Detailed Reviews
We stayed in Petra moon hotel for 2 nights and honestly we loved everything about it. 3 min walk to the Petra Entrance, 5 min drive to local shops and restaurants. Breakfast from 6:30am and you can be at Petra gate around 8am before all tours from Amman and Dead Sea arrive. Check out is by 12pm which is generous in my opinion. They sell tickets to Visit Petra at night too although for family of 4 could be pricy for some as it’s not included in Jordan pass.
Breakfast and dinner are delicious and although the area is small, everyone found something nice to eat for themselves. I loved their shawarma wraps at the dinner time and preferred porridge for breakfast which they didn’t offer at the time of our stay.
Be aware that serving area is very small so it’s best to come early or late to avoid crowding.
Check out was the quickest we experienced during our 2 weeks in Jordan and everyone working there are hard working and lovely to talk to.
Cleaners did great job cleaning our room and providing more coffee for me than we had in our room.
Our room 315 didn’t have a balcony but having large windows facing Petra entrance made our stay pleasant.
Don’t forget to visit 5th floor with large terrace area with medium size pool ( not heated in October ). I spent a half a day there with my kids in a beautiful weather (24C) and nice views.
Thank you everyone at the Petra Moon Hotel. I will highly recommend this hotel to everyone.

I stayed 2 nights at the Petra Moon Hotel. Their staff was professional and friendly and I really enjoyed their breakfast buffets. My fare included included drinks and snacks from the room’s mini bar which was a really nice treat to come back to after a long day of walking around at Petra.
My room was very clean but a little small in terms of space but I think that’s to be expected given the area. I was glad to stay near the entrance of Petra as I didn’t have a car and the last thing I wanted to do after trekking around for 6 hours inside Petra was to walk uphill to where most of the other hotels were located. I suppose one could pay for a taxi but I was quite happy with the decision. The location can’t be beat unless you want to pay double for the Movenpick hotel that is across the street which I’m sure offers maybe a little more space for the additional cost. I read comments about hearing dogs barking and that is true but I suspect that might be the case in any of the places you stay around here.
Overall, I was very pleased with my stay at Petra Moon Hotel and would not hesitate to stay here again.

From the moment we pulled up to the hotel, we felt that this place was going to be great. Someone met us at the door, helped us carry our luggage, and parked our car. After checking in, we were welcomed with a mammoul (date-filled cookie) and tea. The room was spotless and was spacious enough for our family of 5, including three teenage boys. The room was already set up with the extra bed we asked for, and five bath towels, which rarely happens even in nicer hotels. We decided to eat our first meal at the hotel restaurant, and were not disappointed. The traditional Jordanian meal was delicious. The breakfast was also very impressive; so much food that we could not possibly taste it all: made-to-order omelettes and pancakes, an assortment of hot dishes, fruit, yogurt, pastries, breads, cold cereal, cold cut meat and cheese... just incredible. The moment we were done, we were already looking forward to breakfast the next morning.
As other reviewers said, the hotel is conveniently located right by the entrance to Petra, just across the street. Staying close to the park allowed us to beat the crowds and be onsite as soon as it opened.
The hotel is managed with pride. I highly recommend Petra Moon Hotel to anyone coming to Petra.

We visited in February. The location of the hotel is fantastic. Less than 3 mins walk from the entrance to Petra. The hotel is currently being expanded and whilst parts of the surroundings look like a building site, it is fair to say that we were never bothered by any construction noise.
The rooms are decently sized and nicely done up. The main issue with the place is the service. It is hit and miss at times. This is especially noted during breakfast. The staff would be conspicuous by their absence at times, with us having to get up to go and fetch our teas and coffees rather than being served for example.
Housekeeping was a bit slow and erratic too. On one day the room was not cleaned until near 5pm and only after we told the cleaners that they had forgotten to do so. On another day they forgot to replace our towels.
A bit more care would make this hotel even better.

+1
My brother and I spent 2 nights here. The positive side is that it is very close to the entry to Petra, the negative side is the large amount of construction going on right now. 2 large hotels are being built next door. Our room was 403. The next door sites were still tossing around rebar at 11:30pm. Then at 6AM the cement trucks arrived, honking horns to get someone's attention. The Petra Moon hotel itself is now undergoing major changes, with a complete addition being constructed that looks to double the size. Here the jackhammers started at 8am, and stopped at 5pm 1 door down from our room. I honestly wish we had booked a room further from the Petra entrance and just taken a cab in so I could get solid rest.

Response from SamirNwa, Manager at Petra Moon Hotel
Responded 6 Feb 2020
Dear valued Guest, Thank you for your comments regarding construction work at the hotel. Whilst we cannot control the work being carried out at other sites in the area, our builders are only allowed to work between 9.00am - 5.00pm. We are very sorry for any disturbance or inconvenience caused to our guests but we anticipate work will be completed by 1 March. If guests have any concerns we would ask that they contact our Reception staff who will do their best to assist them. Best wishes Samir Petra Moon Hotel

The location of this hotel is unbeatable, Of course, that makes the hotel a bit expensive but worth every penny. We loved the friendly crew, their attention to details and hospitality. Example, after checking out, we left our luggage at the front desk to spend the all day walking inside Petra. We came back to the hotel around 530pm to pick up our luggage and even though we were not technically staying their, we were offered tea and cookies. It's a simple thing to do but most hotels don't do that. Excellent Breakfast buffet, don't miss it.

Given the hotel's location within three minutes walking distance to the entrance of the Petra archeological site it is already great value for money. Added to this, the hotel boasts a very clean interior and very modern facilities. Staff is very polite. There is a great selection for breakfast.

Conveniently located- within walking distance to Petra park's entrance. It was a great choice as walking around Petra can be exhausting. The Reception Staff was attentive. The view from the rooftop area offered great panoramic view of the Petra area. The 2 bedded room was nice and clean. It was sufficient, as we were only there for one night. If the weather was warmer, I'm sure hanging out at the rooftop pool would have been an amazing experience.
After an exhausting trek at Petra, we were happy the Seraj Restaurant offered such delicious array of food. Nidal, the Restaurant Manager, was very kind and attentive ensuring we eat the best local dishes they offered such as the Fish Sayadeya. Even the waitstaff was friendly. The one that comes to mind is Adam as he was practicing his Chinese (Mandarin) with us. Funny guy.
The Executive Chef, Othman, was walking around ensuring everyone was enjoying his food. He even recommended us to try the Chicken Muskhan which was made freshly in front of us. Sooo delicious! Even the Breakfast options are on par.

The Movenpick was closed so we chose the Petra Moon Hotel, situated just in front of the Petra Visitor Center, the entrance point for the Petra sites. We were not expecting much: just another bedraggled 3 star trying to survive in a COVID new normal. Rather, Petra Moon exceeded all our expectations: the service was attentive; the food was excellent and generously portioned; the rooms and lobby were clean and at least 4 star, almost 5 star. Coming off a four day hike from Wadi Rum, we asked for dinner for 4 to be sent up to our room and were given a huge platter fit for 8 people. All our extra requests were also satisfied, from little things like a dish of olive oil for moisturizing to ordering a car for our return to Amman. Highly recommended hotel.

Rooms are Large and very clean. Location is very central to the entrance to Petra and there are bars and restaurants nearby.
The buffet was superb, a wide range of foods, some cooked to order, during our two days there both dinner and breakfast were changed up so that you could have something different each day.
We had our laundry done while there and although not cheap it arrived back looking brand new and was professionally packaged.
Friendly staff, this hotel is a must stay if visiting Petra.
