Iberostar Bavaro just open on the 25 of november after being completely renovated. It is wonderfurl what they have done. Adding a new swimming pool and for the kids they enlarge the playnig area. It his very beautiful now. The negative part: They renovated everything execpt they did not change the menu in the restaurant and the show either. The wine could be better to, It is still the same menu and the same show that was there 10 years ago. So if they want to make it more attractive for the tourists they must do more than the decoration.
Feels likes coming home since this was our 4th visit to this resort. Once again very pleased with check in, our flight was earlier than check in time but was pleased to see the room was ready at 1500. I emailed weeks earlier and asked for a king size bed and got it. I wished I would have gotten the lady at the front desk's name but she was excellent. Room: Shows wear and tear and should be updated but overall decent. The daily maid service and turndown was wonderful, I would have loved to know the names so I could give them credit. I did tip 5 dollars a day since I found out years ago what they made an hour. They did excellent Room Service: Prompt service and was hoping for a more expanded menu. Nice menu but I believe it could be expanded upon/improved Mini Bar: Only missed filling 1 day out of 7 Ice: Several machines down and had to walk quite a ways to get ice, didn't mention to management. On Vacation and could use the exercise. LOL Employees to give High marks to; Mario at the buffet-have had for 5 years-like family Sophia at the buffet-have had for 5 years-like family Eduard drink server on the beach Enrique Beach lunch server Morelis waitress during the evening shows- Was exceptional and We could not have asked for a better server. So friendly and such a vibrant personality. Also such a very hard worker. Looking forward to seeing all the above next year. Grounds: The grounds are so well maintained and beautiful The whole grounds keepers should be commended for the fantastic job they do. Beach: No problem getting a hut to relax at during the day Dining: Japanese and Mediterranean are by far the best choices. Buffett always offers a nice selection.…
My wife and I returned for our second time together since our honeymoon in 2014. It would be my wife's fourth time to the same resort. We were very excited as we had waited and saved a long time for this trip. As educators, planning such a long stay and being able to save for it is a challenge. Traveling during the holidays can also be VERY stressful, so we looked forward to the rest. I'll try to break this down into a few categories: Room/Grounds: When we arrived to our room, we found that the bathroom was not fully cleaned (some dirt, hairs in shower and around the room) and the sink was clogged. This was a bit of a rough start after a long day of travel. It was not what we expected for the cost of our vacation. We called the front desk and finally by 10:30-11 PM, a staff member finally arrived to finish cleaning our bathroom. It took TWO calls to get someone to arrive. This would be a theme. Our house keeper, Yajayra, was excellent and kept the room tidy the rest of our time there. She was very kind and tried her best to communicate with us. Our mini-fridge was only stocked twice without us having to call. It was stocked late after we arrived Friday, stocked again Saturday, and not stocked again until Thursday. I called the front desk twice to get it stocked, spoke to multiple staff members (making several visits to the front desk on Thursday after getting no response from calling the front desk Wednesday), and it was finally stocked late Thursday. The mini-fridge being stocked was not necessary with the open bars, but the fact that it was not stocked until the evening before we left after I asked MULTIPLE times seems a bit disappointing. Also, the mini-bar temperature is kept at what I was told is a level to chill drinks. I had to keep refrigerated medication in the mini-bar and I do not think it was at a temperature that would be safe. I was not entirely sure if the mini-bar was even working most of the time. This should be more clearly labeled or explained. Our air conditioning did seem to go out one night. We called and talked to front desk about it in the morning. We got no notification about whether or not it was fixed, but it did seem to improve by the night time. We found several muddy footprints in our bathroom so I assumed someone came to look but failed to clean up. Speaking of our bathroom--- I’m not sure what the logic is behind the shower stall. There is no way to close it off to the rest of the bathroom and the shower water pours out into the rest of the bathroom. We had to put a rolled up towel on the floor daily to prevent it from pouring out. The floor would become slippery and rather unsafe to walk on otherwise. I did slip once but luckily didn’t fall. Also, there was a wall tile that was coming from the wall. I'm not sure if it was an access panel or not, but I was afraid to put anything on the hook attached to it in fear of it dropping off. The bathroom also would have a bad smell to it during the day if the bathroom door was not left open. I’m not sure what it was, but it was somewhat concerning at one point. Due to our lack of success with guest