Nestled near the ancient wonders of Petra, the Petra Marriott Hotel offers travelers a blend of opulence and tradition, with many praising its ideal location and the stunning views it provides. While the rooms are celebrated for their cleanliness and comfort, some visitors have noted that the decor feels a bit dated and have mentioned occasional noise issues. Although opinions on value vary, with some guests finding rates steep, the quality of service and amenities—ranging from diverse dining options to luxurious facilities—consistently earn high marks for enhancing guests' experiences.

We had heard that this hotel wasn't great but that wasn't our experience at all. All of the staff we came into contact with were friendly and helpful, the duty manager spoke to everyone each evening. We were impressed.

The hotel is a little way outside of Petra perched on a hill with the most amazing view. If you are not travelling as part of a tour they offer a shuttle bus to Petra so the location is not an issue.

It isn't the newest of properties and that shows in places - but it is very clean and the bed very comfortable. We ate in the bar area and in the Middle Eastern restaurant (not buffet) and found the food to be very good.

My only suggestion I would make is that they promote that they offer a packed lunch menu. The food inside Petra is either very expensive or very basic. We wished we had known that they offered a packed lunch as we certainly would have taken them up on the offer.

Marwan and his team really provide some warm, excellent hospitality - his service in particular is one of the best I have ever experienced from a hotel manager, but the hotel itself doesn't meet the high standards expected of a Marriott property. I would have to agree with a previous reviewers concerns here. Firstly, the property itself is rather tired, Marriott needs to invest more money into it to improve furnishings and the ambience of the buffet restaurant which is frankly terrible. We arrived for a new year's eve celebration and were very disappointed with the experience. The quality of the food was very poor. You really need a new head chef. The lobster wasn't cooked properly and the mansaf dish, the rice was overcooked. The offerings were very poor.

The hala hala restaurant is a bit better as you would expect but still misses the mark. Ingredients could taste a lot fresher.

The views from the hotel are spectacular and it is a good place to rest after Petra.

The spa area is very impressive. The Turkish loofah experience is excellent and made us feel very relaxed. But even here, the lack of clear instructions from the therapists made it rather odd.

The new year's eve party itself was awful apart from the excellent belly dancer! It was in a small room with chairs with a DJ playing inappropriately loud music. Then at new year's everything turned off for a minute after which the staff proceeded to burst all the balloons creating an avalanche of noise! Really terrible. The worst new years eve party ever! Come on Marriott, we would expect better than this from you. We will try the Kempinski hotel brand in the future.

Lastly, the driver provided by Marriott, Abdullah, was unreliable and didn't understand English properly. We felt very let down by him. He promised to drive us to Wadi Rum after making us cancel our existing transfer, then offered an alternative driver who we could not trust sufficiently. He caused us a lot of stress, which was unfortunate and unnecessary.

This is a small Marriott 8 story Hotel, Like all hotels in Jordan You must go through a metal detector and security to enter the hotel. If you want to charge to your Room You must provide a credit card at check in. Being a Marriott hotel it provides all the amenities you are used to as an American. The breakfast is very good but not exceptional. We had the buffet for dinner but were rather disappointed in the flavors of the food, The hotel is very convenient to the UNESCO Petra site.

The checkin was very friendly, smooth and the staff made us all feel very welcome. The room keys were provided swiftly and the team ensured we have been given all information about the tours available. They also organized tickets to Petra at the hotel reception.

The rooms were extremely clean, disinfected and they even left a card to confirm touch-points that have been disinfected such as light switches etc.

The dinner arrangement is an experience not to be missed as they offer traditional meals which are cooked in very authentic ways ‘underground’. The sunset before dinner followed by sumptuous dinner and accompanied by live traditional music makes the even worthwhile.

If you are looking for a pleasant, comfortable stay in Petra then look no further as this is the only highly recommended spot.

This hotel is situated on the cliff which provides guests with great view of the canyon, especially during sunset. At night time, you can have a traditional meal in speciality restaurant where they cook the food in the ground. They also have a singer singing traditional Arabic music. It was wonderful.

If you are interested in Petra by night (Mon, We’d, Thu only), you can buy the ticket at the reception (cash only). You can also have transportation to the Petra visitor center (Petra by night entrance) by the hotel if you want to avoid traffic and the hassle of looking for parking.

The staff are nice, especially Reda who was so kind to show us the process of making sand-in-glass art.

The breakfast was okay. The staff was very nice nonetheless.

The rooms are not that big unless you are staying at a suite.

