I loved staying at the Old Village during our visit to Petra.

When we arrived, the hotel owner and senior management showed us our rooms, explaining the history of the site and what the rooms originally were. They also told us about their plans for improvements; their passion was infectious! It was obvious that they wanted everything to be perfect for their guests.

Other awesome things about this hotel: the large indoor pool, the luxurious outdoor jacuzzi, the amazing dinner and breakfast buffets, the view at sunset... it goes on and on.

We were staying there as part of a special anniversary holiday and they even provided a surprise cake to mark the occasion. So kind!

Also, a shout-out to Mousa who was so helpful.

In short: if you're looking for a bit of luxury while you visit Petra, this is the place.

Beautiful hotel in a beautiful setting. The service was fantastic from start to finish, the staff really make this place feel like a 5* experience. Breakfast was wonderful, dinner was also very good, we opted for the buffet which costs 20JD pp which is excellent value considering all of the different options available, all freshly cooked and delicious. Our double room was very spacious with an extremely comfortable bed. The bathroom didn’t quite match up to everything else but was still very clean and functional. The hotel is an 8 minute drive from Petra visitors centre but they offer a free shuttle bus service from 0800-1600 (although the driver offered to pick us up later if we wanted!). You can drive yourself, parking is free on the road behind the Petra moon hotel. The hotel has an indoor and outdoor pool with a small gym and sauna, which were all very nice and clean. Overall, one of the nicest hotels I’ve ever had the pleasure of staying in, would highly recommend it. Thank you!

Gorgeous setting that has a desert feel to it but beware where your room is located. We were assigned a room all the way at the top of the hill with many, many, many steps leading to that room. However, they do have golf carts that will take you up to your room. The rooms are quite large, simply decorated. The bathroom is small with a tub. We came here when it was snowing and freezing cold so the room took a while to heat up. Breakfast Was excellent with so many choices; Both Jordanian and American choices but you’ll be paying extra for cappuccino or any “special” coffees. Nice little gift shop by the hotel and a spa with an outside and inside pool, outside jacuzzi, sauna and massage if you’d like one although the massage was not great. Absolutely beautiful views everywhere and a wonderful place to stay.

Check-in was very friendly, we were greeted as if we were returning friends. The GM was always on premise and knew us by name from day one.
Since we had a rental car, the 10-minute drive to the visitor's centre wasn't a problem for us. Getting away from the hustle and bustle of downtown rather felt like a blessing.
Our two rooms were close to the main building and were connected by a private outdoor sitting area where my wife and I had tea and enjoyed the warm night while the kids were asleep next door. Priceless peace of mind!
The architecture uses local stone and blends in perfectly with the environment. Rooms feature ancient vaulted ceilings and huge beds. Mini Bar contents are complimentary but were not refilled during our stay. The hotel is alcohol free, which didn't bother us at all. The village is on a fairly steep hill, so if you have a room further up, there might be some climbing or a club car ride involved.
Having an indoor pool in a hot and arid climate seemed a bit over the top at first, but when we came back exhausted from a day's hiking in the heat of Petra, we understood: it's about the shade and about reducing evaporation. Clever move! We never went back to the outside pool after that.

I was part of a tour group that stayed at The Old Village, last month. The room was beautifully appointed and very spacious. The view from the room, over Petra, was delightful. The restaurant was absolutely superb. The variety of dishes and courses on offer were to an extent I've not seen, before. The Maitre D and staff are very attentive and keep a close eye on all aspects of the food and restaurant. There were quite a few tour groups at the hotel and the restaurant managed the significant numbers very well. The restaurant is of a sufficient size, that the large number of people did not make it uncomfortable. Every meal was an absolute delight.

What a surprise it was, after four hours in the van, to arrive at The Old Village. The front desk staff were very helpful. The no-smoking rooms were clean, spacious, had firm mattresses and were appropriately decorated. Dinner the first night was a well-stocked buffet of local fare, followed by an “informative talk and dance display” in the conference room. The breakfast buffet was a combination of international and local. We were able to exchange money, relax with delicious coffee, and just sit after a long day in Petra. We’d definitely stay again!

