The place cannot be beaten. It is one of the rarest hotels I have stayed at. Built at an actual village, the place is magical.

Services is excellent and it is serene, and air of calmness and history combined.

The restaurant left a bit to be desired. I ended up stocking up on food in Wadi Musa before going back to have dinner.

I liked the village layout -- supposed to be renovated Bedouin village. The electric plugs are English (UK) but you can get an adapter to use from the front desk. No wifi in the rooms, but the lobby has it with nice places to sit, and the large restaurant also has wifi. The food was buffet style and tasted good, but it seemed to be kept lukewarm instead of hot. The rooms are large with nice views. The heated swimming pool is a treat, as are the pretty gardens. There are screens on the windows so you can open up the windows and enjoy the night air. I gave it 4 stars because I liked the different kind of charming atmosphere and the friendliness of the staff. Stayed 3 nights.

We only stayed one night at this venue arriving late evening to lovely apartments, and in time for menu dinner which was also lovely. The staff were also friendly and very helpful. The apartments are quite roomie and the bathroom is very well presented. The location is more than ideal if travellers are intending to visit the Ancient city of Petra.😊

I was really impressed and excited about this place. What a great idea! The hotel is constructed as a turkish village actually, where the name Beit Zaman comes from. So you walk a lovely village where every little house is in fact a hotel room. One of them is yours. The walls in your rooms are made of stones and wood. The pool was superb. The staff was friendly. The meals (both breakfast and dinner) were delicious and offered a wide range of plates.

Do not ever go there in a wheelchair.

When I arrived at the gate of the hotel I learned hotel had been closed for 2 weeks by the time I made my reservation. It took some doing but TripAdvisor got me placed in another hotel. But check that this hotel is open before booking. There was not even a note on the gate about the closure and what to do.

We had booked 2 rooms at Beit Zaman resort in Petra, Jordan, through Agoda, for the period from 29/dec/13 to 1/Jan/14 and had paid the whole amount.
On 26th Dec. we were reconfirmed by Agoda that our bookings at Beit Zaman is confirmed.
However when we reached Beit Zaman hotel from Dead Sea on 29 Dec; our reservation vouchers were not honored, the Manager of the hotel told us that our booking has been transferred to Taybet Zaman. The Manager even told that he is not concerned about what voucher we are carrying since he has already informed the status to Agoda and he can not help. The Manager even told us blunt that this is not his problem that Agoda has informed us otherwise.
We were then transferred to Taybet Zaman, which is far away from the city centre. Although the hotel claims to be 5 star category; it can not even be ranked as any star.
Request everyone to think twice before booking this hotel, suggest to stay in Petra Guest Hose, Movenpick or Crwne Plaza (if it reopens, it is presently closed for renovation)

Without being repetitive, bad: service, food, amenities, and to top it off, the bathroom was very very dirty. When I complained, they did not respond. It was like a flea bag from the '50's back in the US

Hotel is built somewhat like a village - meandering walkways to your suite. Hotel is perched rather high up on the hillside so most suites ( I assume ) have a great view of the Petra valley and town down below as ours did. Wifi is only in the lobby and unfortunately for the 3 days that we were there, the system was down the entire 3 days. Heated indoor pool was great . Bathroom facilities were wonderful, kind of a weird shower config but water pressure was good and lots of hot water. Front desk service was quick. Our evening dinners were eaten out in the town but we did avail ourselves of the breakfast buffet which was excellent.

I completely agree with this review: No internet in the rooms, only in the lobby, worst food I have ever had, its all processed, the front desk start out as a nice guy and was replaced at 4:00 PM by a man that was so rude he yelled at my driver. Some of the rooms are remodeled and some aren't I was changed no less then 6 times and still It was impossible to get a double bed with one mattress and not two twin pushed together. I vote stay somewhere else. the lobby looks nice the architecture is nice but the rooms, food and service are awful. It was so bad I wrote a letter. No one was at the hotel... it was empty.

This hotel in Petra was booked for us, as we were travelling as part of a large group, and I couldn't be happier with this hotel choice. As soon as we got off our bus I was enthralled. The hotel was actually a village, so the complex is spread out nicely with paved paths leading through gardens to guest rooms. It was a refreshing change to the high rise hotels. The buildings have been made from thick stone from the area and the whole complex exudes character. You have to walk outside to get from your room to the other parts of the hotel, so you get to breathe in the fresh air, look at the stars at night, see the magnificent vista before you, you get to slow down and appreciate this part of the world. If you are visiting Petra, this hotel for me, was the perfect extension to the wonders of Petra. The hotel is situated on top of a ridge and the views across the valley are absolutely beautiful. Get up at sunrise and you will see the light play on the mountains in front of you.
My room was huge and it was more like a suite. The bedroom was in a separate area with an arched entry way. There was a lounge room, big enough to invite friends over for a drink before dinner. The bathroom was also spacious, with lovely bath products. The walls of the guest rooms are very thick, made from stone, so the temperature inside remains cool. The interior is tastefully decorated and you do get the feeling that you are a guest in what once was a village, it really was special. There are no swipe keys here. Each guest room has a wooden door, and a big old fashioned key to open it. Some guests did find the door and key a little hard to open, but the trick is to turn the key slowly.
After a full day exploring the wonders of Petra, I can't begin to tell you what a welcome relief it was to swim in the large undercover heated pool at the hotel. It was pure bliss.
Internet is available at Reception, and there are comfortable lounges there. You can also pick up wifi in some areas in the dining room. The walls are too thick for wifi in your room.
Please be aware that Petra is almost in the middle of nowhere. So you are not going to get your huge buffet breakfast spread here. The wait staff, who are extremely polite and attentive, told me that the food is sourced locally. So what is on offer is seasonal and fresh. You can get your eggs cooked exactly how you want them, and what is on offer is plentiful, you won't starve.
There is also a shop at the front of the complex, with a lovely selection of items to take home. The prices are comparable if not a little cheaper than the souvenir shops in town. The owner of the store is very helpful, courteous and not pushy. You can browse without getting hassled, which was also very much appreciated.
One night whilst walking to dinner, I got a little worried as I heard what sounded like gun shots in the distance. I asked the staff about this. They grinned from ear to ear and told me that this was a wedding. The wedding guests then let off fireworks ( and guns ) for prosperity. It is a tradition. Good to know.
Other reviewers have stated that Beit Zaman is not 5 star, but what it is, is a unique and charming hotel, which offers it's guest the unique experience of staying at a beautiful location that was once a village.
Staying here was an amazing experience that will compliment your visit into ancient Petra. I am so happy we stayed here, I wish our group had more than two nights. I will just have to come back again. Thank you to all the staff for making our time in Petra so wonderful.