services, we never called to have it investigated. The toilet---despite having a solid and liquid waste flushing option--- did not flush very well. If they are trying to save water with the sustainable flushing mechanism, we had to often hit them multiple times to even get liquid waste to flush. The grounds varied in quality. There were areas of patchy grass, opened/cracked/broken/ugly maintenance hatches, and even an area where you could clearly smell the sewage every time you walk past it. This was particularly disgusting and disturbing as it was unavoidable most times. It was right over by the Orchid area and it was so pungent that it ruined the walk. The sidewalks were in need of a good power washing in most areas--- there was splattered paint or other substances that really did not look good. Most of the main paths were well-decorated for the holidays and well maintained. The side paths were less cared for. I believe they were in the midst of replacing a lot of signage, and that may explain why a lot of the existing signs looked like they were low in quality and care. There are a lot of scenic views and I think there were many times we were in awe of some of our walks and the beach condition. The beach was the nicest in the area--- always well maintained and cleaned. I have to say, it is very difficult getting a chair on the beach or near the pool unless you reserve one with a pile of towels and belongings by 8am. If you want to be on the beach or near the pool, drop off a towel by 8am (even though this is supposedly not allowed). Overall, our room was nice enough. However, the issues with the bathroom cleanliness situation, the weird shower, the air conditioning, the mini-fridge/mini bar not being stocked, and some of the conditions of the grounds left me feeling like I WAY overpaid. I have had cheaper rooms in Las Vegas that were better. Restaurants/Bars: The food overall is always great. There's a great variety. I have a very rare and difficult digestive disorder, and Chef Orlando was very helpful in talking to me and seeing if I needed assistance. The dining staff varied--- sometimes we would quickly get a set table, and sometimes it was impossible to find a table that was set at the buffet. Sometimes we would have to get our own water or even claim our own silverware. The resort was rather busy so we understood, but we may not have anyone even talk to us or serve us water our entire meal. Our most disappointing meal was at the French restaurant. We had a 7:30 reservation. We were sat and offered water. The restaurant was only about half full and we did not get our order taken until about 8pm. Our first appetizers did not come out for another 25 minutes, and we did not get our main course until 8:50. Our server(s) did not really come to talk to us until at one point we were going to get up and leave. Due to my digestive condition, I started getting sick and very weak as we waited so long. The portions were minimal and only a bit better than what you can get at the buffet. We highly regretted taking this reservation and decided not to chance any other restaurants. I went to the buffet next door and ate another meal. We cancelled our next reservation and stuck to the buffets the rest of the trip. In terms of food--- the quality of the buffet food goes way down as the meal time progresses. I would have fish with my meal and sometimes it would taste great and other times it was so fishy it was inedible. I once put some salmon with my eggs. It left such a terrible flavor on my eggs, I couldn’t eat the entire meal. I also once avoided lobster on New Year’s Eve because it looked pretty clear that it was not fully cooked. The tails were not flipped so the shell side was clearly uncooked. The bar staff was always excellent. Santos, Alex, Manuel, and the swim-up bar staff were always amazing. Franci and the beach bar staff were also awesome. Alfred and Alberlly--- beach waiters--- were friendly and responsive. In fact, the bar staff was excellent regardless of the location. We couldn't always catch people's names, but I can safely say the bar staff is incredible throughout the entire resort. Entertainment: The entertainment staff/Star Friends were great. JJ, Coco Chanel, Skinny Boy, Bugs Bunny, and many others were fantastic. They put in long days and are very energetic and funny. I wish I had a greater opportunity to interact with them more. On our last visit, we may have had more time with the entertainment staff because of a lower occupancy. This visit, I feel like we just couldn't catch them at certain activities as much. But, they were fantastic! Service: Guest Services/Phone contact: On New Year's Eve, we accidentally shattered a glass in our room. We immediately called guest services to see if they could clean it up as the glass shards had spread quite a bit throughout the lower portion of the room. No one came for hours until I called again--- this time someone arrived with instead two new glasses, but not to clean the glass. I took a towel and did my best to sweep up the room and make it safe to walk in, but no one arrived after our calls and talking to guest services. The next morning our house keeper cleaned it up. Due to the safety issue of this, I'm quite disappointed that it wasn't fixed until our normal cleaning time. We called guest services a