Stayed at the hotel for 2 nights whilst visiting Petra - couldn’t fault it!
From the beautiful suite with bedroom and separate sitting area, fridge stocked with inclusive soft drinks and on the first day 2 x snickers bars that after a long da y travelling made us very happy to the daily plate of fresh fruit. The bathroom had an array of toiletries which were restocked daily and whole place was spotlessly clean and comfortable.

The staff couldn’t be more helpful from the people on the front desk to those in the restaurant . I would like to say a special thank to Saber who waited on us and a very big thank you to the chef Hamza salameen who took a lot of time to make me feel very special (for a change )when it comes to food choice and showed me all the gluten free food I could eat even bringing me my own plate of pudding on the last day decorated with a white chocolate swirl . The selection of food for breakfast and evening meal was excellent whatever your dietary requirements

The hotel is alcohol free but the fruit cocktails were better than any alcoholic cocktail I have ever tasted

The hotel had two pools , 1 indoor heated one and 1 outdoor non heated from , a small gym and a jacuzzi outside with plenty of seating area for sunbathing / relaxing. Again all very clean

I would 100% recommended this hotel

I’ve scored this 3/5 not because there was anything wrong with the venue, because there wasn’t, but if you are looking for a Jordanian experience this is not it. The village is beautifully set out (no room views) in a valley of sandstone units with 2 lovely pools and so much food at the buffet restaurant, but you could be anywhere in the world, because it was so sanitised and neutral. Staff were exceptionally polite and courteous and the entire village was immaculately clean with very little to say “This is our country, you’re in Jordan, come experience us”. You will need transport to Petra, it’s too far away and too hilly to trek there and there are no restaurants in the immediate area so you will need to have transport to the township or enjoy the over priced and average food at the restaurant or buffet on site.

Lovely resort in the old town buildings converted into a hotel. Large outdoor swimming pool with plenty of sunbeds and an indoor pool for the winter months. All public areas of the hotel were very picturesque.
The guest room was large with excellent a/c, but that is the only positive aspects of the room. The bed was hard and rather uncomfortable as were the pillows, there is a small window but it overlooks a public walkway therefore meaning you need to have the curtain closed if you want privacy. TV was a bit old as was the furniture in the room. The bathroom was a disaster for a so called 5 star property, it was small, with a low ceiling, no where to put your toiletries, a small bath tub with pathetic shower hose overhead with not enough head room to stand under the water spray, you have to stand in front of the spout and duck under the spray. With the hotel charging such high prices for a stay the room is an enormous let down and needs a seriously big upgrade - luckily the public areas are so good as to drown out the room disappointment.
The buffet dining room offered an excellent choice for dinner, but I felt the breakfast effort was disappointing - a hot breakfast was not good with not much suitable, there was a egg station but little else to go with the eggs. Many of the breads and pastries were a bit dry, I'm guessing due to being put out for more than 1 day. Also disappointed that the hotel is dry, with no alcohol on offer, sitting around the pool area with an ice cold beer would have been just the thing after a long day sightseeing, and the large balcony in the dining room which has superb views of Petra town and the sunset really invites you sit down with a bottle of wine, again seeing as you pay so much per night I would have thought management would relax the rules and cater to the tourists expectations

We had 2 nights here as part of a tour group and ate at the Olive Grove restaurant for dinner and breakfast each day. I'm generally not a fan of buffets but this was exceptional and very extensive with lots of cooking stations as well as self serve.
Everything was top quality and hard to fault ( except the coffee and the absence of anything alcoholic.) The rooms are spacious and well designed, recently renovated and the whole development is very sympathetic to the history and aspect of the town. Great, professional service and a memorable experience.

Are any of the pools or the jacuzzi open at the end of March? Thanks

We went in November, which was quite cool, and both were open, so I have no reason to believe they wouldn’t be open in March. However the pools are not heated and were cold to swim in. Contact the hotel directly for confirmation.

Our rooms (and all of the rooms in Jordan that I saw) had both US and European plugs.
