2.5 out of 5 really. This is an independent hotel, but the chain equivalent would be Econo Lodge or Super 8. If you do not enjoy staying in those types of places then you will not enjoy staying here. Furniture is all well-worn, beds are stiff, and there are no amenities. On the positive side, the room was clean enough, and this is pretty much the only hotel choice within walking distance to Union Station if that's important to you. It was to me as I had an early train to catch, so that's why I stayed here. This might also be a good hotel choice for budget travelers getting around Los Angeles without a car, as a lot of bus and subway routes converge on this area.

If train travel does not factor into your Los Angeles travel plans, then I definitely do not recommend staying here as there are other much better options. Aside from the hotel itself, the immediate area is not all that great. Lots of homeless people all over the place, who are mostly harmless, but it still always puts me on edge a little, especially at night. Also, there's an empty and rather depressing Chinatown area nearby. My choice for food and drink would be the Mexican themed Olvera Street, which is also nearby.

I stayed here for 1 night because it's 5mins walk away from Union Station. Rooms are OK, but it smells like weed. I am hesitant to touch surfaces as it could contains drug residue which could contaminate my bags and it could cause me delays at TSA. It was raining all day when i stayed here and had no choice but to run under the rain to the nearest Chinese resto for dinner. A bit noisy even my room is on the higher floor due to traffic at the corner and some homeless on the street are talking loud. Staff are friendly.

This is a good hotel for the price, at A$214 or US$145 per night for a twin room. The hotel is a little "tired' and the carpets are overdue for replacement but its clean the staff are friendly and helpful. We stayed here for 2 nights. It was within 10 minutes walk to the LA Union Station (a tourist attraction in it's self). It is convenient for catching the metro (to other parts of the city) and airport bus. Also the buses to San Diego and Las Vegas depart from here. The room was quite large with table and chairs and a refrigerator. There is a small café, which serves good food, and supermarket under the hotel. It is also a close to the Olvera Street Mexican Markets; wonderful shopping.

My husband and I stayed here after arriving to the Amtrak station nearby late at night. I was a little apprehensive due to the so-so reviews but decided that for one night how bad could it be? Absolutely horrible! Where do I begin? We checked in at 10 pm and were given the key to our room. Upon arriving to our room, we discovered that the room had not been cleaned - not even touched! The beds were unmade. Dirty towels were thrown on the floor. Pizza boxes were on the dresser. We immediately went downstairs and asked for another room. The second room was at least cleaned but the carpets were filthy with stains all over them. I didn't take my shoes off until I was ready to climb into bed. So at 2 am we were awakened to our smoke alarm going off (probably due to a low battery). We climbed up on our beds and disconnected the smoke alarm and it continued to beep. We called the front desk. They sent a maintenance man up to our room. He did the same thing and it continued to beep. Finally, he pulled it loose from the ceiling and left it dangling above our beds. It took me until 3:30 to fall back to sleep. We complained the next morning and asked for at least a partial refund but the man at the front desk said because we booked through a third party site there wasn't anything that he could do. And of course no breakfast was offered even though their website said they had one. It has been almost two years since covid has been around and I feel that is plenty of time to update your website if you are no longer serving breakfast. Take my advise and do not stay here!

HOTEL HELL. Hotel is undergoing renovations (long overdue as looks shabby). Construction noises. Dust. Fumes. Creaky floorboards. Tremors. Hotel security is non-existent. At check-in, homeless guy asked me to buy him dinner + creepy old male hotel guest told me his room number so I could visit his hotel room. Ignored both requests. Ended up at another (nice) hotel (Best Western Dragon Gate on Hill St).

We stayed in hotel for 3 nights as 4 people. Room was clean and housekeeping team provide cleaning service everyday. Reception was helpful, we came earlier than 3pm, room wasn’t ready yet they kept our luggage safely. Only negative comment for location.

Pros: the staff were nice, and it was good to always have a guard in the lobby. Nice taco spot next door. Affordable and close to Union Station. Public park a few blocks north. Cons: Loud! The doors didn't stop any sound. The partition door to the neighbor's room might as well have been wide open. Smelly old carpets. Complicated neighborhood - homeless folks sleeping a half block away in any direction. Overall it's a good place to save money, but I'm not sure I'd return.

Location suited us, clean pleasant hotel. Decided to eat in the restaurant/ bar area…unfortunately our order was forgotten so that was a bit disappointing. Staff friendly enough but we seemed invisible ! Bed comfortable and quiet, would recommend this hotel

Lovely kind chinese lady boss lent us subway cards to use in LA :) Dated-looking hotel and water pressure of shower was disappointing, but room was surprisingly clean and spacious. Nearest good supermart and Starbucks would be at Union Station. There's also a pleasant Spanish food street near to hotel that is bustling with activity.

I booked it because it is close to Union station. It is run down . No coffee maker in room which is something I like to have. It was ok clean but noisy at night - people noises, train which I expected but not people talking in middle of the night. Walls are very very thin I think. For money spent would prefer to stay somewhere nicer even if further from station.
