It is a very nice but quiet hotel, not at the beach but close to it. We had a good stay. Buffet could have been with more variety but the specialty restaurant Mina was really a great experience. Very nice for couples.

Hotel's Favourite
So this was our first trip to DR. I came across this hotel within a hotel and noticed that it opened less than a year ago, a big plus in my book. There is a very nice Paradisus hotel, managed by Spanish chain Melia, then there is the Reserve at Paradisus and then there is the Grand Reserve which is where we stayed. Check in was smooth. We were provided with a welcome drink and assigned our butler. He took care of all restaurant reservations, tours etc. The unit was huge and consisted of a living room with a sleeper sofa, kitchenette, Nespresso machine, all kitchen utensils were included. There was a sound bar to which you could connect your phone or I-Pad to play music. The living room opened onto a big balcony with a jacuzzi, and nice outdoor furniture. The bedroom had a king size bed, another flat screen TV. Marble covered bathroom consisted of a stand alone bath tub, a separate shower, and a separate toilet area. Service was twice a day and really good. Restaurants on the premises included a steak house, a couple of sea food restaurants, Japanese, buffet, an outdoor café etc. Restaurants were above average but that's it. Buffet had plenty of options for breakfast and lunch. There was a huge pool which was never crowded and several other big pools. Even though the hotel was at 70% occupancy it really did not feel that way. From the hotel you can take tours to Sanoa Island and to Santo Domingo. There were 2 shuttles one to the beach (five minute ride) and one to the mall. You can skip the mall, it was really nothing special. At the beach you also had all kinds of amenities, including very nice lounges, towels, a bar and so forth. Overall, we had a great stay in DR and I can definitely recommend this five star, new resort.

My family vacation twice a year not including my vacations with my girlfriends and I'll have to say this was the worst experience so far especially considering how much I spent for this trip. First of all, the shuttle that was included in our vacation package did not show up to pick us up and even though, we didn't mind paying $40 as we just wanted to get our vacation started and start the fun, the workers around the resort kept directing our taxi driver to different resorts even after we told them multiple times where we were staying! it took us about 30mins and a freaking golf cart ride to get us to the right hotel and of course by that time, we were all exhausted!! I traveled with my son who is 6 and daughter who is 4 and by the time we eventually arrived into our room after all the fraustrating dealings with multiple front desk agents and the language barriers, all we wanted to do was just sleep and hope the next day would be better. The next day we went for breakfast and the food was horrible! I have stayed at a Melia resort before in Cancun and I remembered it for the awesome food, also I have stayed at the Majestic resort before in Punta Cana and the food was not excellent but it was great. I was so disappointed that I spoke so highly about this resort to my husband based on my previous Melia experience and the grade of the hotel but everything fell short of our expectations. There's no nightlife, the hotel was very scanty but yet every night, we were told by our concierge (who was one of the worst we have ever had) that most of the good restaurants were sold out, I wonder by who? ghosts? I will definitely not be back to this place! The staff here were rude other than 1 lady who worked at the kids club and looked like she actually loves her job. Also this is the first all inclusive hotel that will not have great liquor in the room other than some beers and sodas in a small fridge!!! I was shocked! even the resorts that were lesser rated had better alcohol in rooms! When I asked for more drinks, they brought us a bottle of some cheap wine and that was it! Anyway, this was an absolute waste of money (we paid double since we booked last min), time and food was horrid! Writing this review brought back bad memories that I'd rather not remember. I hyped this vacation so much to my husband and kids and we were left disappointed!

We've been to DR lots of times, and it was our second time at Grand Reserve. We absolutely loved it first time, and were happy to be there the second time. The services, in our opinion, keep improving. The facilities are well maintained, everything looks clean and taken care of. Nice beach, although its not very close, but you can use a car ( they run on regular basis between hotel and the beach ), but its just 10 minuts away, so we personally liked walking-we enjoyed looking around. Very cool bar at the beach, the bartenders were very attentive and friendly. We especially enjoyed the drinks made by Kersy Morillo Very spacious rooms, but here we must give a liitle critic to whoever is responsible for the housekeeping-it could be much better - we had to call number of times to get coffe cups in the room, to restock our fridge, to take out wet towels in the evening, etc... The food was great, even better then it was in May ( our first visit ), especially the Buffet. Good service in general, but the breakfast could be not so slow sometimes. Since it was not our first time, it was really great to see many familiar faces among the personal, and reconnect with people who we now consider our friends. Our butler-Esteban Itivo, (we met him in May, and asked for him to be assigned to us again ) thank you so much for making our stay so pleasurable! He was super patient and attentive to all our needs, every morning he was the first one to great us over the phone, took care of all reservations, all the small details that can spoil any vacation. Thanks to him we felt like home at the resort. Outstanding service! We applaud you, Esteban! and we would like you to be our butler for all our future vacations And many-many thanks goes to Sheila Garcia! You are amazing, girl! Professional, friendly, true master of mixology, she creates her own drinks and she is an incredible company! We loved spending time with you. We recommend this resort, and we are 100% coming back

My stay is as amazing definitely would recommended. Everything was well maintained and clean and the service was great from all the staff. Everyone had a welcoming smile and and was willing help. Would recommended this resort to anyone. Sulenny was a wonderful concierge she answered all our questions and made sure our whole trip went smoothly. Gerardo was our bike tour guide and he was fantastic and made sure we were all safe and gave us a excellent tour of the resort and every time we saw him he made sure to stop by and and check in us!

Yes they have bottled water safe to drink, and the hotel also has an internal water filtration system which they have on taps . The baby cribs don’t know about that since I do not have and infant but I’m pretty sure they have them.

Yes they usually have different entertainment activities but there is nothing to worry as most of the rooms are far from it.

You are correct about inner rooms. If you are circle member you’d be in building 5 or 6 and I don’t think there would be vehicular traffic on outer rooms. As for non members you’d be in 1 2 3 or 4. I’m not positive but think outer rooms in 2 or 3 should have the less traffic. Sorry I can’t provide more info
