Detailed Reviews
Menu great and service is fast and friendly. The cook was able to adapt to my very specific dietary needs with no issue. The atmosphere is not very cozy but very clean and the view from the windows on the water are amazing. Saw large jellyfish from the deck.

What a lovely restaurant that we went to for breakfast. It is right on the water and the food and service was excellent. Suzie was our waitress, and she was warm and friendly. Down the road we stopped and bought some self-serve potatoes and carrots. The gentleman we chatted with there was great. He talked about the area and even offered us some cod to cook up. He invited us in for coffee too. These Newfoundlanders are the friendliest people. They have time for people and love their province.

We spent one night here and it was awful...When you check in you are given an information sheet that says the pub can be noisy at night, and no refunds will be given (you pay full amount upon check-in). We figured that since it was a Tuesday evening in a small town, it wouldn't be too bad...Boy were we wrong! The pub was full all night, with loud music until 2:00AM, then when the pub finally closed, the patrons headed onto the deck out behind the pub and someone decided to blast the music from their truck (right outside our room)...The men's washroom must have been on the other side of our room, as we could hear loud voices and what must have been the paper towel dispenser all night too. Needless to say, we did not get very much sleep...Besides the noise, the room was not that nice, there was still coffee in the pot leftover from the previous guests, and a toothpick on the floor right next to the bed. The tourism guide said that there was a continental breakfast provided in the room, which must have been the coffee and tea that was available...No food, and the restaurant did not open until 11:00AM. If you don't mind the noise, it would be an ok place to stay, but I would not recommended this motel for a good night's sleep!

We have stayed in Many Hotels, motels, cabins during our excursions. always find gems in out of the way places. BUT NOT THIS ONE. We had to Pay in advance, was told it may get a little noisy but it will stop at 12 midnight, from the pub. It was Noisy the whole night. I did not like sleeping on cheap sheets with a Plastic Mattress cover, pillows were flat, 2 towels in the bathroom that were like sandpaper, The lamp was broken, the bulb was actually broken in pieces. The dust and cobwebs were unreal. The free Continental breakfast was not offered. The room was Dirty! I could go on but am Glad we only spent the one night. As for the dining room and the uncooked french fries and surly waitress, another story in itself. When we needed to check out(as fast as we could. There was no one there!

The motel bar was very noisy. You had to pay up front and then were provided with a sheet indicating the bar could be noisy until midnight but it was closer to 2 am before it got quiet. If there are other alternatives, consider them first!

I highly recommend King's Point Motel. I've been there many times and have always left happy. Lots of renovations in the last few years and it looks great. The rooms are cosy and very clean and the service in the diner and pub was fast and friendly. It's the food that will bring you back. Delicious home-style grub at ridiculously low prices that are not even comparable to the Vancouver Island prices that we are used too. My mouth is watering remembering the squid rings and the home-fries with fried onions, dressing and gravy. They make a pretty killer White Russian in the pub to if you are so inclined. My last trip I took part in a Screech In of two American guests in which all the the staff and customers took part and we had local boys singing and play guitar all evening. An all around nice place to stay.

I chose this motel because it was mentioned on the web page of the fantastic gallery (King's Point Pottery - see separate review), which was the reason for our visit to this area. I recommend that if you visit King's Point, you stay somewhere else. If you've read any of my other reviews you'll know I'm not a prima donna about my accommodations, but this place left me kind of speechless. The restaurant wasn't open the night we were there (granted, early in the season, but isn't that the kind of thing they should warn you about when there aren't many other places open to eat?) Our room at the back of the motel featured a ramshackle collection of mismatched furniture and we actually had to pay an extra $5 or $6 for our "in-room continental breakfast!" This included instant oatmeal and instant coffee, but I had to unplug the TV and move around some furniture in order to be able to plug in the provided kettle. The "stairs" to our room were pre-fab concrete that I don't think were ever high enough to get to the door, and they were crumbling as we stepped on them. I anticipate a lawsuit for the motel by the end of the season if they don't fix those. (See photo.) The men's urinal in the adjoining bar/lounge was running on for several hours and was very loud, but when my husband went over to the bar to ask about fixing it, he got no satisfaction. Sure, the room appeared clean and it was fairly cheap, but it was definitely not good value, and I couldn't get out of there fast enough in the morning.

Response from KingsPointMotel, Owner at King's Point Motel, Diner & Pub
Responded 20 Feb 2014
I want to express my sincere apologies for your bad experience. Since purchasing the Motel approximately 5 years ago we have been working very hard to upgrade our facilities and enhance our customer experience. Shortly after your visit, in the summer of 2012, we replaced all the decks and steps on our building and now have 2 large decks for outdoor entertaining. Our Dining Room has had a total renovation and our guest rooms have been upgraded. I understand your frustration and regret that I did not have the opportunity to address your issues at the time of your stay. If you choose to visit our area again in the future I would like to invite you too contact myself (Lorie) in regards to any way we can attempt to compensate for our past issues.
