Detailed Reviews
We live in the area but a good friend was having a 60th birthday party which was scheduled to end at midnight so we elected to use points to book a room for the night. I could not have been more pleased with the experience.
This is, I believe, largely a business hotel. Understandable that Saturday might not be a busy day. I confirmed on-line, agreed to be notified when my room was ready and was shocked when I was alerted at 11:30 am that I could get into my room.
That was nice to know. Had I been from out of the area that would have been a great advantage but as it was, our event didn't start until 6:00 pm so we didn't check in until a more normal 3:30 pm. Reception was flawless. Our room key was ready. We had overnight bags so no need for a valet (although I am not sure there was one). There was a lot of open parking and, no extra fee for parking or for the hated, "resort fee."
The hotel has a large, open-air lobby fronting a sophisticated pool area. To one side of the bar was a full service Starbucks (which I took advantage of in the morning). Elevators require the room key for added security. Common space and hallways were clean.
Our corner room on the 8th floor (of this 8th floor hotel) seemed like an upgrade given its location overlooking the runways of Long Beach Airport. Because this is a noise restricted airport any noise you hear, as muted as it was, ceases to exist after 10 pm and before 7 am.
The only downside, if there was one, was the absence of access to the M Club on weekends. Since we didn't know this property had one, it wasn't something we missed. They gave us extra points in lieu of the club. But if you are here on business, that might be something you would like to have since places to eat nearby are in short supply.
All in all, one of our nicer hotel stays in recent years. Beautiful property, professional service without the parking fees or resort fees made it wonderful experience.

We go to Long Beach often, at least once a month for family visits or work trips. We stayed one night in March, and 2 nights in February of 2021.
The lobby is great. It has a good flow as you enter the lobby, the pool is right in front of you. Then you look to the right to a dining area overlooking the pool, you look to the left for a small coffee shop also overlooking the pool, and there is a Mexican restaurant just further to the right. The common area bathroom is nice. The breakfast place is huge, and the dining staff is good. There's a tiny convenience store next to the front desk for miscellaneous items like drinks, snacks, toiletries, etc. The lobby area is huge, and you don't feel too crowded or cramped. We hung out there during the day to work on our laptops on any of the available dining and common area desks.
The room itself is nice, both times we had great views of the runway. We sit in the couch at night, drink wine and watch the Southwest and Hawaiian Airlines planes fly in and out. The bed is super comfy, and there's ample space to do work either on the couch with a small table, or in front of the TV.
The location is good. Parking is FREE, which is a big deal for us, since Long Beach is a busy city. Most of the guests are either military, business professionals that fly in and out of the airport down the street, or visitors who visit family and friends in town (like us). Point of interests nearby are the LBX a few miles from the hotel for drinks, food and entertainment, and a good AYCE sushi place is just down the street.
There's a bunch of really great hotels near the shore that accommodate the guests who stay for the night after cruises also. We also frequent these hotels, but the parking there are a premium due to the proximity to the shore and downtown Long Beach. For the value and the convenience, we will pick this hotel first before the others because we get a long more bang for our buck.

Stayed at this hotel one night post cruise and selected it because it is located close to the airport for an early flight. Loved that they had a free airport shuttle and if you are driving, they do not charge for parking which is a plus now days. Even though the hotel is located very close to the runways, our room was quiet and were not bothered by the airport noise. LGB is not a super busy airport so not lots of flights. It was noise at the pool when flights were taking off, but not bad. Staff was helpful and the rooms were clean and comfortable. Currently now lounge due to Covid, or maybe staffing.

Ugh. The hotel has been updated, but it was clearly not designed by someone who traveled as a couple. One side of the bed had only the phone and the other side had the outlet with USB ports AND the radio with outlets and USB ports. This means the one side of the bed cannot charge their phone at night or must have it elsewhere. I sleep on the side of the bed where there was only a phone and no outlets, but I always keep my phone with me to get notices from our son's CGM. This means I can either have low charge in the morning or the cord would go under my husband's head. There wasn't even a wall outlet! The bathroom sink could have been a little smaller to give some more room to the already tiny/limited counter space. The light in the shower is very bright and right above where you stand, so when you rinse your hair, you are blinded if your eyes are open. Plus, the hairdryer was not great. Why is it so hard to have a decent hairdryer?! While the staff was really nice, it was kind of upsetting to make this reservation, and have it note that you have access to the M lounge only to be told it won't be open for a few more days. They did offer some additional points as a consolation prize, but it was minimal. Additionally, there was a homeless man wondering the parking lot, which was a little unsettling, because he seemed very agitated.

