Since it’s so difficult to get taxis in Niseko, renting a car for yr stay there is a must and good tip to note. As such, there’s no real need to ski in and ski out, especially when those accommodations are incredibly expensive. A far better and smarter choice is to stay in a nice and well-appointed apartment like SNOWDOG,where there’s easy access to all parts of the village and there’s even a nice restaurant right on the ground floor of the building . Highly recommended for value for money .
We had 3 days skiing in Niseko and stayed at the Snow Dog apartments. We had a 2 BR apartment (actually 2 interconnecting rooms) which were lovely and had all the mod-cons including a full kitchen. Snow Dog has a complimentary shuttle bus from the apartments to the nearby ski fields and the main town which was easy. Basically a bus every hour from 8am through to very late.
From bookings to check out, excellent service all the way. Once we received our booking (done stupidly via booking.com instead of their website), Terry (our vacation consultant from SkiJapan) emailed us to arrange transportation and to give us an idea what to expect. Even though we decided to arrange our own transport from the airport to Niseko, SkiJapan provided a transfer from the drop off point to Snow Dog for free. Our room was on the ground floor, with ski racks just in front of the door where our rented ski gears (done through 3rd party instead of SkiJapan) were all there ready for us. Top notch kitchen and laundry appliances. Plenty of forks, spoons, bowls and pans. They do not provide cooking ingredients, but you can get that from downtown. Netflix on TV for my mom who…
Snow dog is modern, convenient, comfortable and most of all peaceful. If you are looking to enjoy family time in beautiful snowy surrounding, this is definitely a great choice. Not far from Hirafu for those in needs of nightlife and/or skiing there.
Our 2-bedroom apartment is immaculate. Fully equipped kitchen can use some English instructions on dishwasher and the stove. Only took a few minutes to figure out the knobs. We definitely will consider staying here shall go back yo Niseko.
