So good to see Juan Corporan again. This place would not be the same without him! All of the First Club staff are a great group of people. Thank you Angel, Mia, and Grammy for all of your kind assistance. Our housekeepers, Diania and Maria were the best. Thanks to the nameless maintenance people who resolved problems quickly and efficiently. The Animation Team was outstanding: Yosmairy, DJ, Ruth, Yubely, Luis and Carlita. We really appreciated Carlito, Juan, Enrique and Haculine - excellent service at the buffet and restaurants. A big THANK YOU to Luz del Alzur in customer service for making our arrangements for the antigen test so smooth. Upon arriving everyone was so welcoming and check in was smooth. Thank you to Grammy. The grounds were immaculate and these men should be recognized. The beach was outstanding as was the entire facility. All Covid procedures were followed by the staff and we appreciated their extra measure of care. Food was good in all the restaurants and adequate in the buffets. The room was clean and comfortable. Stayed here for 2 weeks over Christmas and new year. Room, nice room with everything needed, coffee machine, iron and board. Bathroom, lovely and with toiletries provided, shampoo, conditioner and shower gel. Cleaners were lovely, friendly and efficient. Food. Buffets were very good, especially Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve. Restaurants you had to book, never a problem, Oriental, seafood, Mexican and Italian was ok, steak house and pizza good, depends what food you prefer, you can’t please everyone. Bar staff and Buffet staff worked extremely hard and always so friendly. Pools great, always able to get a sunbed Entertainment was ok. New Year’s Eve was amazing. Moans and groans Staff in Seafood restaurant were not so good, clearly didn’t enjoy their job and I admit to being fed up after waiting 20 minutes to be acknowledged. I’m struggling to find any gripes. We had a very enjoyable holiday, actually we got married, just the 2 of us, it was very romantic and excellent service, well worth the money. I’ve read some of the reviews and cannot believe how people have underrated this hotel. Will definitely be returning to this hotel. …
We decided to host our family reunion at this property, we were a group of 25. Check in and room was great and speedy. My only complaint is that it was extremely difficult to land a reservation for the special restaurants, keeping in mind we never attempted to all go at once. The main restaurants that were opened were the Mexican and italian. We got lucky and landed the Japanese restaurant last minute on Sunday and that Saturday the steak house opened last minute and we still couldn’t land a reservation. The buffet was average very local infused. Sadly there was always line to eat as it feels as many locals come on the weekend then depart Sunday. Definitely Monday felt like we were in a different hotel. For someone on a budget this hotel was great, great beach, large pool and good Covid appropriate entertainment at night. …
We had a great time last week, staying for 5 days. I had lots of anxiety because of COVID, but I felt safe at all times. The service in the Royal Club was impeccable- thank you Samuel, Yeremi, Juan and Ruben in the restaurant, check-in staff and the housekeepers. Beach was beautiful and very little seaweed. It was sad walking up and down the beach to see how many resorts have shuttered. The vendors were annoying, but I simple "no thank you," was enough to keep them away. Pools were empty. We estimated about 15% capacity in the Royal Club and probably 20% the rest of the property, except for the weekend when there were lots of locals. No night-time entertainment which was fine with us. The Royal restaurant had the best food in our opinion. The regular buffet was PACKED on the weekend and still busy during the week, so we didn't feel comfortable because of COVID. We also ate at the Mexican, Italian and Asian restaurants. They were meh, but service was excellent. Drinks were plentiful and tasty, but you did have to specifically ask for top shelf if you wanted it. Our 1 bedroom suite in building #19 looked like the pictures online- huge, clean and comfortable. Only negatives were our room looked over the First Club area and it was really loud on the weekend. Also, there was a persistent smell of weed coming from the right entrance area of building #19. We would definitely go back and we encourage others to visit as well. The economy in the DR needs it and the people are kind and grateful.…
Our stay at Occidental Punta Cana was excellent, great hotel and service. We came in and William in reception made us feel home from the moment we arrived. The whole team was awesome. Also, service at the main restaurant was great, Octavio Morla loves his job and that is certainly something we appreciate.
