#4 of 39 Speciality lodging in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
As the only concessionaire luxury camp within Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, Sanctuary Gorilla Forest Camp is the perfect base from which to track the park's most famous resident - the mountain gorilla. The main area features a comfortable lounge and bar area as well as the main dining area while the mini spa offers a wide selection of treatments. Located within the National Park, Sanctuary Gorilla Forest Camp offers guests an unrivalled location, including the best bird and wildlife viewing in the Bwindi area. In fact Sanctuary Gorilla Forest Camp often receives regular visits from the gorillas themselves. For the lucky guests in camp at those times, they may have the chance for a gorilla encounter without even leaving Sanctuary Gorilla Forest Camp. The eight tents at Sanctuary Gorilla Forest Camp are stylish and spacious, each featuring two queen sized beds. In addition to the comfortable warm beds, each tent has a huge bathtub that looks straight into the jungle canopy ideal for soaking tired muscles after a day spent observing and meeting gorillas. Observe rare forest species while soaking in the tub, followed by a cocktail on the private viewing deck served by your personal attendant.

Our trip to the GFC began with our pick-up from the Kihihi airstrip by Moses who would be our driver and guide for the duration of our stay. Moses exemplified the type of service that we received at GFC. He was kind, hospitable, and committed to doing everything he could to make our experience unforgettable. The resort is located inside the Bwindi National park. It is something to be able to stay inside a world heritage site. The “tent” we stayed in was both luxurious and well appointed and each tent is situated so that you feel like your tent is the only one in the camp. The views are incredible and we were greeted by monkeys right at our porch on our first evening. We went on two gorilla treks and the experience of being in such close proximity to such incredible animals is difficult to put into words. In addition, we went on the hike to Munyaga Falls which was beautiful and a good warm up for the trekking. We also the community walk to visit the Batwa people. I can not recommend this enough, they are an extraordinary people. Each evening, we would return to camp to be greeted at the bar by Simon, who took such great care of us. We would then sit around the fire under stars while Warren played his handmade harp. All of this was followed by a delicious multi-course dinner along with African wine. I can’t thank the staff enough for providing us with an experience we will never forget. I hope I get the opportunity to come back.

Can’t think of any better place to experience gorilla trekking. Staff is as warm and friendly and helpful as could be. As mentioned in a previous post the location is ideal for the start of your treks. The cabins are very comfortable and the showers really hot, which is great on a cool day after a hike. At night, you will get into a nice toasty bed heated with an electric blanket. This is a huge plus as most people we spoke to staying at other lodges were given hot water bottles. Adam took care of our room and contributed greatly to our experience, especially going out of his way to get our laundry back the same day if needed. Cleaning our hiking boots was included. I have no doubt the service would be the same whoever was taking care of you. Lunch, water, backpack, and a hiking stick are provided for the treks. Massages are available for weary muscles. Various options for breakfast are offered as well as a delicious 3 course dinner. They have an excellent chef. The South African wines they poured were quite good and they made margaritas that would make Mexico proud.

Dropped in to take a peek only. My tax man should not think for one moment that I can afford to stay here. A well laid out place with the tents dotted across the hillside. Neatly arranged you will think yours is the only tent. Full attention was paid to detail in the high quality finishes and specs. What drew me first to the Lodge was the very special logo. Then the specially crafted trekking poles with the gorilla motif. Maybe one day

We loved our 5 day stay. Such a convenient location to be in the park itself. We can eat breakfast and leave for the orientation for the gorilla trek in 3 minutes. The best view of all the rooms is the longest/highest trek up which is room 10. They have safety protocols to keep guests safe. Staff were always wearing their masks. They checked our temperatures upon arrival. Food was always good, and packed lunch for gorilla trekking was sufficient. It came with a choice of sandwhich, quiche, a chocolate bar, nuts, muffin and a box of juice. Most of these we ended up sharing with our porters. The staff made our stay extra special. Michael made sure our rooms were always clean, along with our clothes and boots. Sharon and Simon made sure we had adequate refills of our cocktails, and made sure we were well fed. They prepared something special during my birthday. It was a nice surprise. Moses was our driver/guide drove us around during our stay. Thank you. We hope to be back in the future

This place has been our best splurge in years. Worth every penny. The service, the food, the views, the ambiance, the comfort.. not enough good things can be said about our stay here. The bed has a warmer, use it. We are both vegetarians and the staff did their very best to accommodate us. If you plan to have a luxurious stay in Bwindi, this is the place to be. The little touches like free laundry service (having been to countless destinations around the world, this is the only resort we found this service) and the bubble bath that the staff drew up after our gorilla trek was much appreciated. It was just what we needed. Kudos to the amazing thoughtful team for making our stay unforgettable!
