This is the eighth hot spring hotel I visited. The appearance of the hotel is really beautiful. I really like the food here. It's the Japanese feeling I like. Beds and rooms are also comfortable. The only sad thing is that the hot spring is not isolated and the body temperature drops in an instant, which is uncomfortable. On the contrary, hot springs in Switzerland are much hotter than here.

I would like to give some suggestions to this hotel. The food service of this hotel are excellent. However, I went with my friends in the winter and wanted to warm up my body with hot springs. The hot springs in this hotel are indoor and outdoor. I chose outdoor. But, the outdoor hot springs made my body cold and hot, and eventually I got sick with my friends. I think this hotel needs to have heat service at the outdoor hot spring.

Big, clean and comfortable. A, walking distance to convenience store 7-11. Quite enjoying. Having a good dinner in this hotel with fresh crab, variety dessert, many food to eat. Sleep in Tatami is enjoyable.

I love this hotel!! Well, everyone in my family does. The kids love sleeping on the tatami. Check in was a bliss. The lady doesn’t speak very good English but good enough for me to understand. I apparently paid extra booking on Agoda (for 4 adults, we are a family of 2 adults and 2 kids) but she wasn’t able to refund. Not her problems. She was really apologetic. We went to our room and it was super smelly (with cigarette smoke). I called up reception and they immediately came to assist me with the change of the room. I really appreciate that. I’d suggest to book directly at the website rather than via a third party booking site like Agoda. After settling down ourselves we walking to the Jikokudani (Hell Valley). It was very near and the walk was a pleasant one. We went for the buffet dinner after that and it was massive. Love the free flow steak. The crab was okay (I prefer grilled type). The draught Beer (extra charge) was really good. We went to the onsen twice. Once at night and again the next day early morn, so we get to try both the onsen. There are 2 levels of onsen and male and female take turns to use at different timing. I prefer the one at B2. The one at B1 doesn’t get much of a view. But the types of pools are similar. They have so so so many types of hot spring stop choose from ~ sulfur (my favourite), salt, iron acid (or was it acid iron? ), and many more. They provide Yukata of different sizes in the room, for kids size you have to call the reception. The toiletries at the onsen was superb. I bought the shampoo home! Horse oil shampoo. Makes my hair silky soft. Breakfast was so so. Limited as compared to the spread the night before and also to the other hotels we stayed. If I’m coming again to Noboribetsu, I’ll definitely stay here again! P/S: the hotel even provide a shuttle to Sapporo at a very small fee. U just need to book early. The ride was very comfortable

The hotel has 2 levels of onsen. Man and woman switch every half day. B2 onsen definitely nicer as the outdoor onsen is truely outdoor. We had a chance to experience onsen while snowing. What a wonderful experience. Highly recommend to go for Japanese style room.

Stayed there for two nights. Pros - very helpful to answer any questions asked with regards to the trip prior to booking - room is of good size - food for both buffet and set dinner is ok - location is good - a variety of Onsen Cons - food at buffet can be too cold (personally I do not enjoy cold food) should try to add in more hot food - had ordered a premium set dinner for both adults and kids. Was expecting to try puffer fish. Was informed prior to visit might not have it, as depending on season. What hotel can do better was inform me during my first night that there won’t be any puffer fish. I might just opt for the standard set dinner instead. - premium set dinner might not be valuable for kids. Mainly fried stuff and was prepared way in advance so food was cold except the soup dish. - Onsen too noisy with many tour grps. Overall, I might try other hotels in future for comparison.

Stayed at Mahoraba Noboribetsu in October. Our room is on 6th floor. The room is clean and large but the bathroom is quite small which is normal for most of the hotels in Japan. Ryukang bed was comfortable. Only drawback was once you stepped outside the room, smell of cigarette smoke was all over. There are 2 public onsen areas with different view. So at night time, men area will be at one area and women in the other. At day time, they are switched to make sure we can enjoy both views. The dinner buffet was great with varieties of food and seafoods. Trick is you have to pick the restaurant when you do a booking that it is not a restaurant for a tour group. The application will be in Japanese but you can fill in in English. Got to say The staff who welcomed us was super helpful and very nice. Very service-minded indeed. We arrived at noon on October 19th.

We booked the Japanese-Style Room for a night at Hotel Mahoroba with a very high expectation (as it was over 33,000 yen per night!). However, the whole experience was a huge disappointment. First of all, Hotel Mahoroba is definitely not a "ryokan" experience - the staffs were cold and rude while checking-in. They would not even greet you back when you saw them. The whole experience was unwelcoming. Second, Hotel Mahoroba definitely needs a big renovation - all the facilities, including the onsen bath, and rooms were very old and worn-out. The AC in the room did not even work! Third, we have been upgraded to dine at the "higher-class" buffet restaurant Green Terrence with all-you-can-eat crabs. The crabs were frozen and definitely not fresh. The hot foods were also just tasted like a cheap buffet from a school cafeteria. You will get better food from a convenience store! Last but not least, the public bath onsen was just okay (given that it was the only reason we visited Noboribetsu). The place was worn-out and if you are a guy - you would probably never be able to enjoy the nicer and larger onsen since the nicer B2 level was only open for men from 4AM to 9AM. If you want a nice ryokan experience, Hotel Mahoroba is definitely not your choice. If you want a nice onsen experience, Hotel Mahoroba is also not your choice. If you want a relex experience, Hotel Mahoroba is never your choice - they would force you to check out at 10AM!

Hotel stay could have been alot better. Firstly the pillows were a nightmare to begin with and the most drastic thing was the toilet was filled with pee smell I can understand if it's old. But having the odor actually turns u off a great deal. Why is it having 3 stars are because of the friendly staffs attitude and the variety of onsen pools it offers.

It’s a raining day, I saw the service staff at the hotel and greeted me at the door with a smile. It was really touching! What is commendable is that many staff in the counter and lobby are friendly and politely. For tourists, the hotel counter can provide detailed and rich information, which is really a great helpful. Thank you very much for the friendly answers and services of the counter staff. The hot spring of the hotel is the biggest hot spring in Japan. It’s really good. The dinner was quite good, the room was a little old, but everything was quite satisfactory.
