This is an amazing camp! The view is spectacular! We have stayed here as a family about 5 times over the last 5 or so years. The staff is very helpful and very kind. The breakfast is Arabic style, so don’t expect an omelette, but it is delicious. The dinner they provide is also very good- usually chicken and veggies with other sides.
There are some rooms that are made up of Bedouin tents and cement, other rooms are all cement, and they are building some new rooms that also include private bathrooms. All the “Bedouin” style rooms have windows with amazing views of the valley.
There are shared bathrooms that are complete with individual showers, toilets in stalls (both western style toilets as well as “squatty” potties.
The beds are pretty comfortable, but don’t expect a hotel-level bed quality.
My wife loves nice 5 star hotels, and she hates camping- but she loves coming to this place! You feel like you are camping, but with decent bathrooms, meals cooked for you, and actually furniture and protection from the elements.
This is also a great place to stay overnight if you are heading to Aqaba or Petra from the north.
There is a nice hike down into the valley, although it is pretty steep.
Would highly recommend this place, great value for the price!

We had a lovely time at Al nawan camp. It is basic by good value and the setting is unrivalled in Jordan, overlooking cliffs on the edge of the Dana reserve. They offer a range of guided walks which were reasonably priced. Breakfast is free and dinner is 7dinars pp, both were delicious. Thank you Mohammed and his team.

We stayed in the camp for one night during our holiday but we wished we stayed longer. The owners and the people that work there are so friendly and welcoming and seriously can not do enough for you. The views are out of this world and the food they cooked us for dinner and lunch was the best food we ate the whole trip. The owner of the camp asked what type
Of hiking we liked to do and arranged a hike for us with his 60 year old friend Sara who was hilarious. We loved our stay here and would recommend it to anyone who loves good views, good food, and nature. They also have the cutest cats and a really chunky puppy who was adorable. You have to stay here while you are in Jordan! It’s an experience you won’t forget.

We enjoyed our stay here! We had a great breakfast and dinner and lots of tea! It was pretty cold but the common room was kept warm and we met other travellers there. We had lots of blankets and a heater in our room too. We went for a nice little hike the next day. Lovely views, friendly staff, and lots of hiking options!

This camp has a magnificent view on the valley. You can hike on several trails from there. There is a wonderful sunset spot 5 minutes from the camp further down the road. Rooms have heaters that can keep you warm in the cold january nights. The owner and the other men working there are very nice and welcoming. I had a wonderful experience!

The staff are very generous and welcoming and will go above and beyond to help you feel comfortable. The views are amazing and the local hikes are great. The facilities are basic but this is normal for camping. The sunset tour was 100% a highlight

Simple but nice camp, stayed in a basic hut without electricity. There were some woollen blankets to keep us warm, but the tent was not windproof, this could be improved. Overall, we enjoyed our stay. The owners are amazing and the other guests too. They made sure we got our tea cup constantly filled! Dinner was fine. We were well informed about our hike trip to Wadi Ghuweir and the time it takes to get back by bus (2 hours). We already had expected it would cost us a whole day, but we had to wait for a long time before the mini van arrived to bring us back to the camp. Maybe this is something to improve. At the end point, it is possible to rest in a tent, where drinks can be bought and toilets are available. It is also possible to arrange that your rental car is driven to the end point of the hike, so that you can drive to your next destination immediately! I wish we had more time to discover the beautiful environment at Dana Reserve! Hope to come back here.

To anyone unsure of which place to book: this is definitely the one! The camp is perfect to relax and calm down, the views over the reserve are stunning, and the staff is incredibly friendly, kind and nice. They went out of their way to make us feel welcome, help us with any inquiries we had, and made sure we had the best time. We also did the sunset tour and the Cave tour with them, which were really beautiful!

My mother and I stayed at Al Nawatef camp for 3 nights. We initially booked at this camp to go to Petra and Wadi Rum but now I regret not staying at least one extra night to visit Dana and its stunning nature.
The view from the camp is breathtaking, especially the sunset! It's a nice and calm place where you will feel at one with nature. The staff is incredibly helpful and kind, there are just no words. Mohammed who is the manager is always there if you need anything. They are all truly welcoming and correct people. The owner, Ali, together with Muhammad even took us for a nice short trip to see the sunset. Just like that. Breakfast and dinner are buffet style and really yummie. At this place you also get the chance to meet other travelers and locals. It's a nice experience and I can recommend it to anyone fit enough to travel.
Big hugs to Ali, Mohammed, baba, Belal, the amazing cook and everyone else of the staff. Thanks for the lovely experience, you guys rock! See you soon, InshAllah.

The place is great! And run with a family feeling, everyone old to Young is welcoming and warm.
I left my torch and when we came back 2 days later to get it, they invited us in for breakfast and tea.
Truly an experience!

Can anyone give me an idea of the price for the local guides used at the camp please.
Answer from Marielle R

The weather is changing quite fast depending the time and where you are even in a valley or down the valley, depending where you are in the country, temperature are very different at dead sea, Dana reserve, North and Wadirum. I experience Dana reserve in january, starting with a coat (very windy), then only pullover, then t-shirt. So normal long pants (better if climbing and walking in rocks, light one to be dry fast if rain) with three layers on top probably the best for winter. Weather changing so fast... Most important good shoes. Wooly hat also for the wind sometimes (even Wadirum).