Tips:
If you plan to walk the entire path between Petra visitor center and Little Petra and see all the major attractions the easier way (i.e. avoid walking up thousands of steps to the Monastery and to Little Petra), you can arrange a transfer with the hotel or take a taxi to Little Petra. Then pay 5 JOD for the Jeep ride which will take you to the location that is 30 min walk from the Monastery (mostly downhill). It’s the best 5 JOD that I spent. :) it saves you a really long walk in the sun. From that point on, you will only need to walk up hill a little and then mostly downhill. This is an easier path to go. It will take 3-4 hours if you don’t stop for drinks or rest. Then have your transfer driver pick you up at the Petra visitor center. Please note that if you have a Jordan pass and if you have not exchanged it for a ticket to Petra, you will have to do that at the Petra visitor center prior to going to Little Petra.

Built on a Ridge overlooking the Petra valley the sunset views are great. Only 10 minutes from the Petra visitor center entrance to the Petra formations. The rooms are big and the bathroom has a shower stall which is better than tubs which are hard to get in and out of the. The water pressure was good and the water was hot. The beds were firm with fresh smelling linens. Breakfast was the usual spread with a bit of everything.
They were offering 25% off on S.p.A. treatments but we had no time.

My family decided to take a post pandemic trip in June. I will be writing a series of reviews so that anyone planning to travel in upcoming weeks is better informed.
We were two adults and two kids (9 and 3 years).

This was the second stop of my family's three week vacation in Jordan, Turkey and Croatia. We spent 2 nights in Marriott Petra.

The hotel was only 10% occupied, Most of the guests were from USA. Marriott Petra hotel felt like we were invited to someone’s house in Jordan. It felt very homey. The views were spectacular. One of the best views in Petra.

The staff was very welcoming and professional. The staff member from the restaurant whose name is Khamas provided exceptional service. He took care of us during dinner and lunch services. He also suggested some great restaurants in the downtown area

Marriott’s bedouin restaurant is a must if you are staying at the hotel. The food(We had Mandi), the live oud music and sunset view were just amazing. This was the highlight of our trip. Also the meat pizza in the restaurant was delicious as well.

Regarding rooms, they are dated and need a refresh. Rooms are small regardless of the type you get. I am ok with it but since spoiled by my W Amman stay, this was somewhat of a let down. On the plus side we ended up spending most of our time in the lobby/swimming pool area. The cleaning staff was very thorough and provided a great service.

The Covid safety measures were taken very seriously. The cleaning staff provided regularly provided us with sanitizers and mask. I have to say that the cleaning staff was better trained and did a better job than Marriott Dead Sea cleaning staff.

Things Marriott Petra can improve upon:

They are doing everything right. I would rate the staff level of service equal to and in some cases better than other hotels I stayed in Jordan(I stayed in W Amman, Marriott Dead Sea)

This Marriott property was an excellent choice for our family. From check in to check out, the staff was fabulous. The rooms were of good size, clean and comfortable. Daily breakfast offered many great quality food choices. We enjoyed evening dinner in the bar. The menu offered a variety of food and beverage options which satisfied our needs. The meals were always delivered fresh and hot. The service was excellent. The Turkish Bath was an excellent way to warm up and relax from a day at Petra. The staff was great. Thanks for a great stay. We will reccommend this Marriott Property to friends visiting Petra.

The staff was very accommodating and eager to assist, as well as answering questions about Petra. The views are absolutely amazing. It was just a short 5-6 min car ride down the hill to the entrance of Petra. The shuttle service was easy and convenient, running three times in the morning, 6:30, 7:30 & 8:30. Then three pick up times starting around 3:30pm.

Beware, the price of taxis at the entrance/exit of Petra are expensive. We were there during the off season and the taxi back was 15 dinar and as much as 50 dinar in the high season ( per hour driver). So, the FREE hotel shuttle is the way to go.

The hotel restaurant was absolutely amazing. The food was 5 Star, the hotel manager came and introduced himself to all the tables and you could tell he genuinely cared about your stay and dining experience.

I booked a couple of months in advance and paid around JOD 435 for the room. That’s over USD 600. And it wasn’t in peak season. For that I expected something really good. What I got was something very average, if that. A dated property with limited amenities and not hugely welcoming service. The sort of place you would pay a fraction of the price for in most places. The views are good but it is inconvenient for Petra and the shuttle buses run infrequently so it was necessary to takes taxis to suit our agenda.

If you can get a really good rate it is perhaps an acceptable place to stay if you can’t get in to the better hotels closer to Petra. But I felt utterly ripped off and it has really put me off Marriotts. It is just not right to allow the operator to charge so much for such an average place, regardless of the location.
