The Cara was a great place to stay at the end of our week long trip to LA, so we booked two weeknights here after a friend tipped us off, mentioning that there was a new boutique hotel nearby where she lives.

It's a great take on a classic LA motel turned upscale. They hit the nail on the head with concept and design. The restaurant is also great for dinner and breakfast, which is important, because there isn't much directly around the hotel.

The price was actually very fair for the quality of the rooms and finishes, the personal service, and access to a great courtyard restaurant. The rooms had great linens, good storage for a short stay, and spacious windowed bathrooms (although there could be some more hanging space for towels). Having the RoomNet AppleTV is also a nice touch. The rooms are small, but furnished nicely and very workable. There is no desk, so not ideal for business travel. The pool is not a pool that you can swim in (at least, not since its transformation from the Coral Sands Motel).

The downside is definitely the noise. Having your balcony door or window open during restaurant hours is like...well...having your hotel room be in the middle of a bustling restaurant. All balconies face the courtyard and so the din of the diners might bother some, but we were prepared and fine with it.

Worse than that, we had some very noisy guests in the room next to us, which translates to drinking and loud conversations that carried on during the entire 1 AM hour. We called the front desk, but there wasn't much they could do. The lack of sound insulation between rooms is something that could have been addressed in renovations, but we could hear their conversation so that was disappointing. The hotel ended up comping us for one night of valet parking (valued at around $38) which we felt was not commensurate with our hour+ of tossing and turning.

Otherwise, I'd probably be back to the Cara next time I'm in the area!

The Cara Hotel is a wonderful place to stay!! While visiting our child in Los Feliz this will be our only choice! The staff are kind, considerate and helpful. Serena, Saleh, Jerry-thank you so much for making our stay so enjoyable. Our child called to have flowers delivered to our room via the hotel and they were absolutely gorgeous! The valet parking in this area is a dream. From the moment one enters, this hotel feels like a spa: beautifully well appointed rooms, soft whites and off white linens and drapery,, lush, crisp, pillowy bedding. We only wish we would have taken advantage of their delicious restaurant menu. We were in a rush this visit, but will take time to enjoy their famous olive oil cake and delectable entrees next time we visit. Cara Hotel is top notch- if you want to be pampered and feel welcomed like family, this is your place! Five plus stars.

I'm so glad an article about Cara appeared on my instagram this week. My boyfriend and I were in much need of a staycation and this was the perfect place. When we stepped in we felt like we left all of the noise and chaos of LA and entered Morocco or Greece! It's surprisingly quiet for being right in the city and is so beautiful from them moment you step inside. The lobby is gorgeous, as are all of the dining and lounging areas. The room was perfect and luckily soundproof so you can shut out any noise from the restaurant or leave your balcony door open and enjoy the ambience. The restaurant is GORGEOUS and the menu didn't have a bad looking item on it. We tried several things and they were all delicious. We have tried a few places in LA for staycations but never have we experienced such kindness from a hotel staff. They went so above and beyond to make us feel welcome that at one point we joked that they all have "Be Our Guest" energy. The only negative we experienced was the A/C giving us a hard time and not having cool air did disturb our sleep. That said, when we told the staff they were so quick to apologize, have us a discount on our breakfast bill and even gave us a much later check out. They assured us they would look into that rooms unit once we left and would check the room before our next stay as well. We can't say enough good things. We will definitely be back to eat at the restaurant frequently and will make this our go to hotel for our staycations. Can't wait to be back!

This is really a charming place, however, the restaurant seating and entertainment is within touch of the doors to the rooms on each side. Does that bode to good quiet atmosphere at night? Absolutely not! There are also no plugs in the bathrooms to use hair dryers etc. No two bed choices. I don't believe for the price I would stay there again. I shouldn't have to put on white sound on the phone to block out the evening noise until after midnight because the restaurant and other entertainment is right outside my room. No thank you.

I came to town for a photo shoot and decided to try a new hotel this time. As it was receiving some buzz, I booked myself 5 nights in the Cara. After I checked in, I was shown to my room, which turned out to be on the 2nd floor in the back of the hotel. I was under the impression from the room type I booked that I would have some sort of balcony or area open to the courtyard. Instead, I was given a room that is not listed on their website. It was a tiny room with no desk, only one lounge chair, and one window that faces the balcony hallway. This was a bit of disappointment after spending over $300 per night. I voiced my displeasure to the front desk and was promptly told that any room change would be a $40 increase per night. I decided against as I thought I would be able to sit and work at a table around the pool or the outside areas in the front of the hotel. I quickly discovered that all three of those areas are solely dedicated to the (very busy and loud) restaurant at a certain point in the afternoon, thus leaving me with no other area of the hotel to sit if I was not eating or drinking.

While it is a nice looking hotel once you are inside, the noise of the restaurant activity is right outside of your door/window/balcony and this goes on to late into the evening. This was extremely bothersome as I needed to get some rest for the following days of work. So, I found myself sitting/lying awake in a tiny room, unable to open my window or door, feeling a bit trapped. This is not a feeling I look for when staying at any level of hotel, regardless of cost. I tried asking, but the hotel front desk informed me that any early check out will incur the full booking fee. The only respite I found is the very quiet, early breakfast hours outside, when you actually can sit, work, eat, and think.

