Detailed Reviews
The Marriott is a clean hotel and the staff was friendly. On the plus side, internet and TV in the room worked fine, and the fitness center was clean with a good variety of up to date equipment.
However, there were serious issues, so I would not go back there for a business trip:
1) Most of the time, I would wait a few minutes to get hot water at the sink or in the shower. Total waste of water.
2) I was there for 6 days, and one out of 4 elevators (25%) was always not working, which led to some good waits.
3) There is no business center, so I had to go to another hotel to print out some business documents.
4) The motion sensor in the bathroom went off after 5 minutes. I was in the shower, and I waved my hand, then a towel, and all of the lights stayed off. I had to go tothe switch and manually turn it on. Luckily, I left the door open, and there was indirect light from the desk and bed, or else it would have been totally dark in the bathroom - a huge safety risk.
That morning (first day), I went to the front desk to ask about getting it fixed. They said they would. That night, after my meetings, I timed it and the sensor went off after just 1 MINUTE.
So, I go to front desk and told them that it was worse (2nd day). They apologized and said they would fix it. I came back, and it still went off after 1 minute.
So I go back to the front desk AGAIN on the 3rd day and ask again. They said they would fix it. That night, the sensor finally worked - and kept the light on for over 30 minutes! So I just manually turned the bathroom light on and off.
Also, the tissue and toilet paper had to be the thinnest and flimsiest types I had ever used.
The hotel is located next to Pine Avenue, which has several restaurants within walking distance, so the location is good for foodies. The hotel has a grab and go, "The Market", and you can get a stale bagel and orange juice for about $12.20 (with pretty slow service).
So I would suggest going somewhere else for a business trip.

Location can't be beat. This hotel used to be the Renaissance which always gets packed during the major events (Grand Prix, concerts, etc). Being a Marriott Bonvoy Platinum, we were upgraded to a harbor view room facing the Terrace Theater which is one of my favorite Long Beach landmarks. The lobby aesthetics are good, room is fairly spaceous, modern and aptly furnished. Will defniitely come back since we go to Long Beach numerous times to visit family.

I recently stayed at this property while accompanying my husband for a conference. We stayed at the property for two weeks. It is modern, clean, and I believe they had a recent remodel. There is a pool, gym, Starbucks, and restaurant on site. The location is good as it is across the street from the convention center and a shopping center, as well as, a brief walk to the beach, restaurants, marina, aquarium, etc. I also walked to the Queen Mary and the ferry to Catalina; that is a bit further, but still walkable.
The service is pretty good. Room service was quick and the good was good as far as hotel food goes. We did a fair amount of laundry and that service was good as well. Housekeeping was a bit hit or miss, if they were busy they would sometimes not come at all. Generally, not a big problem for us as we don't expect every day, but if you skip a day or two and then no one comes it's a bit inconvenient.
There is parking on site, though I did not use it, so I cannot speak much to the experience.

Marriott Downtown is newly renovated and has become a jewel of Long beach. My room was spacious and comfortable, well appointed in all expectation. I walk with canes and the disable features are discreet and very useful. They have an M Club now and the food there was especially tasty, and innovative. Quiche, Mini Beef Wellington, pesto mozzarella. At 7.30 desserts were offered. As an extensive traveler I usually dine at restaurants but the hotel served excellent food and I entertained there twice this trip. Breakfast offered Salmon Eggs Benedict, which was the best I have had. The hotel location at Ocean and Pine makes it a quick stroll to many good local restaurants as well. I have been staying at the hotel when it was a Renaissance, the staff welcomed me back and continue friendly and helpful. They are just completing their extensive renovations but their effort really shows in a lovely lobby. In my many decades of travel this was an excellent stay. It is now the best hotel in Long Beach, and compares well to any I have stayed in, throughout the USA and overseas.

This is a difficult review to write. The hotel is newly renovated, both the room and the public areas were very nice and the location is great! The issue that I had was that I barely got any sleep the two nights that I stayed there. Although there was a label on the corner of the window about there being a sound proof film on the windows, we were repeatedly woken up by sirens, motor cycles and people yelling.
It wasn't just the noise from the outside, but also from other rooms. At one point, I was awakened by the sound of a Microsoft Outlook reminder, I thought I had left my computer on only to discover that I had shut down my computer, the sound was coming from a neighboring room.
I am also not a fan of fees, despite this being a business hotel, they charged a resort fee and parking ran $42 per night.

This was a really pleasant stay, the hotel is beautiful. Very clean open and spacious and the staff were very friendly on arrival and throughout.
I found my room had been upgraded from a standard room to a big room with a city view which was a lovely surprise and made my day.
The room was very clean and had everything I needed for a comfortable stay. Very well located and would love to stay again.
