The Westin Long Beach hotel garners compliments for its chic and stylish atmosphere, with guests enjoying the elegant yet cozy vibe. The hotel's prime location earns high marks for convenience and proximity to local attractions. Service at the hotel is often described as professional and attentive, though some guests have experienced service delays. While the cleanliness and variety of amenities are praised, opinions are divided on the rooms, with some citing issues with maintenance and dated decor. Additionally, the value proposition is criticized due to additional fees that leave some guests feeling the cost of their stay is not justified.

We stayed here for a conference at the convention center basically across the street. This is a nice hotel. We had one night that we had to call the front desk due to some loud, rowdy flight attendants at 0200. They sent security right up. When we went down to the desk the next morning with concerns that we might be disturbed again, they offered to change our room (which we did-thank you Westin).

We had a delicious breakfast at the restaurant onsite. However there is a myriad of restaurants in the area. Numerous chains on Pike St. For an inexpensive breakfast or lunch, exit the side door by the bar/restaurant and about 15 feet away is Cafe 301. (its located between the Westin and the next building) I had a patty-melt one day and a tuna melt the next for about $6.50 for breakfast that held me all day.

The red "Passport" bus is free and takes you to the Queen Mary and the aquarium as well as other places near the convention center and downtown.

For a nice walk, turn left as you exit the front door of the hotel. Grab a coffee on the way and walk about 1 mile to the Bluff Park neighborhood to see classic 1920s southern California homes and apartments complete with their gardens. Then get back on Ocean Blvd to see the large homes facing the water. You can opt to stay on Ocean Blvd to do this or take one of the beach access stairways to walk on the bike path that is literally on the beach back to the hotel.

The Westin Long Beach was my 2nd hotel stop in my 10-day Vegas-CA Vacation. I stayed for 5 nights.

PROS:

1. The hotel is located in a great location…very close to the beach, the outlet mall and many local restaurants. There was even a food truck festival nearby with great food as well as lots of vegan foods, desserts, and vegan household items.

2. It is on Ocean Blvd, so only a few blocks to the beach and marina.

3. The staff and valet were wonderfully kind and helpful.

4. The inside of the hotel is very clean and pleasant…even the hallways and elevators were ALWAYS clean.

5. My room was on the 14th floor with an absolutely awesome partial harbor view.

6. The rooms were very nice and clean. The bed was very comfortable.

7. If you enjoy your wine and cocktails…there’s a bar in the lobby.

8. Thursday they offer a social hour with food, music and drinks.

CONS:

1. I stayed for 5 nights and was told that since I was only staying for a short time…I did not warrant any room service nor any housekeeping services.

Now to be totally transparent…I had a transplant last year and I prefer not to have anyone entering my hotel rooms to clean, especially since I prefer to do my own initial cleaning upon arrival, as well as tidying my rooms throughout my stay. However, I wasn’t sure what to do with the dirty towels or the daily trash, so the towels piled up under the sink for 5 days and I left the trash in the hallway each evening; although my trash was the only trash in the hallway. There could have been better communication on the part of the staff in regards to how to get additional towels and shampoo and where to dispose of used towels/trash.

Just a side note…while staying in Vegas for 4 nights, the “V” also had Covid restrictions in place, but the difference was that they provided me with options for room service and housekeeping, whereas, the Westin did not.

2. After my Westin stay, I was left with the impression that there are some in the hotel industry who are possibly using Covid as an excuse to provide less services, while still charging premium prices.

Overall, I will consider staying at the Westin again in the future; however, not before I try other nearby hotels to determine if they offer more amenities for the money I pay.

I hope you find this review helpful!

I visited The Westin Long Beach for a work conference which was being hosted at the hotel. We were traveling locally up from San Diego along with our 12 year young pup so we had a bit of a drive and upon arrival were immediately greeted by the valet with several gentlemen to help us out of our car with the bags. They quickly took care of our baggage and had it held while we checked in. The check in process was smooth and quick, despite a large group of flight attendants and the pilots arriving in front of us.

We were taken to our room by Nancy who was helping us with our bag. As we were with our dog we were placed on a lower floor (5) which was no issue as it was close to the 24/7 fitness center which I was happy about. Nancy was SO kind and and SO helpful. The first room we arrived in was not satisfactory as it had a bit of an old cigarette smell (which sometimes is unavoidable at hotels) so she quickly got us into another room on the same floor. Nancy kindly helped us unload our bags and even placed our jackets on a hanger carefully in the closet and lifted our heavy suitcase onto the suitcase holder. The room was perfect and very clean, we felt very comfortable.

The best thing about this hotel is the kindness of the staff - they are all smiling, so kind, helpful and not at all arrogant. As a Southern California native I know it's possible to sometimes get a bit of an attitude with service, but not the case at this hotel.

I LOVE that The Westin hotels are SO dog friendly, our dog was loved on acknowledged and also made to feel good, it was really sweet to see. We even got an entire page full of things to do around Long Beach which are dog friendly and inclusive. We ended up doing the recommended walking trail (the hotel even had a map) the first morning which was excellent.

Another great thing is that this hotel is NOT understaffed which I know is an issue for many hotels right now. I have not had this level of service for a long time and let me just say that last week I stayed at a brand new San Diego beach front hotel last week which cost over $1200 a night and this hotel at less than 25% of that price surpassed it in service and quality.

