Detailed Reviews
Holiday Inn LBA has attentive staff and is only a few minutes by cab to airport. There shuttle is fairly reliable and drivers help you in and out of van. Unfortunately, this hotel is very tired. The furniture is a bit dated and in distressed shape. No issues with bathroom and bed was very comfortable. Just know that one of the runways is only a few hundred meters away, so you will hear that up until 11 PM local time.

We hadn't planned on a stay in Long Beach, but were sent to this hotel by the cruise line after testing positive for COVID in the middle of our 14 day cruise. Along with several other passengers, we were required to complete the remaining days of a 10-day quarantine when we got off the ship. When I found out where we were being sent, I went online and looked at reviews. I was very disturbed about all the negativity, especially since we weren't going to be allowed to leave our room. There was no restaurant or provided breakfast on site, so we had to use Instacart, DoorDash, etc. to have things left at our door.
IHG/Holiday Inn is one of the chains we use regularly and are used to things like breakfast being included, so this was missed for sure. As for other issues, yes the A/C was noisy but we were glad to have it. There was also a lot of outside noise on the side of the building where we were (traffic and other things). However, our room was clean and we had plenty of towels. I did have to ask for extra washcloths and pods for the Keurig which were quickly provided. They also gave us a menu for food delivery that was limited but inexpensive. We ordered from that menu three different times and food was good considering that nothing delivered ends up being as hot as I'd like and the rooms only had a fridge, no microwave. During our stay, I talked to at least 3 different people (Daisy, Yvette, and Elizabeth) with guest services and all were pleasant, patient and helpful with all my questions and concerns. One of my questions had to do with transportation options to LAX. I had looked at Uber and other options, but prices were all over the place. They told me they could arrange a cab for us when we were ready to leave and that it would only take about 10 minutes for the cab to arrive. We chose this option and are glad we did. The Yellow Cab charged a flat rate to LAX which was cheaper than all the other prices I had seen.
So while it wasn't our choice to stay here, all in all, it wasn't as bad as I expected from others' reviews.

My wife and I booked ourselves at this hotel for an overnight stay July 27, 2023 since we had an early morning flight out of Long Beach Airport. We have stayed here before and were satisfied with the room, staff, and amenities, in particular the airport shuttle. However, during this last stay our experience was less than satisfactory. We were assigned a room on the "top floor", #1209 of the hotel and were pleased since it gave us a runway view of LGB. Since I'm an airplane fan this was such a bonus. Although the "top floor" room gave us a nice view, we soon discovered a considerable amount of noise from what I thought was maintenance repair up on the roof. Thinking the noise would stop as soon as daylight was ending. It didn't but continued on even when we were trying to get some early sleep. (Again, early flight the next morning.). I called the front desk numerous times but no answer. Frustrated about the constant "roof" noise, I personally went down to the front desk to hopefully rectify the problem. When I approached the counter, the agent was on his cell phone and quickly placed it in his pocket as he noticed me. I asked if there was maintenance being done on the roof directly above our room. The agent said there is a restaurant up above your room and closes at 10:00 pm. I requested to be moved but his reply was, "I ain't got no more rooms to move you to" and mentioned the noise should stop soon. Returning to the room, the noise continued until at least 11:00 pm. The quiet enjoyment we were hoping for at this hotel was not met. We were hoping for an "early to bed, early to rise" experience. Did not happen. The overhead restaurant noise began again at 5:00 am. At least we were awake by then to get ready for the airport shuttle. I feel the hotel, as a courtesy, to disclose or inform other travelers that are assigned the "top floor" isn't exactly a top floor and they would experience noise from the activity of the restaurant. Maybe they could use the real top floor as office space since business activity usually ends by late afternoon or early evening.