Overall, I found this hotel has many pluses and minuses. Good looking interior/not so nice of an area outside the front doors. Nice tasting food from the kitchen/very busy, bustling restaurant scene all of the time. Comfortable bed linens/way too soft of a mattress. Effective marketing/high price and low comfort. If you are looking for a 1 night getaway with your significant other with meals at the restaurant to get some Instagram shots, this is your place. If you are coming for business or for a longer LA stay where you do need some peace and quiet, look elsewhere, as this place is not worth a return visit.

I'm very disappointed as I have recommended this place via instagram & had a lot of people go (before ever going myself). My husband and I treated ourselves to a staycation at the Cara Hotel. Check in was very fast and easy, front desk lady was super sweet. Our room did not have a nice view of the patio as described while booking the room so that was disappointing and not worth $480 per night. Also our room was next to a kitchen I believe? so it was noisy really early in the morning. But what really made our stay extremely unpleasant was a young man who was in the front desk. We were taking pictures and he walked by us and shouted "you can't take pictures here! I mean it!"... kind of thought he was joking since I've seen many pictures taken here. We then moved towards the front of the hotel because I loved how the front looked and wanted a pic there, he went out of his way to come outside and once again told us we cant take pictures and said we were "blocking traffic", there was 1 person walking out and she didn't mind waiting a second to let me take a quick pic. At this point I'm feeling uncomfortable even being around this man. So we decide to head back to our room. We get ready as we have dinner reservations, we decide to have a drink on the hallway in the 2nd floor (since it's really pretty). Once again, this guy is back!!! He asks me "are you hotel guests?"... in my mind im like what are we doing that's so wrong?! I just responded with yes, we are. He made us feel like we were doing something wrong and I felt harassed, to the point we decided not to go down to dinner and ordered uber eats instead. Next morning we left bright and early as I had enough of his attitude. His demeanor was nasty. I'm never going back and not recommending to anyone. Seriously, it's so crazy how 1 person can really make a difference in your stay. Everyone else was nice to us.

This place was dreamy! Serene and fresh decor, luxurious bedding, sundries that smelled incredible and they made great use of the space. I'm glad I read the previous reviews about the courtyard being a restaurant so we stayed on the 2nd floor in a balcony room (room 28 to be exact). The hotel is in a great location when seeing a show at The Greek Theatre (rideshared there and walked back). We made reservations to eat at the restaurant as recommended; it was lovely, service was great and the olive oil cake did not disappoint. The huevos rancheros and salmon benedict we ordered for room service was my favorite meal. When we come back we're planning on stepping up our wardrobe as it's easy to feel underdressed here.

I stayed at Cara Hotel for one night, I was in town for a few days and prior to Cara I had stayed at Petit Ermitage, after staying at Cara I wish I would have stayed a few more nights. Although Petit Ermitage was very nice the only thing I really loved about it was the roof top pool. So I decided to try a much newer & different Hotel.

Although when I arrived I was informed that the pool was just for looks I was a bit disappointed but did not at all regretting my decision of staying at Cara as this place is a hidden Gem. Marlon the GM not only was extremely nice and accommodating but so was the rest of the staff. The ambience of this Hotel was just what I love sophisticated, elegant and peaceful, this Hotel was much much nicer than what the pictures described, the décor transports you to the French Riviera as you sit back in your balcony sipping one of their delicious cocktails admiring the beautiful outdoor patio.

The property is so enchanting & beautiful, although I was traveling alone I felt extremely safe at this brand new boutique Hotel and Marlon made me feel at ease by being as welcoming as he was. When it comes to the food, wow I can't begin to tell you how I wish I could have been here longer to try more of their food, everything that I ordered was delightful. David was one of the staff who brought room service to me and was also one of my servers, his customer service virtues were equally exceptional as Marlon's. Needless to say I will certainly make this my new Hotel when visiting LA. I give this place a 5 star rating…

Stunning on every level! The first time we have ventured out since Covid and the management here has thought of everything to keep each table distanced in the most beautiful outdoor and safe settings in LA. We started with the cerviche with Santa Barbara prawns which were incredibly fresh and crisp. We moved on to the avocado beet salad with a hint of citrus and incredible beets. The pastas were so fresh and reminded us of Italy. We loved the smoked spaghetti with heirloom tomatoes which was an incredibly unique dish for us and the pappardelle equally unique and delicious. These were quickly topped by the entrees. The chicken was injected with smoke and brined and so flavorful and juicy. The pork was tender and moist and then the rib eye had a rub on it that was just incredible. The four of us shared each item which made the meal even more fun and allowed us to taste so many great dishes. And don't leave without trying the olive oil cake which is a great way to end a superb meal. The staff was attentive and helpful throughout and we can't wait to return. This has to be one of the best additions to the LA dining seen in 2020!

Amazing hotel, with all the right looks, and service.
Its sophisticated ambiance and white and beige decore transports you to the french Riviera and its superb service makes you want to stay longer than what you should!!! Their outdoor patio is an unexpected wonderful hideaway from the near by urban area. Perfect for a relaxing break and really good cocktails.
Their kitchen is the perfect combination of heathy, california fresh and worldly cuisines .
But the best is its warm and always helpful staff.
Rooms are small but nicely done all in white. Maybe a couple of suites would be a great addition for longer stays.

Gracias....will see you soon
