crown plaza hotel is being renovated. But we went to the basin restaurant located at the end of trail of the Petra Ruins. It’s like an oasis. Indoor air conditioning Restaraunt. Beer wine. And buffet food. Friendly service and bathrooms. It can be crowded. Have fun.

I had a nice buffet at the restaurant, a lot of options, tasty food and one of the employees (Odai) made my stay very good. Coffee was also nice, and view from restaurant is great. Recommended after long walk in Petra :)

Part of a wonderful cruise trip in 2011 to Jordan's Petra and Egypt's Nile, Pyramids and Valley of the Kings. we stopped off for lunch in this fine hotel. As we were on an excursion, we only passed through so did not see the rooms and experience an overnight stay, however it was an excellent lunch and service. capping one of the wonders of the world. I'm sure you would you the whole experience of the area and the wonders of Petra.

The rooms at the Crowne Plaza Petra need updating, but I think that is in the works. The pool was also under maintenance during our visit which is tough when traveling with children. I do believe that the hotel is working on both of these issues so maybe email first before booking if an updated room and a pool are important to you. The location is fabulous as it is literally next door to the entrance to Petra! I did Petra by night and maybe 6 hours the following day with my 15 and 13-year-old. We LOVED Petra, so this location worked for us. We also loved the Cave Bar which is onsite. My kids liked the food, and I loved having a drink in Jordan which is a rare event!

We stayed a night in this hotel as part of a tour of Jordan and a day visit to Petra. The hotel is right at the entrance to the Petra site and also runs a buffet restaurant in the Petra site, where we broke for a modest lunch during our visit. The hotel decor is quite dated and the facilities more typical of a 3* hotel by European standards. The hotel was clean and comfortable and the staff were very friendly. The main attraction of the hotel is the Cave bar, which we enjoyed some drinks in and they had musical entertainment in the evening.

The man working behind the window at the Crown Plaza beverage kiosk (not the resturant next door) tried charging us 50JD ($70) for 2 Fanta, 2 small Perriers, 2 local beers, a small Pringles, and a tin of mixed nuts. When we pointed out it there must be some mistake and started adding the costs based on the menu, another of his colleagues came out to defend him and said it was because we hadn't added the 17% taxes. When we demanded that they provide us a bill - the total came to substantially less and jived with the prices on the menu + 17% tax - 35JD, NOT 50JD. We've been going to Petra for the last 2 years and often stop at the the restaurant next door - also Crown Plaza - and have had nothing buy exceptional sevice. Too bad a few bad apples (who obviously didn't realize we've been living in Jordan for some years) don't mind risking a good business's reputation for their own expense.…

On our honeymoon we got a room with to separate beds and a baby bed. The hotel was not full, but after complaining by the reception the answer was, we our fully booked so no solution. Staff was terrible and arrogant. Didn't care for the customers and the room was dirty.
