens. A short drive to attractions, and rooms were fairly quiet.

My daughter had made reservations well ahead of time at this hotel specifically because it included a breakfast so we could get out and around early. They didn't bother to notify her they weren't serving it so on arrival there was a sign on the door "No breakfast" and they did not even offer a sack meal as most other motels were doing in place of it. That was just the beginning. When we realized there were no blankets for the beds I called the office asking for 3 and was told someone would have to go down and get them because the desk clerk couldn't leave the desk and there was no one else available. The woman working the desk was very abrupt and offended to even be asked for such a thing. We had a 2-level room and the fan in the lower bathroom was extremely loud,noisy and rattling that it was heard on the upper level whenever it was turned on.! The neon lights around the mirror also flickered off and on. But the real killer was the murphy bed in the lower area. It was so loud when lowered or raised that it could be heard out in the hall. It sounded like we were killing cats in the room and it went on for about 20 sec. when putting it up or down. The lift mechanism was clearly marked where to lubricate but it was obvious it had NEVER been done! We took a video and everyone who sees it cracks up over the awful noise. Unfortunately, I can't attach the video!

This hotel is cute and quaint but it is much less luxurious than it tries to pass itself off as. We stayed in the townhouse suite, with the two stories. Couch on first floor isn't very comfy, a bit stained, and quite small for 2 people. Fireplace was cool, bed is also quite squeaky due to the springs and not super comfy. Upstairs AC didn't work but luckily the ceiling fan was enough circulation. Staff is courteous. Grab n go breakfast is yogurt, fruit, and a muffin. Would be nice to have a hot bfast option considering the prices the rooms are. Would probably choose another hotel next time we are in Monterey.

Staff was rude. I have stayed at hundreds of hotels over the years and have never felt the need to write a review. We had an unfortunate water leak from the room above. Very disgusting and unpleasant but things happen. What turned the experience into a disaster was how the staff handled it. Almost indignant and blaming the family from above she had to be prodded to move us to another room, tried to charge us for the stay that evening, and never offered to help us move to the other room she finally provided. This all happened at 10p.m. Office staff was rude when we checked in, almost like we were interrupting there evening, are friends experience also. I will never stay there again!

Despite having signs posted on the elevator and in the lobby about a $100 for not wearing a protective mask due to COVID-19, housekeeping staff were not consistently wearing protective masks! Employees need to be more mindful of how they present themselves in front of guests of the Inn. I believe a standard room comes with a fireplace so that's a plus. But the wireless is unreliable and sometimes unable to access. Front lobby staff were neither friendly or unfriendly.