The hotel is adding an entire new building adjacent to its main tower and a parking structure, so the entire site is a major construction zone. The whole lot is a small corner parcel so you are right in the middle of the construction when you walk from the parking lot to the hotel lobby. There is hardly any parking because half of the parking is being used for building material storage. So some guests are forced to park where ever they can squeeze in, which makes it difficult to exit the lot. The parking lot is torn up and covered in dirt, so your shoes and your car become filthy. It's just a cloud of dust outside, so beware if you have any respiratory issues. The hotel is adjacent to the freeway, so there is no street parking to avoid the construction. Walking from the parking lot to the lobby is treacherous because there are workers driving construction equipment around and it is apparent they are inconvenienced by your presence, so they don't slow down or stop for you to pass. At one point, construction was being down on both outlets to the street and you had limited visibility pulling out. Inside the hotel it is worn. The staff are doing their best in this difficult situation. I had previously stayed here 2 years ago and can say that the quality of the hotel has decreased substantially. They should really just temporarily close while they finish the construction because it is wrong to ask people to pay for such level of service.

Hi kristengpour, We aim to give hassle-free and comfortable experiences for guests on the move. I'm pleased that we got the chance to host you. We pledge to fulfill our promise to give our guests reasons to smile, and it seems we tripped on some areas the last time that you were with us. I'm very sorry that you weren't at ease with the renovations. Your comments are relevant to us, so I imparted them to our upper management. Please trust that these will inspire us to enhance their features and services. Hopefully, you can check the private message that I sent you. This hotel stay didn't turn out as you expected it to be, but I'm still hoping that you'd allow us to have a second bite of the apple, and elevate your journey. All the best, Leni C. I love the Holiday Inn - I have always thought they had higher standards for their brand. I had yet to find a poor property, until I stayed here!
If you remember the old Motel 6's...this is what this property reminds me of.
CONS:
The floor was so dirty I left foot prints in the tub when I went to shower,
The chair had stains on it and the arms were wearing thing.
The doors had gaps between the outside hallway and the room.
The windows were incredibly filthy
Our room had an adjoining door (I didn't feel safe)
No in room safe
furniture was very old and outdated
No restaurants or dining options (other than Jack in the Box and Subway) within walking distance
Not a very safe feeling neighborhood
They used such heavy "freshener" that is gave me a headache
PROS:
The bed was comfortable
Front desk staff did their best
Shuttle was a nice perk
Elevators had cracked/broken panels
When I expressed my disappointment with the room I was offered to view an "upgraded room" that was not much better with the exception of a bit newer furniture
The rate wasn't even that great for what you end up with. I recommend increasing your budget and staying somewhere else.

We did a reservation for 3 nights, on the Saturday night the roof top bar was reserved for a party. We were two floors above, and we could eat the DJ to well. Did complain at least 3 times, and the only answer since they paid for the party, they were allowed to make all the noise they wanted. I guess I did not paid enough to be considered as e guest. I will never recommend this hotel to anyone.

Abysmal service. Another IHG hotel that canceled reservation after trying to run the credit card and failing. Yet the same credit card was used upon check-in. This is happened now twice in a row. And it doesn't matter if you are a top level status IHG member.
Fire doors were all closed. These are the doors magnetically held open until the alarm goes off.
Hallways look like they're under construction, however, unfortunately, they are not. This hotel is rundown.
Incompetent front desk staff. My colleagues visiting from out of the country were greeted by someone with the verbal communication skills of a second grader. They were told their reservation is canceled, and when they were told the room price, they were informed it was $100 per room higher than the original price. After repeated request for clarification from me, a local, finally the desk clerk explained properly that there is a $100 hold put on the room per night. Check in took almost 20 minutes due to this desk clerk's inability to communicate clearly. English language was not his problem. He was obviously a native English speaker. He simply lacked the intellect to communicate this concept to the customers.
Why is IHG canceling reservations When it is their fault that credit cards are not clearing. Obviously the credit card was valid, because it was used to pay for the room. Why doesn't IHG air on the side of the customer rather than canceling the room at 4:00 p.m., 2 hours before the customer arrives to check in. And why doesn't this cancellation alert the customer? When the customer looks on the IHG app, it shows a still valid reservation.

