The place is amazing. Lidia takes care of everything and she knows how to run the posada in a calm and friendly way. It was the house she grown up in. Rooms are comfy, clean and quiet. And Lidia also serves you the breakfast.
The owner and her family live in this beautiful stone house, really a small cosy stately home, on the outskirts of Santillana. There is private parking in front of the house for half a dozen cars.. Our hostess was charming, intelligent and helpful. Although the weather was cold and wet, our room was cosy, warm and well equipped. It was spacious and the double bed comfortable and firm. There were even reading lights and an electric kettle, which are rare in accommodation in Spain and Portugal. The bathroom was modern and clean, with plenty of hot water for a shower. Internet was good. The breakfast room is modern, light and airy. The walls within the house are adorned with interesting items – lovely needlepoint tapestries, old photographs, medieval pictures in relief, all fascinating to peruse as in a small private museum. We will stay there again if we can.…
the recent reviews are spot on, charming B and B with relaxing atmosphere. The location is a few minutes drive into the town where the car parking is moderately priced; (compared with UK).Do not be put off by the owner speaking no English, she can get by if you have a little patience or a couple of words in Spanish. Others mention the value of breakfast but the whole package offers very good value.I fully recommend that you stay and I would love to return if we are in the region again.
Very nice property with enough parking out front. Clean and family run, with good sized rooms and nice bathrooms. Breakfast is very good. It is about a 20 minute walk into the old town / restaurants etc. At night, some of the dead quiet streets are quite dark. Driving in/out is bit of a challenge given the narrow roads, but that is not for a great distance. A good overall experience.
Loved the setting, the comfort, the hospitality. Hotel style comfort at a bargain price. The price does not include breakfast which is another 4 euros. I have read reviews saying the breakfast is limited but it does include a range of breads, cheese, cakes, jams, pates and two cereals. Toast and drinks are made freshly for you. Breakfast can be taken, very leisurely until after 11am. There is a £1 honesty fridge in the dining room which holds beers, juices, water. There is a lovely garden with seating to enjoy. A bright lounge area overlooks the garden. It is close to the Altamira cave and a twenty minute walk into beautiful Santillana del Mar with many bars, restaurants, shops and medieval buildings. We only stayed two nights but I wish we had stayed longer. Would definitely recommend this to friends.…
Located in a quiet area within easy walking distance of the town. Clean and comfortable with excellent bathroom. We would have preferred a duvet rather than sheets but that is personal preference. Very pleasant hostess and on site parking. Well sign posted from the town and the road. A good selection of restaurants and bars in the town. Most eateries stayed open until around midnight for meals.
This clean, friendly house is a fifteen minute walk from either Santillana or Altamira, so if you're the walking type, it's a great location for visiting the area. Lydia is a welcoming host, but to be sure, this is her house and she lives here with her family, which means there are kids and grandparents around, with all of the joys and noises that accompany them. Our room was spotless; the breakfast generous. We'd stay here again.
This is a family run hotel. The owner doesn't speak English so lots of miming had to take place. It's off the beaten track but well worth finding. Our room was spotlessly clean, very Spanish. Breakfast had a limited choice. Private parking. Santillana del Mar is about 1km away but worth visiting this beautiful town.
My husband and I stayed at this Inn (which is more like a Rural House) for three nights while we visited Santillana del Mar and its surrounding. It was so nice returning here in the evening after a day of driving and sightseeing. We had a wonderful and amazing experience with Lidia and her family. She was kind, pleasant, great pastry maker and a wonderful hostess. Breakfast was very inexpensive and highly recommended. Our room was on the top floor, the attic. It was just gorgeous, very large with plenty of room to move about, a nice round table and plenty of closet space. The small window, offered a beautiful view of the mountains and cows grazing during the day. The bathroom was large and well equipped. Everything was spotless! The bathtub tiles were shining white. The house itself is beautiful, where we were able to sit down late at night and watch TV or talk to Lidia about our day. There is plenty of ample parking and the grounds were well maintained as well. The house is located within a 10/15 minute walk from the center of town. Lidia showed us a shortcut through back roads. The WIFI works the best in the common areas since the house is made of stone and sometimes the signal didn't make it all the way upstairs. But, it was no issue at all. We were truly lucky to have spent 3 wonderful nights here. Gracias Lidia desde Nueva York.…
We stayed in Posada Herran for two nights while visiting Santillana del Mar and its surroundings. The inn is located 15 minutes away by foot from the historic town. Rooms are very clean and cozy. There is a nice backyard with a small playhouse for children. It is also where the breakfast is served. Lidia, the woman that runs the house, was very friendly and helpful. She gave us a lot of information about Santillana and things to do nearby. The breakfast is not included and costs 3.5€, totally worth it. The only negative point is that credit cards are not accepted, which I think is not acceptable nowadays especially in such a tourist place like Santillana del Mar. All in all, we had a very pleasant stay and recommend the hotel. We will stay here again if we visit this area in the future.…