Nancy and the team were so helpful, I would definitely stay here again!

This hotel is shoddy. If you want your room to be serviced during your stay the reception staff tell you that they need to 24 hours notice to book your room in with the cleaners! Who has ever heard of such a condition from a hotel that charges the amount that they do! Do not buy this hotel’s internet packages, the wifi is considerably slow and keeps freezing, it’s awful. This Westin does not live up to its normal reputation.

I recently spent 5 nights at the Westin Long Beach with a large group attending the Tournament of Rose's Parade. The hotel was in a good location near many restaurants and things to do when not attending Parade festivities. Rooms were clean and updated. Banquet facilities were very good along with food & beverage. Special shout out to the wonderful breakfast staff who always had my peanut butter ready each morning for my breakfast bagel, much appreciated!

First off the hotel room had no coffee maker and no microwave. We stayed here because the reviews were good but we were miserable. We took our 10 yr old son to visit the Aquarium and this hotel was a perfect distance from all attractions however, there was a huge crowd at the pool from about 3pm until the hotel finally closed it..noone was social distancing and few were wearing masks. The were drinking and making all kinds of noise. The someone decides to light up a cigar which smelled so bad that even with the door shut we could smellit all night! The alarms went off and we were told to evacuate through the stairs. We waited for at least an hour before someone finally got the elevators running again(we stayed on the 5th floor because that was where the rooms started). We had to wait until the next moring to enjoy the pool and jacuzzi. There was a gas smell out at the pool and the jacuzzi smelled like mildew. I was very suprised since this is a 4star hotel and I have stayed at the Westin hotels elsewhere. The beds were not comfortable as I could feel the springs in the middle of it at night. When we tried to leave to get food (the food place here was crazy expensive) our ticket to leave the parking structure would not work so we had to go back up the elevators and to the desk to get another one. The parking is $30 a day which is ridiculous when they already cut a bunch of other amenities in the room. I was very unhappy with this hotel and will never stay at this one again.

I recently spent four nights at this nice hotel , the check in experience was smooth friendly and efficient.
The hotel is a large property with a huge lobby and is in a good location being only 25-30 drive from LAX airport. Shops restaurants and bars are a short walk from the hotel and the First street Metro Rail station is just around the corner.
The room was spacious and clean with a reasonable view , I had a fridge , coffee machine, iron , safe
and hair dryer.
The phone is next to the bed and there are plenty of USB sockets.
Lovely “ rain fall “ type shower with a large ceiling mounted shower head .
Room was well sound proofed and bed was soft and comfortable.
I used the restaurant/ lobby bar ,the staff there were excellent .
I was able to use one of the hotels umbrellas and rented a car from the hotel based Budget Rent a car .
I really enjoyed my stay at this hotel every one from the front desk onwards made me feel welcome

My experience at the Westin was excellent.
I love the refrigerator in the room and the Heavenly beds.
At check-in, they give you the option of how often you want your room cleaned, I opted to have my room cleaned every other day.
I was here for a convention, it took me about 6-8 minutes to walk over to the convention center.
Since I was traveling alone, I went to the concierge to ask her about dining options within walking distance. Nancy was fabulous and gave me wonderful advice on where to go to get dinner. (A great Thai place a block away!) She even found some utensils for me when I realized that the restaurant had forgotten to give them to me.
She even remembered my name and greeted me each time she saw me.
What a delight! Thank you, Nancy, for being the most memorable part of an otherwise boring business trip.

The overall hotel is nice with cool design and architects style. The room we had which was on the corner of the 14th floor was extremely noisy. The noise came from the street and outside along with from inside the hotel. We had cocktails at the lobby bar and we sat for 10 min before even being said hello to. The server partially cleared the 5 dirty plates and glasses and the left as we sat for another 5/7 minutes. Another server came by and finally cleared the rest and took our orders. It was around 20 before getting my beer and my wife’s cocktail. We are also Bonvoy Gold members which was never Acknowledged and we were never offered a gift or room upgrade. For a Westin, our experience fell way below the bar. we will not be staying here again in the future.

We stayed at the hotel and it was my worst experience in a hotel in the United States. We have never had such a bad welcoming. Yet I used to travel a lot. Indeed, I accompanied my husband for his work, and he had sent an email to confirm a room with a double bed. Upon arrival at the hotel, the front desk woman, Leslie, she replied that there was no room with a double bed available and that we had to send an email before coming.
We replied that the email has been sent but that no one has deigned to reply. Leslie answered us haughtily and did not want to call her manager when we asked her. Then she left in a room, she came out and told us that there is a room available on the 5th floor with a double bed. Who are we laughing at ?! We were exhausted because of the flight and we just wanted what we have asked for.

1 hour later, we went back down to the front desk to withdraw money. Leslie was even less agreeable. I have never seen such unacceptable behavior for a hotel and for a hotel staff. When my husband asked her something, she did not even bother looking at us, not once ! I can tell you that this is the first time that we feel so little considered and yet we just wanted a simple, efficient and pleasant service worthy of your hotel.

Having a travel agency that works mainly with luxury hotels and French palaces, it was the first and last time that I come to your hotel. I like to test hotels with my husband in order to come back with my family, or talk to our friends about it and why not come back to select it for my travel agency.
But we were so disappointed that I will tell everyone around us, including my clients to avoid your hotel.

Moreover, toilet seat was dirty and also the bathrobes ! Shame.
