Stayed here for one night when attending the Primavera Festival at nearby LA State Historic Park, and it was really a pleasant surprise. The building itself is kind of non-descript with exterior facing doors and kind of a hokey Chinatown theme, but the rooms themselves are really nice! Seems they've done a recent remodel and the rooms are modern, clean, and with fantastic amenities, such as large mini-fridge, workdesk, chaise lounge, free Wi-Fi, and great beside lighting. I personally appreciated that there is no carpet in the rooms, as I am not a big fan of carpet at all. The custodial staff made the room immaculate when we arrived. Parking is underground, secured, and $18 a night, which for LA these days, is a downright bargain. Staff is polite, although at times they seem a little TOO casual (mostly younger folks), which I actually enjoyed, it made the vibe more chill. The neighborhood itself is not much to write home about as there's not a ton to do nearby, its kind of ugly, and it gets a tiny bit questionable at night (and I was walking around at 2 am). Small complaints are they are a little stingy with full-size bath towels (only two) and the image quality on the TVs isn't the greatest (mostly due to the feed, not the TVs themselves). I vastly overpaid for my room due to the festival, but maybe would suggest booking this hotel last minute for better rates.

Location was excellent, and room was very well appointed, very clean. A big plus was that they allowed our pet dog to stay for a nominal fee. Valet parking was convenient, with in and out privilege. We only wish the internet connection was more stable.

Great location, ideally located in Chinatown, You are within walking distance of all kinds of cool sights, shops, restaurants, and historical markers. It is only a 15 minute walk to the LA Metro Union Station as well. from Metro you can be anywhere in the region within minutes, even Hollywood BLVD.

Stayed here for 7 nights while visiting Los Angeles. Booked the location mainly for proximity to Dodger Stadium (walking distance) but found it very handy for our other sightseeing excursions, and very reasonably priced given that it's basically in downtown LA. Hotel was quiet, clean and well-maintained. No problem parking underground every night ($18/day, which is not unexpected and seems quite reasonable for any big city, not just LA). Breakfast was well done - lots of options (waffles, pancakes, scrambled eggs, sausages, baked goods, cereal, etc.). Staff was all very friendly and helpful. We did need to ask for an additional pillow (there were only 3 on the king bed) but the person at the front desk was very accommodating. Overall, this was a great, affordable, and convenient option and would definitely stay here again.

This hotel is located in a shady area, very quiet, not easy to find transportation. Hotel package says with breakfast, but they give you a takeaway pack consisting of a small burger(whether you are a veg or non veg, you are forced to eat a meat burger they provide), supermarket low quality muffin, a fruit and a drink. They give you a coupon for a coffee which you have to take it from outside restaurant. So don't come to this hotel expecting a buffet breakfast served hot in their restaurant. They do not have any restaurant. People are not helpful at the reception. Rooms are just ok. No room service or housekeeping facility. Room will not be cleaned until you checkout.

Stayed overnight after a basketball game at the Staples Center. This hotel is a good distance from most L.A. attraction. Also very conveniently located in Chinatown if you want to walk around. However, they do charge a daily parking rate of $15 a day.

I wasn't impressed with the front desk. Not very helpful. I'm a gold member, but I noticed that the gold member "treat" was not in the room also. When I asked the front desk, they just blew it off even thought the display for the reward basket was sitting up front.
I do have to say that they did a nice job with the breakfast. The servers there were attentive and helpful. Also, the person in the front desk when I left seemed to be more on top of it.
Rooms were kind of smaller for a best western plus in comparison to the other BW Plus that I have stayed at, but maybe it's the location.
I like the location so I may give it a try a second time.

Good location as it is close to the highway and Dodger Stadium. We were greeted warmly. Our room was very comfortable and quite spacious. Vanity area was small and the bathroom was small but it is an older hotel. Parking is valet only but was not a problem although space is limited. Breakfast was adequate. Good variety of restaurants in the area. Decent experience.

I get there tired from a long cross country flight for a conference the next day in Downtown Los Angeles and when I get there the person checking in, tells me that parking is $18. I told her I was a guest, she said yes that's the charge for guest. This is the first time I have heard of a BW charging for parking and granted I have stayed at different BW's across the country in different states and none of them have ever charged for parking, I asked how street parking worked and she said "read the signs" ok that was rude, so she said do you want to pay the parking fee of $18 or not, I said I'm not, just check me in, I will figure out the parking myself. Which I did, free parking if you read the signs and you check out by a certain time. I go to my room to wind down and get the bucket to get ice and some drinks at the vending machine. To my surprise there is no ice machine and the vending machine is completely out of drinks. I was too tired to get in my car and drive so I just went back to my room. Next day I go get breakfast which get this (you need to show a voucher) first time this happens at a BW, a single piece of paper that looked like a coupon and said it was available from 6am to 10 am (not true 7am onwards). The croissants were stale and hard, coffee didn't taste fresh, the eggs tasted weirdly like card board, only good thing was the orange juice and potatoes and sausage. I would not stay here if I had to come to another work function to downtown Los Angeles and I recommend you look somewhere else.

I'm sorry you didn't know about the parking fee. All hotels in the major cities all charge for parking. Ever place in Downtown Los Angeles charges for parking. Land is a premium here. We have the team already checking on the soda machine so thank you for advising us. All properties in a densely populated place where there are plenty of people out and about will have a security system in place to only allow hotel customers into the breakfast room. Without it, staff won't be able to tell if the person is a hotel guest or just someone from the public. Breakfast never stated 6 am.. It's always been 7 am o the ticket. The wifi passcode is on your key sleeve and would have been told to you at check in. Regards, Best Western Plus Dragon Gate Inn

Everything was great! From location to room and everything in between was better than expected.

We arrived at Union Station and it was only a 10-15 min walk to the hotel which was a big plus for booking this hotel. We were able to get checked into a room right away even though we arrived around 10am! Rooms are currently being renovated and ours was very nice and roomy. Beds were comfortable but as standard with a lot of BW these are double beds and not queens (as expected when booked).

Breakfast is a plus, including a breakfast sandwich (Jimmy Dean or similar sausage/egg/cheese croissant. Also fruit, juice, yogurt and pastry.

This hotel is approx a 10-15 min walk to Dodger Stadium. Easy walk to and from for games. I’d highly recommend his hotel for anyone traveling for a series from out of town.

Lots of restaurants in the area with good quality food.

Overall would recommend this hotel to anyone traveling for a game or coming in from Union Station. Easy pick up for ride shares and they did have onsite parking for anyone that drove.

the experience was great. Reception employees were welcoming. Though there was a less space for car parking; I guess they arranged for valet parking, 24 hours. Breakfast variety was good. Chef himself/herself used to wait outside to get feedback from the customers.
