Excellent resort , beautiful grounds , big clean room, lots of choice of foods even for us vegetarians. Lots to do for family games if you want . Evening entertainment poor . Beautiful beach cleaned daily from seaweed. Very friendly staff from cleaning, dining and gardeners. . Would definitely come back .
I booked this trip to relax and see the other side of Punta Cana, having been in Punta Cana before, I had to see what the Bavaro side had to offer. I was not disappointed. Greeted by the most polite bellhops that I've seen in a long time, and check in was a breeze, thank you to Dominga, reception manager. My meeting the next morning with Samuel my Sunwing Rep was the best part of the trip. He not only has the perfect information to give us, but also the passion of his job can be felt through out his speech. Being the worry freak I was constantly going to him for information about the border closings or the restrictions, and the more the week passed, the more I knew I couldn't stay here for 2 weeks. I was going to have a panic attack before the 2 weeks finished for sure, but the Little Sammy is what everyone calls him here because of his 6foot 4 size of a man saved the week. He took it upon himself to do everything he could and he did, to send me back home on a flight to Canada safe and sound. It's people like Samuel that are the reason why companies like Sunwing are as successful as they are. Recognition and appreciation is their reward, so if you are at the Vista sol one day, don't forget to say hi to little Sammy.…
Friendly staff. Sunwing personnel extremely helpful. Travelled with two people in wheelchairs and staff at the airport and resort were great. Samuel Martinez was extremely helpful making several phone calls to ensure a trip off the resort was well organized and we got all the help we needed. Really enjoyed the Gourmet Restaurant. All in all a great family resort. Visited March 2020 and would like to make a return trip in the future.
My husband and I went for 5 nights for a getaway in March 2020. This resort seemed appealing not only for the cost, but for the amenities of being an all inclusive resort. So off we went with high hopes. When we arrived check in was good, front desk clerk was pleasant. We were shown to our room with a brief tour as we walked. Our room was beachfront, main floor so can't complain about that. The view was amazing, and we had a nice balcony to sit outside and enjoy the view and the breeze. The room was very simple, but seemed clean. However beware if you have a bad back-the mattress was so hard that I could barely get up the next morning, and I don't have back issues. Thank goodness for Motrin. There is a very small coffee pot in the room which was better than nothing, but very interesting to find that for an all inclusive coffee was only included on the first day, after that you had to go to the gift shop and purchase at $1USD. OK, not much, but why would this not be included? Maids did a good job, they seemed very efficient. The first night we went to the American BBQ restaurant and truly it was one of the worst food experiences we have had. The burger we ordered was like rubber, the cheese on top didn't each look or taste like cheese, and the fries were lukewarm. We were so hungry and exhausted that we ate what we could and left. There were very few choices on the menu, and we were really disappointed and a bit apprehensive of what the other restaurants would be like during our stay. We have stayed at other all inclusive resorts before and have to say have never had a meal as bad as this. The next day we spent a pleasant day on the beach, but beware of the pinecones as they will hurt bare feet, wear your flip flops! Also lots of vendors on the beach trying to sell things, if you said no thanks they went on their way (all except one who was irritated that we said no to him). We found the bar on the beach and were interested to find that the liquor they use has to be the cheapest that they could possibly find. You would hope that a resort would use a decent quality of alcohol for drinks that taste good. And the beer was terrible, only one offered so if you didn't like it, tough. That night we ate at the Gourmet restaurant, and this was better than the American restaurant, but still not great. Again a very limited menu, and found it interesting that they offered lobster on the menu, but for an up charge. Again, this is an all inclusive so this really didn't sit well with us. Also the portion sizes were very small, and if I had purchased the lobster I wonder what you would receive for the money. The servers were pleasant, but if you don't speak Spanish there could be a bit of language barrier. The next day we spent at the pool , we were able to find lounge chairs without an issue and had a relaxing day. The bartender didn't look like she was having a good day, but when we gave her a tip she was much more friendly. That night we had reservations at the Italian restaurant but not until 8:30 p.m. (Note: make your restaurant reservations as soon as you are checked in!) so we went to the buffet. There were plenty of choices and most servers were pleasant, however there were a few who really were not happy to be there and we sensed quite an attitude from them which is too bad because s the impression the workers give the guests is so important. The next day we spent by the pool, again over all a nice day and same bartender who recognized us from the day before and was much more pleasant, again especially after a tip. That night we ate at the Japanese restaurant and had sushi where was very good and the chefs were very attentive offering more sushi if we wanted. Definitely the best dining experience we had. Unfortunately we were not able to get reservations at the Teppanyaki restaurant, it looked like the diners were having a great time and the chefs were putting on quite a show so we were disappointed that we were not able to try it. We were also impressed that we saw workers every day doing maintenance landscaping and keeping the grounds looking nice and the walkways clear of debris. So overall out stay was good, they just need to make some improvements to the food and beverage and this place could be a wonderful get away.…
We visited from 21 to 28 feb 2020 for our 4th time since 2016. I started communicating via email with Omar D Oleo a couple months before our trip and he was excellent to coordinate a few special requests with. Super friendly and detailed. Check in was a breeze and we got the room we asked for. 9209 Jr suite on the beach. Absolutely beautiful view. Next time I will ask for 9201 or 9212. The room, deck, and bathroom were amazing as well as the maids in building 9 (sorry I dont remember their names) the room was always cleaned before we made it back to get ready for dinner. The bar tender on beach by building 9 was awesome... and all of the security staff on that end of the beach were great too. Having access to that part of the beach in front of building 9 was definitely worth it. We also met up with our old friend Coca whom everyone seems to have friendly interaction with... a great guy. The food at the buffet was great... love the breakfast especially but there is always something for everyone but be aware it is a buffet and you serve yourself... expect that... even though occaisionally someone will take a drink order you'll probably have to get your own... and in the morning the coffee lady is in high demand so you may have to track her down but she will happily oblige and bring it to your table. Italian, Mexican, and Gourmet were great... and the Japanese was the best meal we had all week. The snack bar did the trick a couple times late night. Francisco Pena was a great bar tender at the lobby bar always attentive and enjoying himself. The hotel has seen a lot of improvements over the last few years and it's absolutely our favorite. It's perfect in size, layed out perfectly, food is great and the drinks are cold the staff is always friendly and even if they are busy they take the time to say hello if you speak. I find it hard to believe that anyone could find a complaint about 99% of the staff we encountered. All super friendly. We've been to other places but always return to Vista Sol because it is like home away from home and cant wait to make another trip there. …