During my stay at a Holiday Inn in Long Beach, CA a hotel employee walked in my (locked) room in the middle of the night. No knock, just walked in. Started me out of a dead sleep. They saw me jump out of my bed and immediately ran out of the room. After the adrenaline rush I didn't really go back to sleep. (work was a joy the next day) In the morning I asked why. Front desk said it was to "check to see if someone was in the room".
Here is what IHG had to say when I contacted them:
"I hope you're safe and well. I am ******from IHG Guest Relations. It's a pleasure to assist you.
I sincerely apologize for the experience you encountered during your recent stay at the Holiday Inn Long Beach Airport. Please know that incidents of this nature are taken very seriously by our team, and we have initiated a thorough investigation into the matter.
Don't worry, I have personally contacted the hotel and spoken with ********, the Front Desk Staff. She has provided insight into the issue, acknowledging that there was a failure on the part of the PM shift staff to properly fulfill their duties, resulting in your room being incorrectly marked as vacant in their system. ******** has extended her apologies and, as a compensation, she is offering you a complimentary breakfast. To redeem this offer, simply approach the front desk."
"incidents of this nature are taken very seriously by our team" Nothing says we are serious like a complimentary breakfast. /s (follow up with the hotel and IHG yielded a lack of any real acknowledgment of the seriousness of the incident and was finally offered 25000 pts with the comment “that’s the best we can do” which isn’t the point at all. Besides, 25000 points is what I have been offered when the hot water was off or valet parking was full. It’s insulting and eye opening that they couldn’t care less.)

The place was Filthy,
I searched on Expedia for a hotel in LA with a shuttle from the Airport.
I searched on your website for an LA hotel with a airport shuttle. This Holiday Inn advertised an Airport Shuttle but from the Long Beach Airport - I cost me $83 for a cab to the hotel.
The hotel restaurant advertised that it was open until 9:00, we got there a 5 to 9:00 and the manager said the grill was closed.
The waitress that took our order left before we got our food and we had to chase around to find someone to pay- needless to say we, received no service.
The one elevator was shut down the other elevator was filthy – pictures attached.
The room was a mess, the carpet was worn out, the bathroom’s walls had paint drops splashed on the wall paper, the shower fixtures were pulling off the wall, the air conditioner was filthy and broken – pictures attached.
I’ve used Expedia quite a bit in the past with no problems- I paid a premium rate for a nicer hotel, this place should not be listed as “good”

I booked a Priceline rate that included breakfast. Shuttle timed nicely with my arrival at airport (leaves hotel every 30 minutes). Only shuttle I’ve ever used where luggage is not put into the back but instead rides in the van with you, which was an adventure. Young man at front desk wrote one room number (11X7) on my room key packet and a totally different number (10XX), along with the incorrect date, on my breakfast voucher. Tried both of the written room numbers, key worked on neither. Hauled my luggage back down to the desk and got a different woman, who was baffled by her co-worker’s incompetence and got me sorted out, correct room being 10X7 and also wrote me a new breakfast voucher.
On the surface, room looks nice. But it’s definitely worn around the edges and the armchair looks pretty nasty. Bed was too firm and springy, pillows much too soft. Did not sleep well because of this.
Breakfast wasn’t great either. It’s a self-serve small buffet, similar to what you’d get for free at a Best Western, but it required you wait to be seated. Unsure why, as there was plenty of open seating. No waffles or pancakes. Fruit, oatmeal, bagels, breakfast potatoes, sausage, yogurt. They will bring you juice and coffee.
There was also a crushed piece of bagel (?) near the elevator on my floor when I checked in around 10pm. Housekeeping still had not cleaned it up by the time I left at 11am.
Overall, would not recommend and would not stay here again.

There was also a crushed piece of bagel (?) near the elevator on my floor when I checked in around 10pm. Housekeeping still had not cleaned it up by the time I left at 11am.
Overall, would not recommend and would not stay here again.

I honestly don't recall I didn't use the shuttle, I think the front desk can you help you with this if you just call. I would also warn you to make sure you stay in the tower not the ancillary other building that building was terrible it was about the same as a very cheap motel.
The shuttle operates within a 3 to 5 mile radius so, no, it doesn't go to LAX or the port.
Yes, there is. You just have to book with the front desk. The drivers are very nice.
