We picked this hotel due to the proximity to Knotts berry farm and other locations. We’re also a large family that needs a two bedroom unit with a kitchen. I agree with other reviews that there is not much nearby. Our days were full of activities. This was a perfect place to come back to at night to rest for the next day.
The room was spacious and clean. No issues with ants or bugs like other reviewers have mentioned.

This would not be a good place to stay without transportation. There are a few if any real amenities to speak of at the hotel. It’s not a resort. More like an apartment complex where units are rented out by Marriott. The staff was friendly and accommodating. The breakfast is not great but adequate. I would stay here again.

This Residence Inn was the old style type with separate buildings for each grouping of rooms. There was no elevator to reach the second floor for those rooms located on the building ends. This meant lugging our bags up to the second floor so keep this in mind if you have a lot of stuff.

We stayed in one of the renovated rooms but it was not up to the standards that I expected from Marriott. The room had new furnishings, wallpaper and smallish LG televisions. Initial thoughts were favorable. It changed over our stay especially in the bathroom where the door was still dinged up, tiles appeared to be originals with a bits of mold scattered around, tiles were reset in a haphazard manner and the ancient shower controls still in use. The pull out sofa had a really thin mattress and you could feel all the springs in your back. The TVs also stopped working for one night but since it was late we did not really care.

Breakfast was served in the lobby. The desk itself was updated but the rest of the room was still decorated in dark color carpets and furnishings. Not very inviting. Food area was a small room and contained juice maker, cereals, yogurt, one type of fresh fruit, scrambled eggs (likely powdered), two types of sausages, breads/bagels and outside on a table was the make your own waffle makers. The waffle makers worked but not the timer so I had to track the cooking time on my phone so I didn’t burn it.

Overall it’s close to the I5 (with a construction detour getting to the south entrance) but still has improvements to make before I consider staying here again.

I have stayed at the Residence Inn on several occasions. The staff is wonderful! The location is convenient to Biola University. However, there are numerous things that need attention-the dryers are broken, workout television monitors are down, carpets need cleaning, rooms need some deep cleaning (fans, closets, etc.). Some intense T.L.C. is required. I hope management decides that the investment is worth the effort.

This is a great property. The things I really appreciated: Quiet, Clean, great lobby w/ access to a computer and printer, Good options for breakfast, Good coffee (in the lobby all hours), parking right outside your unit, comfortable bed in the Bedroom, the Kitchen complete with Tea & Coffee & microwave popcorn. Also, ample storage in the bedroom for your things. The front desk staff was very friendly. I asked for a late check out on a weekday and they accommodated. The area was safe. Great place if you are traveling with a dog. Plenty of outdoor space/lawn to walk the dogs around, right outside your Room. Also, the carpets were pretty clean (white sock test).
Things to know to help plan and/or make your visit more enjoyable: The pull out couch is very uncomfortable. There is no lotion in the bathroom, so bring your own (The shampoo, conditioner and body wash are mounted bottles in the shower). If you have someone staying/sleeping in the 'living' room, there is no storage for their things and they have to go thru the bedroom to access the Bathroom. They will have to use the available storage in the Bedroom for their things. The property "offered" housekeeping upon check in, but none was every provided. I called the 2nd day to ask for clean towels at least. Called 2 times, morning and afternoon, and never received any. Finally I went to the Front Desk and got them myself. There are plenty of outside trash cans to dispose of larger items like take out containers.
The property has on-site laundry.
There are 2 great fast food options 1 block away ( In N Out and Chick-Fil-A) as well as
an excellent sit down restaurant 'Northwoods Inn'.
Overall this was a good place to stay for 2 adults and 1 teenager. The 1 Bedroom allows for separation of space as well as a kitchen, since we don't like to eat out every meal and appreciate being able to eat at any hour of the day.
I would stay here again when visiting the area.

