From the moment we stepped off the plane to the moment we stepped back on the plane (a week later) the customer service was fantastic. First great experience, our transportation company, Jhonassy Brea with Transekur, was extremely friendly and helpful. She walked us to our private suv and introduced our driver, Luis. He brought us safely to our hotel. As did our driver on the way back to the airport, Orlando. What I really like about Transekur is they send the drivers information (name, picture, license plate) prior so you know who to look for. Second, our concierge representative, Moises Medina. Even though it’s not butler service if you were to go to Sandals or Secrets, Moises really went above and beyond. He made sure my birthday and my husband’s was special. He went out of his way to find me a specific pistachio cake and it was delicious! He was great! The hotel itself is showing its age. The food was just OK. Muoi was our favorite. The fried rice was fantastic. The phone in our room was broken so could not order room service. I think it was effects from the hurricane. Melia does need to step up their game if they want to compete with the Margaritaville, Sandals, or Secrets. Third great experience, the Melia Caribe Lobby Bar. The best bartender, hands down is Pedro! Drinks were awesome and was always on top of them. Get a drink from him. You won’t regret it. Lastly, Santo the sommelier at Alma and the American Grill. We ordered a bottle of wine that we didn’t fancy however Santo made it up to us. He made arrangements for us to have a private dinner on property. His friend is a chef and made us whatever we wanted and it was heavenly! Overall, you can’t beat the price for what you get. The customer service outweighed anything negative or outdated.

This was our second visit to the Melia resort in Punta Cana, and if this is even possible it exceeded our first visit last year! For starters, the staff remembered us and greeted warmly. Our attending concierge Humberto was so attentive, welcoming and professional that we felt like we were visiting a family member rather than a large resort. I visited several times the Riviera Restaurant, especially after we met Francisco Diaz (the King of the Riviera Restaurant). He is an outstanding person and the best waiter. He made special my wedding anniversary!! Thanks Francisco! My family and I were very impressed with attention even to move from one place to another with in the resort was easy specially after we met Luis. He treaded us like a VIP. Transportation was excellent. Our Ning by were also special! We were every night at the main lobby for the shows and party. We met Maria, a sweet person; she always was pending that we did not runout of stings 🍻🥂 Another heartwarming gesture was the chocolate strawberries, the champagne, and the run. We will be back! Thank you, The Level!!!

Great getaway for couples. REALLY friendly people, the staff and service always made sure you were ok and if they could be of any more service. But, our concierge (Greydin) was for lack of a better phrase....f*ckin amazing!! He would go literally out of the way for my wife and I. He made the stay more than any guest could have imagined!!

We’ve been coming to this property for 10+ years. The resort itself shows it’s age a bit within the rooms, but they’ve vastly upgraded their restaurant facilities, although the food was just ok at some of them. We stayed at the Level and used the Level pool that was super clean each day and has a nice swim up bar, and the restaurant Riviera. The only negative is this area is super far from the beach and other pools. They have trains that run the property and they say they run regularly, but personal opinion is it’s less than regular. All that said- the service we experienced from the entire staff on this trip was phenomenal and more than made up for any “complaints” about the property. Our concierge was Moises Medina, he really bent over backwards to make sure we were pleased, whether it was rides around the resort, getting a special cake made and decorating the room for my wife’s birthday, and sending us daily activities and schedules. We hung out at the lobby bar most evenings after dinner and the bartenders are super friendly, Pedro was great and we talked baseball most nights. Santo is a sommelier (fancy wine guy for those of us that don’t speak wine) and he was super accommodating when we weren’t a huge fan of a bottle we bought, and made arrangements for us to have a nice dinner with a chef on property that he is friendly with. All in all, really good birthday trip for us that was made special by the staff. Definitely recommend!

Overall we had a great stay at the Meliá Caribe beach resort. It was super clean and the rooms were lovely! Jose Medino was our trip assistant and he was great, such awesome customer service with a smile. He also helped organize a birthday cake and gathering for my boyfriend which he loved! Thank you Jose for a great experience overall. Everyone was super helpful our whole time there and we stayed for about a week! I would also like to compliment Yiajara who worked at Tortufo every morning for breakfast. She was always so friendly, made sure our coffee cups were always filled and she was the reason we kept waking up for breakfast every morning! I would highly recommend the Meliá to any friends and family in the future. Thanks for a wonderful trip! :)

We went to Meliá Caribe for my birthday week and had a blast. From the delicious food, our comfortable and clean room, beautiful beach, great pool and the excellent service of our butler Moises Medina who got us the reservation for the restaurant I wanted for my birthday dinner and always made sure we were having a good time. This was our first trip with our 11 month year old son and it did not disappoint. We upgraded to The Level and I believe it made things the most comfortable and enjoyable to us, we gained access to a private buffet, private check in (took less than 10 min) and pool area. The best part of all was our concierge, Yvon, who quickly learned our needs and took out the chaos/stress of booking dinners, room requests and ensuring we had lots of water in our room for us to make bottles for our son. He checked in with us twice a day and was always accessible if we had questions. In regards to food, the A La Cartes were fantastic - although we couldn’t try all because some were adults only, however there was plenty of variety for us to try something new each night. The beach snack bar for The Level had amazing food and we preferred it over the buffets for lunch. Lastly, there was plenty of beach and pool area for everyone and was cleaned thoroughly daily. The splash pad was the icing on the cake for us, and our son loved it. Between the lobby and swimming areas, we were able to have a constant change of scenery on this resort and would recommend it to any family (or couple).