number of times for issues from getting our room cleaned on the first day to cleaning up glass to checking on our air conditioning. The response time was either “no response” or a very late response. We even got connected to another hotel at one point. On a positive note, Kelly from concierge was excellent and instrumental in helping us in our last two days with the mini-fridge stocking and carrying on some of our issues to management. He was disappointed at some of the issues we were facing and was taking it upon himself to get them resolved. Our assigned concierge, Francisco, was a bit difficult to work with. When we came to him with some issues, he primarily asked if we had made dinner reservations yet. We were also asked several times to attend a presentation of their new rooms and we would get some sort of voucher. We repeatedly refused as we had spent money to enjoy the resort. This is ironic because we were strongly advised by Iberostar staff to turn down timeshare presentations--- but they were trying to get us to go to a room presentation. We paid quite a bit for our trip and did not want to sit through a presentation we did not request. There was a lot of positive to our trip. However, we did face some unexpected issues that we never felt truly were resolved. It was very difficult to communicate from our room to guest services; there was a decline in cleanliness, and some basic services were not delivered on. I left out some info in this review--- I may add more later. Reportedly, our issues were delivered to management and we may hear from them soon concerning them. As of this writing, nothing has happened. Would we come back? I don’t think we would recommend it at this point for what we paid. Perhaps if it was half the price, then perhaps I would. There were way too many issues for what we paid that made our stay less than enjoyable. Fix that bathrooms, clean the paths, block off that sewage smell, and make sure your guest services phone reception actually does something when they’re called.…
The room was very nice. Clean, good bed plenty of space and a nice balcony. A young man at the desk in our lobby Jorge Perez Martinez was extremely pleasant and helpful. The Coral Level is an upgrade and has a different check in location than the Bavaro. The facility is nice, but the pool and beach were crowded. We were scuba diving in the morning and by afternoon, all beach chairs and pool chairs were taken. The main issue we had was the food, which was mediocre. The buffet service areas are small and were very crowded at lunch and dinner. I would rate this facility a 3, except for the staff who were generally nice and helpful which boosted my rating to a 4.
Went to this property in December with my friends and was thoroughly impressed. I have been to many all inclusive resorts all over the Caribbean, and consider myself to be well traveled. Knowing that this property was a 4.5 star I have to say that they exceeded my expectations. Donald and Joel at the front desk were amazing. Donald put us in a fabulous room that was within a short walking distance to everything - especially the pool and beach. The room was impeccably clean and renovated. They have water stations set up outside to refill your water bottles so bring your own big one! We had Joel do photo shoots for us in the lobby lol - and can honestly say that he became our friend... super cool, happy, fun - eager to please, gentleman. The food in all of the restaurants is above average compared to other 4.5 star properties on the Island hands down! We were always warmly welcomed by Yanilda and Edwin, saving our table for us in the buffet. Very kind people. They even taught us some Spanish. Adonis (server) is absolutely adorable and always smiling! I feel like we saw him in every restaurant. Listen, these people work hard and they seem happy to do so... that says a lot about a property! I'm in the service industry so great service is very imperative to me. We walked the beach extensively and our section was the cleanest! No seaweed. Other friends were at the Majestic at the same time and we were shocked to see the amount of plastic straws littering the beach. Way to go Iberostar for going "straw free" .. Its a small step, but adds up! The entertainment at this property is great. If you get to meet Guillermo at the towel hut/pool area... Give him props because he is actually a very talented salsa dancer! Mad skills! If you get the chance - dance with these guys! They are all amazing! I thought it was super classy how the entertainment staff would collect people from the audience and dance with them after or before shows. Bugs Bunny is the entertainment manager - you can't miss him. He's going to be the BIGGEST guy on the resort. I have never seen a man of that size be able to dance like that! He's always smiling and in a great mood, and obviously sets the tone for the team. Super fun games to keep the party going all day with this team! Lastly, they have probably the best gym I have ever seen at an all inclusive. It's in the Dominicana side - a short walk. I own a gym/wellness centre.. so this is important to me. Full service gym and spa right on the property. It's actually very professional, clean and beautifully designed. - with GOOD equipment Hallelujah! I would definitely go back to this property!…
