The Ranch at Laguna Beach is a favorite for its stunning location near the beach and peaceful surroundings. While the hotel's tranquil atmosphere and clean, well-appointed rooms are often highlighted, some guests cite noise issues and a lack of certain amenities. The resort's vast array of amenities, including a spa and dining options, receive high marks despite occasional hiccups.
Opinions on value are split, with some criticizing the cost relative to issues like thin walls, yet many appreciate the overall beauty and quality of food. Service quality reportedly fluctuates, with instances of both commendation and disappointment.

Detailed Reviews
We booked the two bedroom, one king, one queen. Two story town home set up with your own entrance, which was great! Easy access to nearby outdoor parking lot. It was very clean, appears newly renovated, well thought out beachy ranch decor. Second floor master bedroom has beautiful view of golf course, as did first floor patio area. There was one large bathroom with shower and dual sinks on second floor, queen bedroom on second floor. Both rooms had a small walk in closet. Two plush bathrobes provided as well as shampoo, soap, cotton balls, nail file, body wash. First floor has a small dining area with dining table with four chairs, microwave, two coffee makers, and sparkling water ($3 a bottle). Each floor had its own heater/AC unit.
There is a powder room downstairs with toilet. Downstairs Living area with sofa bed, coffee table, large flat screen tv.
Great for families! We stayed with three adults and four children and there was plenty of room for all of us.
We felt very welcomed by the friendly valets when we pulled up to the lobby area in our car. Check in was a breeze. They offer a free shuttle to the beach right across the street.
Had dinner and breakfast at the hotel restaurant within a short walk from our room, and the food was so good! They grow some of their own organic veggies on site. Service was great, they cleared out dishes very quickly and the ambience at night is warm and romantic.
Turn down service was awesome. They left gourmet chocolates for us, and helped us turn the sofa into a bed.
There is an outdoor heated pool and small jacuzzi hot tub as well as a small gym with free water bottles, water, ear buds, towels. Some of the one story rooms surround the pool and gym. Treadmill has built in radio, podcasts, YouTube, and A/C. Free oranges and green apples.
I was very impressed by the staff. Everyone was friendly, polite, helpful. I even received text messages from a personal concierge asking how my stay was and whether I needed anything, wow!
Free WiFi!
I felt that I was no longer in LA but in a different state- a good thing. Highly recommend this hotel!! Better than any of the luxury hotels I have stayed at including the Ritz Carlton.

First time getting out of town since Covid came into our lives. The staff was extremely professional and made us feel confident that the rooms were sanitized, cleaned and they were doing everything possible to make people feel comfortable. Easy walk to the beach & the in-room tablet offered a morning hike with some of the best views of laguna. Would love to came back when they're back up and running 100%, as I'm sure the restaurant is wonderful.
Highly recommend anyone that comes to laguna stay here! The rooms are nicely equipped and have a very charming esthetic.

Shawn P, We are stoked that you had a great Memorial Day weekend getaway at the resort. The health and safety of our guests and staff are always our highest priority. Our team has worked extremely hard on developing/executing sanitizing and cleaning procedures. The resort restaurant, Harvest just opened up on June 1, so we would love to have you come back to dine and stay. Thank you for staying with us and for the recommendation to others. We look forward to welcoming you back. Sincerely, Sean and The Ranch LB Team

I used to go to The Ranch way back in the 60's with my parents when the whole complex was known as Ben Brown's. Now only the golf course bears that name. I knew it had been closed for years and was surprised when I learned that it had re-opened under new ownership. Having been there before, I knew it was a perfect place for a COVID getaway as the rooms are spread out in numerous buildings, and there is so much outdoor space where one can enjoy the property at a distance from others.
We arrived and were checked in promptly by the front desk. The first evening we met local Orange County friends and enjoyed a drink of the patio of Ben's Pantry. We then had dinner on the patio at Harvest; the food was excellent, and the service was friendly and professional. We had two breakfasts at Harvest as well and found all of the meals to be of high quality. We very much enjoyed the live music on the patio in the evening; again, social distancing was easy.
Our canyon view room was exactly as pictured on the website, and we had a choice as to whether we wanted room service or not. Given that we were staying just two nights, we opted out. The room was spotless, the shower was great, and the TV reception was excellent despite the property's location in a canyon. You do need to be aware that there is limited phone/WiFi reception; this is not the place to go if you intend to conduct a lot of business online while you are there. My only recommendation would be to add an additional towel bar to the bathroom. This was a much needed escape for two seniors who had been on six-month lockdown. We will most definitely consider it again whether the virus remains or not.
P.S. We are not golfers, but the course was very busy from dawn to dusk.