I meant to write this review sooner but was dealing with a lot. Let me start off by saying I have been to punta Cana before and travel every 3 months or so and always stay at 4 or 5 star resorts. The hotel we stayed last time in Punta Cana was fully booked and since this vacation was a last minute getaway we didn’t have many options. We chose this hotel based on the reviews and quickly realized this resort doesn’t really cater to Americans and the standard of what you would expect at 4 star resort was completely different. The problems first arose after check in. We prepaid the room ahead of time and when we checked in I made them aware I didn’t have the same card with me that I booked but they saw it was paid in full so they took a different card for incidentals. Once I got to my room 10 minutes later I was asked to come down there was a mistake and I needed to pay for the room again, after some time they realized their error and apologized. The room itself was one of the biggest the hotel offered however it was very damp in the room and later we discovered huge cockaroches we had to cover the vent in our bathroom to prevent them from coming in. We also were eaten alive by mosquitos this resort doesn’t spray and our room was infested with mosquitoes no matter how hard we tried to get rid of them. My poor children had bumps literally all over their bodies. We wanted to cancel the rest of our stay and find a different hotel but we were told we wouldn’t get a refund on the cancelled days so we stayed. The hotel is huge and it was difficult to get around they have trains but you have to wait. The wait during the day isn’t bad but one night we waited and the train never came so my kids and I walked 30 minutes back from the lobby to our rooms it was horrible. The staff is so unfriendly and it completely ruined our trip. We kept getting haggled for everything no one could help us get reservations for dinner either. Which is odd because the restaurants aren’t good. The food was mediocre at best we ventured off the resort and had the best food in punta Cana (Noah.. and Jellyfish). The beach was horrible!! That’s what really got us we could have dealt with the horrible mosquitos and unpleasant staff and bad food but the beach totally ruined the trip. The beach was covered in sea weed it was disgusting you had to take a boat to actually see clear and nice water. The best time we had was when we left the beach and took a boat ride somewhere else. We’ve been to punta Cana but never experienced this. The seaweed just really hits this area and the hotels aren’t doing enough to rid the sand and water of it. Checkout- this is where they got us. We went to check out and we were told we needed to pay for the room. I informed them I prepaid already and they said that I needed to pay again and that they would refund the original amount I was charged. I got upset because I didn’t bring that card with me so i put money on that card for this trip and didn’t want it to be refunded to that card . They had me call my bank to show proof we paid which we did and we showed the confirmation but they said we could not leave the resort until we paid a second time. I informed them that I tried to cancel when I got here because I was unhappy with the resort and was told I already prepaid and couldn’t get a refund but now when I go to checkout they can’t see I prepaid? I finally gave up because I didn’t want to miss my plane so I used a different card and paid for the room again. I was assured I would be refunded by the manager on duty. Well I never got that refund I contacted them by phone and email and never got to a manger, finally someone emailed me saying I was refunded and it was just initiated two weeks after my checkout but still no refund a month went by no refund my bank contacted them and later on they handled it as fraud because they wouldn’t refund the money and kept the double charge This was a horrible vacation from rude staff, horrible rooms, horrible beach and then a horrible check out we would never ever come here again. Trust me go somewhere else I’ve never had such a horrible experience and have travelled the world. I’m from Chicago a big city I kno fine dining, I know good resorts .. this is not it you will be greatly disappointed if you think this hotel will be any sort of luxury . I would give this place negative stars if I could. Again I’ve been to punta Cana and stayed at Hyatt Ziva and Zilara absolutely loved that place super friendly staff I had to push them to take the tips at this resort everyone was haggling us for everything and jacking up the prices on us once they realized we didn’t speak Spanish . It was a world of a difference, that hotel was luxury friendly staff and good entertainment. This hotel had absolutely none of that . Big waste of money that coulda been spent somewhere else

I stayed at Melia Caribe with my husband and 4-year-old son for 7 nights. Our room was a level grand suite, which was very spacious and provided us access to all the level benefits, including a special check in area, restaurants, pool, and beach area, as well as a concierge for the duration of our stay. Our concierge, Hector Jose, was wonderful! He was very informative, he checked in with us regularly via What’s App, and arranged all of our dinner reservations. We enjoyed the food at the resort although the options for young children who are picky eaters is somewhat limited. The beach was lovely and the water was relatively calm. The level restaurant on the beach, Barefoot Grill, was a wonderful spot to eat with amazing views. The bartender there, Juan Del Rosario, made excellent drinks! Because it is a public beach, there were a lot of people trying to sell items but we politely declined and they left us alone. Our son absolutely loved the water park and even my husband and I found it pretty fun. My son also had a great time at the Kids Club. The grounds of the resort are absolutely beautiful, very lush and tropical. Although the resort is large, it is easy to get around. There are shuttles that run regularly but we walked for the most part. We got massages at the spa while we were there and the massages were very nice but the spa facilities were lacking. It’s also worth noting that we were at the resort during a hurricane and the resort handled everything very smoothly. I strongly recommend doing the level upgrade if you go to this resort - it absolutely elevated our experience. We look forward to returning!
