Hotel Bel-Air is removed from the hubbub of Beverly Hills and Los Angeles (a benefit or drawback depending on what you're looking for) in a beautiful and secluded canyon set among lush, mature gardens. Some older hotels slowly fall into ruins and get that old, musty feeling. But the rooms here have been immaculately updated to include warm, wooden ceilings and tasteful, marble floors. I don't think any rooms have a great view but they probably all look at some aspect of the gorgeous gardens. The rooms are also quiet which is important to me. If mobility is difficult for you, make sure you request a room close to the lobby since the hotel is spread out a bit.

The restaurant leaves a lot to be desired IMO in terms of value for what the food tastes like. Even though its evidently run by Wolfgang Puck, you'd be in much better hands heading over to Beverly Hills for dinner or lunch.

Other than that, this is by far my favorite upscale hotel in the LA area I've stayed at and will definitely stay here again when I come back!

Myself and my husband came for four nights over Christmas.

The pros; The staff that greeted us were pleasant and professional. We were also upgraded upon arrival which was appreciated. Our spa treatments were excellent. The spa itself could’ve had more amenities such as couples hot tub, couples steam room etc but overall the services and team were excellent.

Pool side service was also great and the food menu was nice. Drinks in the piano bar were fantastic and the grounds throughout are beautiful and extremely well kept.

The cons; for the nightly rate one would expect parking to be complimentary. Housekeeping was subpar at best. Breakfast was hit and miss and expensive for what was provided. Room service food was way below average and Christmas Day dinner was close to inedible.

That said the hotels response to our concerns, especially around housekeeping which we provided pictures of, was swift and professionally handled and their gesture was greatly appreciated. It gave me confidence to rebook and revisit and hopefully after that we can chalk our dec trip down to the holidays and all that goes with that and see the hotel for all its glory.

Dear @Cassidyjem, Thank you very much for taking the time to share your feedback from your stay in December. I was truly delighted to read your thoughtful comments about the hotel and our staff and will certainly be sure to share your comments with the rest of the staff. Additionally, I am sorry to hear that your dining experience was not consistent nor was it the luxury service level you deserve. We greatly appreciate you bringing these concerns to our attention and please know that I will follow up with our Director of Food & Beverage to ensure this does not continue to happen. Again, thank you for your honest feedback @Cassidyjem. It was a pleasure to have you with us over the holidays, and we hope to welcome you back to our estate soon. Warm Regards, Denise Flanders

Emma at reception was totally awesome, helpful and kind. She made our experience a memorable one. We visited twice and each time we had lovely accommodations. The wood fireplace was amazing. The patio was perfect. The food was great. Emma had asked after our preferences on everything from how we liked the room set up, the housekeeping hours, to how many bottles of water we needed. On our second visit, Emma had remembered our preferences and had an Apple TV and the bottles of water ready in our room. The grounds were lovely. We spent hours sitting by swan lake watching the swans. The oval pool is wonderful. We love the gardens and landscaping. The staff were all friendly and would greet us every time we passed them. We felt very comfortable there in the casual relaxed discrete ambience. We went there to celebrate a special occasion and came away with a lifetime of memories. We look forward to many more returns.

My husband and I decided to spend the Fourth of July at the Bel Air Hotel. We were anxious because of COVID but needed a getaway. Our fears were put to rest the moment we pulled in to this stunning resort. We've traveled all over the world, and this has got to be one of the best hotels we've ever been in. We opted for a Junior Pool Suite which was heavenly. It had its own private patio where we had most of our meals. The room service food was incredible. Every detail was just perfect. All the COVID security measures they have taken are above and beyond. Also is the type of place you don't want to leave. We stayed at the pool (which is gorgeous) one entire day just lounging. But worth the most impressive aspect was the staff - from valet to housekeeping - everyone in between are an incredible team. I don't recall being in a hotel where the cohesiveness of the service stands out so much. They go out of their way to remember you and their warmth and pride is genuine. Special shoutout to Raquel at the restaurant who made sure we were well taken care of. I called the front desk to request for a DVD player and within minutes it was delivered and plugged in. I could go on and on. Thank you for making our stay so memorable! We will definitely come back.

In an era where a lot of hotels have lost their personal touch and excellent service post-pandemic, hotel Bel Air has bucked that trend and upped the ante. We were upgraded upon arrival for our Christmas stay to the Grand Suite which was spacious and perfect for our two dogs with a private and enclosed patio and garden space. There were special Christmas treats both for us and our two year old son. Unlike some many other luxury hotels that have weirdly and inexplicably raised pet fees to hundreds of dollars, bel air hotel has kept their rates a very reasonable $ 35 per night.