If you want a real getaway to relax with your significant other, then I highly recommend The Ranch. We felt very comfortable during COVID as well because they took all of the necessary protocols to make us feel safe. Most of the rooms are single level which is great because you have very limited noise from guests (basically no noise at all). They play live music outdoors every afternoon for Happy Hour though about 8PM which was very relaxing. Their salt water pool was open for a limited number of guests and they had food and drink service as well. The beach is a quick 10-15 minute walk or a 3 minute shuttle ride and they provide chairs and umbrellas for their guests at the beach. I can't wait to go back to The Ranch soon!

We had a great stay and sincerely appreciated the late checkout. The tree house was impeccably clean and the canyon views were stunning. Food was delicious and grounds were so beautiful to walk around. Felt safe with Covid and that mask wearing was well-adopted and encouraged by signs posted around property.
We loved the easy access to the beach and food at Lost Pier is delicious. It was easy to get beach chairs from the beach cafe too. Getting to tour the farm in the canyon with Leo was a special treat. You really get a feel that the owners care about the property, sustainability, and continuing to evolve the resort.
Had a few misses worth sharing- staff reached out via email to see if we had any special requests and if we were celebrating anything. Requested a pack and play and let them know we were celebrating my birthday. Got a response that “ We will certainly do our best to make this a special birthday for you” however during trip there was nothing special offered for birthday, and had to call to front desk to get pack and play. House was not stocked with dish sponge or napkins (know they are sustainable so wouldn’t have expected paper towels/napkins) but no cloth napkins either. Treehouse had a mysterious attic light on which we didn’t notice until going to bed but shone into bedroom window so made it harder to sleep. Got busy with kids the next day so forgot to ask maintenance to get into attic to turn it off. We had a great time overall just some things worth noting for future.

This hotel is very special, and must be experienced to understand how special it is. The location is pure magic, in a secluded canyon opening up to one of South Laguna's iconic beaches, all within a short private walk. The dining and common areas are also special. Live music on the patio in the evening, a top notch dining experience, and a very attentive staff made our stay very special. And the hotel room was very nice. Upscale with a craftsman style attention to detail.
All in all, we felt very spoiled. We hope you have as great a time at The Ranch as we did!

Absolutely love this place. The beaches and hustle and bustle along the PCH are drowned out but only a 5 minute walk away. Just an absolutely serene setting in a wooded canyon. We stayed in a two bedroom unit as a family of four on this trip and the lodging was perfect and so very cozy. They have three different restaurants on the property, form the main restaurant which is always bustling, the laid back outdoor bar and grill which always had live music, and also the beach restaurant at Aliso Beach (run by the Ranch) can't be beat for brunch.
The staff couldn't be nicer here, everyone we interacted with was so genuine and warm.
This place is about a different style of luxury - it's not ostentations at all, more down to earth.
Perfect for a couples getaway or a family retreat. We look forward to coming back.

My daughter and I booked two nights here, but after our second night, we loved it so much we booked an additional 3 nights. The place is immaculate and the service is top notch. When we arrived, check in had pre assigned our room, so it was such a nice surprise to pull up and see our lovely situated room with two rocking chairs and such a lovely view and fresh decor. The pool and hot tub was amazing and we loved the outdoor area with music and fire pits, as well as the lovely Harvest restaurant.
To get to the beach you can just call and be escorted in a golf cart and you even receive beach chairs and an umbrella. We will definitely stay here again!!!!

Well the staff at the restaurant is rude, the food menu is very basic and lacks of options, and the food is not tasty. The harvest restaurant, the cafe at the beach, the deck restaurant and in room dining they all have same menu.
They took 50 mins to bring me fork and knife that I requested to my room.
The spa is very small, specially the locker room/ bathrooms, but the massages are good.
The 2 bedroom cottages are very noisy, they are not equipped with basic things like glasses or table wear or even tea. They should do better

No idea how this place has such a high review rating. The service, in general is good, and it does have a great location near the beach. However, the property itself is lacking. We stayed in a suite room and the walls and floors are paper thin. We could clear the conversations from the guests next to us and also all the clicking from someone walking around in the unit upstairs. The building that we stayed at was on the “creek side” ... it’s more like an irrigation dump. Truly. The buildings look like a camping site. The pool is small and outdated. Overall, the photos are very deceiving. This place needs a Major remodel. The only good thing about it was the food at their main restaurant.