Very very nice people with excellent service from the front desk to the breakfast helpers to all the maids. Thank you! Breakfast was top notch 5 stars all the way. Everyone was fabulous and they even allowed us a very late checkout of 1pm which was nice too. They have almost finished a very nice renovation and the rooms were very roomy with all kinds of amenities including kitchen and you name it. Plus there are many restaurants not too far away. Pool and spa open late which we love and heated nicely!!! Highly recommend staying here! Zero complaints. Perfecto!

I wanted to check out before I checked in. To be fair, I arrived during a time of renovation at this hotel so the extra construction and disarray did not help. But this is a sad little motel. For women traveling alone, note I said motel. The rooms are all with exterior doors. And it's loud. You hear the roar of I-5 which is right next to the hotel. As well as the early morning train. Everything reverberates, so you hear your neighbors very clearly, even when they aren't doing anything particularly loud. The pool looked dirty. The barbecue grills were dirty. The gym was dirty. The hotel shuttle was broken. But at least the rooms were passable. The mattress is encased in plastic, which is loud to sleep on. And points to previous problems. If you want an inexpensive hotel in the area, you can still do better than this Residence Inn. I moved over to the new Hampton Inn and I was SO glad that I did. All that said, the staff works hard to overcome the facility. They were uniformly cheerful, helpful, and eager to please.

My husband and I were traveling with my elderly parents and wanted a hotel with a 2-bedroom suite instead of traditional, separate rooms. This hotel provided exactly what we wanted! With a 2-bedroom suite, each couple had privacy [bedroom and bathroom] yet a common living area to watch TV and relax. A bonus was the hot breakfast buffet included with our rate; it was great!

The setup of the hotel is much like an apartment setting: several, individual buildings instead of one giant building. To me it felt more 'homey' this way.

The staff were extremely friendly and accommodating. Mom needed a bandaid and asked the front desk representative where she could get one, and he searched until he found one for her.

Going to breakfast on Sunday morning, I noticed a sign by the pool which informed guests of a non-denominational church service in one of the conference rooms. Very cool for travelers who wish to attend services. I only wish I had seen it a little earlier so I could have attended.

The location of the hotel is immediately adjacent to the highway which provided great access for our daytrips; so if you need a quality place to stay and aren't looking for lush surroundings, I highly recommend this hotel!

It's sad that this location carries the Marriott name. From the unclean room to the carpet lifting from the tile I can not find anything positive to say. Issues were brought to the attention of the office and a shrug of the shoulders and a sorry was it. Phone call and email were made and sent to the GM and no courtesy call or email back. If you want to waste your money and be in awe how this location carries the Marriott name then have at, but you have been warned. Will never return, will never recommend!

I am loyal to staying at Marriott branded hotels when I travel. I travel at least once a month throughout the year. This was the first time staying at this hotel in Buena Park. First of all, the hotel looked like an apartment complex. When I walked into my room, I was totally disappointed at the "1970's" decor. Old, old, old. About 11:30pm, I go to plug my cell phone up in the kitchen and what scurried across the counter? You guessed it; a ROACH! I was livid and immediately called the front desk. The clerk told me that someone would be there shortly. "Shortly" turned into 20 minutes. In walks the clerk with a can of RAID. She asks me where the roach is and I reply it is going in and out of the microwave. The clerk sprayed the counter with raid and then asked me if I was going to use the microwave. What!? Of course not manager was on site that night. The clerk took the microwave and threw it in the garbage can in front of my room. Needless to say, I could not sleep after that. I was constantly checking my luggage to make sure I would not be carrying any extra travelers home. I was getting dressed the next morning while talking to my husband on my cell and what did I see scurry across the kitchen wall? Another ROACH! I will never stay in this hotel again!!! the manager was totally embarassed and for good reason. She told me that they have a contract with a pest control company. I guess they didn't do there job before I checked in. I want to give Kudos to the manager who compensated me with Marriotts Rewards Points on my account (worth a free night with points to spare). I have traveled for my job for four years and have never had any kind of bugs in my hotel room. Stay here at your own risk.

Marriott should be embarrassed by this property. The lobby is dark and tawdry (although the desk clerk was very, very nice). The room was fine but I felt like I could be mugged at any time. Run down. Scratchy sheets. Do not do it.