The grounds are gorgeous and immaculate. The hotel is quiet yet very close to most of what one would want to see on the west side and Beverly Hills.

My only two gripes are the room service which is consistently awful and the fact there is no hot tub on the grounds. But given the amazing service and treatment, this will be our default hotel in the area moving forward.

We are delighted to learn that your family had a wonderful time during the holiday in our Grand Suite! I hope you had a pleasant time exploring our gardens and beautiful Swan Lake. We stopped by for a drink during the holidays and Chloe was the best service - even making sure the lamb wasn’t “gamey” enough for me and making sure all of my food allergies wouldn’t be a worry to me. She was so attentive despite a busy room, and she made sure everything was perfect for us. I will always return some place if they have the best service. We recommend getting the penicillin and egg nog cocktail!

I could write a novel about how good the Hotel Bel Air is, the essence of which would be - there is no greater hotel in California than the Hotel Bel Air.

Forgetting the stunning property, the charming gardens, the beautiful rooms, the relaxing atmosphere - what really makes the hotel stand out is the service. Every member of staff really is there to make the guests stay the best it can be and they truly seem to enjoy their jobs (is is a beautiful place to work).

Compliments to the full team for their hard work and commitment even during this difficult pandemic, the Hotel Bel Air team has managed to keep their sparkle and magic alive. A personal thanks to Jonathan who served us at The Wolfgang Puck restaurant for breakfast and lunch. He’s a star the hotel should invest in!!!

Our English Bulldog Coco is also leaving one happy puppy after being looked after like a princess!!

We were so sad to leave we had to book another stay in September - see you soon!!

We typically stay in a house when we travel to Los Angeles but decided to try the Hotel Bel Air. We were not disappointed. The service is impeccable. Landon at the valet is especially attentive. The in-house breakfast and lunch at Wolfgang Puck's is fantastic.

We stayed in a two-bedroom suite and aside from some glitches that were immediately resolved, we were very happy. There was a good deal of space and everything was very clean.

The services I received at the spa were wonderful as well. The pool, while crowded by the afternoon, is delightful. And you can order Wolfgang Puck's while you relax.

We requested a personal trainer from the concierge. I would suggest you do not do this. He arrived disheveled, late, and smelling of tequila. However, the concierge did arrange our dinners and cars with no issues.

I would highly recommend this hotel if you want to feel like you are at a resort in the middle of a city. I far prefer this idyll to the hotels that are right in the thick of things in Beverly Hills.

As a frequent visitor to LA, I've long heard of the hotel's reputation and storied past. As a treat to celebrate our first vacation in three years and missed twentieth anniversary trip due to the pandemic, we decided to upgrade our typical hotel stay by booking at the Bel-Air.

In was unlike any previous hotel stay I've experienced. The highlight was that the service was top notch at every level. Everything from the personalized check-in, the valet service, restaurant staff, and housekeeping were incredible. The grounds of the hotel were superb, retaining the historical nature of the hotel. Our room were beautiful, modern, and quiet. Many times during the walk to and from our room, we didn't see any other guests. During our stay, there were always plenty of lounges by the pool and never a crowd.

The hotel bar at night, especially on the weekend, was hip and featured a pianist or combo.

Downsides? Not many. The fitness area was small, but during our three-day stay, I never saw anyone in there other than myself. And the Uber rides to West Hollywood or Beverly Hills were a little pricy at times, but hey, that's LA and nothing to do with the hotel.

Would I stay there again? You bet. Hopefully, that will happen sometime soon.

This was my first time staying at the Bel Air (I usually stay at a different LA hotel which I no longer like) and Im so disappointed I did not start staying here sooner. The layout of the hotel lends itself to privacy and serenity, and it is far less "sceney" than some of the other LA hotels, ie you wont find yourself constantly in the middle of an Instagram "photo shoot" and you can just relax. Every single person I encountered who worked here was beyond lovely- especially at the pool! And btw had the best pool food of my life here!
My stay encountered a bit of a dramatic hiccup (no fault of the hotel) and it was handled with the utmost care. Was very disappointing to leave!

Are there private plunge pools available off your suites?
Answer from GGTGSP

Yes we had a private plunge in the Canyon Studio. The Canyon suite and premier canyon also has had them. At the higher end of the price scale most of the signature suites have them too. They were out of our price range but the Patio Suite, swan lake suite and Grace Kelly’s suite have them for sure.

My apologies for my late reply. Yes, some rooms have been renovated, some not. Of course, there is the new section, located up the side of the slope bordering the front of the property. Those rooms are terrific.

Babies and children are welcome in all of our dining outlets and high chairs are available as needed. Children's menus are also offered.