As a flagship Marriott branded property, I have to say that I’m disappointed in the service from the check in staff. She was rude and temperamental and really needs to find a job she can be happier at. When I addressed that I wanted to speak to a manager the response was “there isn’t one”. I requested that I did not want to be helped by her and requested for someone else.
I expressed how disappointed I was with the new person and she checked me in and knowing I was upset, a manager on duty never reached out to me during my stay.
After getting a hold of a general manager and expressing my issue the response I got was that “fortunately we live in America and we all have choices”. As a manager, this is not the response I was expecting, especially from leadership at a brand leader in the hospitality industry. I strongly suggest that this manager be replaced with someone that values and understand what the hospitality industry is about and someone that cares and values their job. The property itself is beautiful and well maintained, it’s just that unfortunately the staff and general manager need to learn more about compassion and retrained. Because of this I would never stay at this property again.
As a Hyatt globalist, Hilton Diamond and Bonvoy Gold… I really regret staying here and my expectation of service fell short. The post isn’t to complain about my issue but there are other choices in the area where the properties are as good if not better with better service. This place should not be rewarded with rooms filled as they do not value their customers.

I’m a long time Marriott experienced traveler. I average 8-10 overnights per month. The full service Marriotts are generally not worth the cost. They have essentially given up on amenities for business travelers. This hotel seemed more interested in wearing a mask than service. Not real friendly. I recommend using AirB&B if staying in California.

On the whole, had a wonderful experience at this hotel - the staff are professional, the rooms are clean and well appointed, and the location is excellent, especially if you are flying out of Long Beach Airport. Only quibble here is the lounge for platinum Bonvoy members - not having it accessible takes away a major value proposition, and since all other food options at the hotel are quite expensive, unless you are willing to pay excessively for food, you are forced to find alternative options. I'd recommend getting the platinum lounge opened up ASAP.

At $300-400/night, it is NOT worth it. The Marriott is old, dated, and a bit worn out, which is probably why they are doing construction in many of the floors. The construction is extremely loud starting around 7-8am if you're on one of the adjacent floors. I've stayed here for 5 consecutive weeks for work, and am I a titanium elite, but haven't seen any benefit in terms of room upgrade, or service levels. The exec lounge is OK in terms of offerings, although they charge for alcohol. The ladies who run that are fantastic. In my past week, something happened with the pipes and water shut off completely in my room in the middle of a shower. The manager AND GM are two of the rudest managers I've come across at Marriott... They insisted that this was not their fault given it was an accident, and offered an incredibly lousy point compensation. This also doesn't excuse the fact that it still took them 20 minutes to get me a replacement room for a shower. Won't be staying here again. Westin in Long Beach Downtown is newer and about half the price.

Not Worthy of being branded a Marriott. So I will share the positives first. Rooms are decent. Location is convenient. And the airport noise is not bad as long as you are on the correct side of the building. But after all is said and done what separates a hotel from all the others is service. As a Bonvoy Elite member and frequent traveler staying at Marriotts I can easily say the front desk and management at this hotel is the worst I’ve ever seen. Anywhere. Had a business trip that required 2 different reservation numbers because I stayed an additional night before our conference began. I made it clear upon check in that I was staying for 2 nights. Did not want to change rooms and would be away all day the next day. I was told “no problem I will note the reservation and you are all set.” Upon returning after a long day of course my key had been disarmed. They did in fact check me out of the room even though I was told they would not. And the kicker was their system was down so credit cards could not be processed. I was told in a rather rude fashion “ I need to a credit card to secure payment before I can you give you another key”. But they couldn’t take my card because the system was done. But fact was the room was paid for in advance and they had my card on file from when I checked in the day before. Listening was not the front desks agents strong suit. Copping an attitude was. All of my belongings were in the room and she would not give me a key until the manger got involved and to no surprise, he didn’t ask for my credit card. When I did get to my room it had not been cleaned. But I guess I shouldn’t have been satisfied that at least they didn’t remove my belongings. Because as hard as may be to believe that is what they did to my colleague who was traveling with me. He had a similar situation staying an additional night after the conference. Upon his return he had been checked out and they took all of his belongings out of the room. Hard to believe the lack of communication at a so called “Marriott”. First and last time here. Management obviously either is incompetent or doesn’t care. Or maybe both.

I really enjoyed my stay at this hotel. It was beautifully decorated, clean, quiet and comfortable. The pool area is so beautiful with lit palm trees and a gorgeous fire pit. The breakfast is quite pricey at over $30. But there is a starbucks in the lobby where you can get some smaller items to eat (first come first serve). There is a M club lounge with delicious food if you are a higher status member. There is a mexican restaurant down in the lobby with good reviews but we didn't eat there. The location was extremely convenient right off the 405 and next to the airport. FREE PARKING was a huge plus. Thanks for a great stay!
