I can only imagine the challenges of feeding a resort full of tourists, with varying tastes. Doing that with a buffet has to be a logistical nightmare. Barcelo tries, but missed (IMHO) in many ways. For breakfast, omelets were about the only option for something not in a chafing pan. I'm sure my cholesterol took a beating during my stay. For lunch and dinner buffets, the quality felt about like a cheap casino buffet on the Nevada state line. Additionally, there seemed to be no theme to the food offerings - pretty much a scattershot of various foods. I appreciate that the entire hospitality industry installed plexiglass panels in front of the buffet lines, but isn't it time to take them down? Even CDC recognizes that there's no evidence of Covid transfer via food. Our experience with the ala carte restaurants was entirely inconsistent. The French, Japanese and Spanish restaurants were excellent! Unfortunately the Italian, Mexican and steak restaurants fell short of being mediocre. Marinara tasted like thinned down Campbell's Cream of Tomato soup. My enchiladas were made with flour tortillas that turned to a slimy film wrap. Grisly steak. We don't drink alcohol, so I can't comment on the bars, but people seemed to drink a lot, despite complaints I heard about weak drinks. For non-imbibers, we probably all feel like we're subsidizing everyone else's hangovers.... The rooms were nicely maintained, the bed was comfortable and we were able to get the sodas in the minibar that we wanted. The beach was cleaned and raked everyday and the landscaping crew deserves applause and tips. The pools were very nice and (particularly with Covid occupancy limits) there was never a problem getting a good place to hang out on the beach or at a pool. Heads up! The resort arranged with a local hospital to perform Covid tests for people flying to the US. The process was painfully long and took us about 2 1/2 hours from when we arrived at the room for testing, until we were finished. The antigen test only cost $5 and the results were available about 1 1/2 hours later. The resort requires two (2) copies of the photo page of a passport. The concierge will make photocopies for guests, but people can save time by bringing their own copies.

So if you're like me and you keep coming back here and reading a lot of mixed reviews I will give you my full honest opinion. We're both in our upper 20's just looking to relax, get some sun and have some drinks. I give this resort 4.5/5 We stayed here 1/20-1/24. We arrived at the hotel on Wednesday at 2PM, no wait at check in took about 10 minutes and our room was ready. Ask for the wifi password (WIFI is FREE). We were in building 5 Junior suite first floor, it wasn't on the water but it was okay because it was literally a 30 second walk to the beach. Once you check in go back to the lobby and visit guest services to reserve Al carte Dining for the evening. We had seafood, Santa fe steak house, Italian & Mexican all set for 7PM. Kyoto was completely booked up & I believe the Spanish and French costs extra (not for Premium) Buffett wasn't awful, I mean you're not expecting the best but it was honestly fine and for the reviews saying that the buffet was a nightmare it honestly wasn't that bad. Masks are required in all buffet and dining. It was much busier Saturday afternoon and Sunday but during the week day it was perfect. We would wake up every morning before 8AM go get breakfast and go to the beach for a few hours and yes they're plenty of lodge seating. Afterwards we would go the the adults only pool , which we felt like we had to ourselves the entire time. It was nice not being around the other kids and where our hotel room was (building 5) it was literally right next door it was perfect! Julia & Hector at the adults only pool bar will take care just please bring smalls bills and always tip, they're hard workers. The only entertainment at night was pretty much the casino, they do have daytime activites like zumba, yoga, etc... Only Cons: - Not much privacy in the bathroom, you will hear whoever is using the toilet lol - Seafood dining was my least favorite - If you're in building 1 and 2 I could see it being annoying having to walk pretty far everyday. I would 100% come back to this resort

not recommend this hotel specially in during COVID, the food is very bad not fresh, and room have bugs and bug eggs (our visit is in March) we have to change room about everyday. need to wait until 3 m to change room.

I was just at this hotel and I was amaze by the attentions at the sport bar by Mayra Montero ( supervisor ) and her team of bartenders Juan and Nata and all the waitress Arelis, Katherine and Ruth. All of them wearing their mask at all time. Her team really rock at the sport bar. Also in the morning Yunior Ureña at the breakfast buffet took real care of me and my group. All the team members were very professional and polite ( Carlos Rodríguez, Luz Mejía, Alberto Rosario, Nicol, Dabi and Wilkin Méndez )... They all deserve a big CONGRATULATION. I will be back again.

Very disappointing stay! The food was the worst food i've ever had! I got food poisoning on the second day! Nothing was included, no golf, no bowling! We had to pay $200 to golf for the day. I was looking forward to a week away with my boyfriend but this hotel was horrible! To top it off its not even in Punta Cana. One of the workers said "Punta Cana is 10x prettier than this" VERY VERY upset. I will not be coming back.
