Ngorongoro Lodge member of Meliá Collection is located in the heart of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, next to the Ngorongoro Crater. It is almost the same distance from the Meliá Serengeti Lodge member of Meliá Collection (156km) and the Gran Meliá Arusha (164km) hotels, and also near Kilimanjaro Airport. Boasting an exceptional location, its interior and exterior design is in perfect harmony with its surroundings. Its facilities and services are respectful of the natural environment. It provides an infinity pool with views of the crater, a spa and a range of unique experiences. Every detail in the very spacious rooms has been designed to immerse guests in the culture of Tanzania. They provide a wide range of comforts and decoration inspired by local artisans, giving the spaces huge personality and character. They have views of the crater, a tea and coffee service, a flat-screen TV, a bathroom with a rainshower, and a selection of pillows and books. The restaurant offers dishes made with local ingredients and products, inspired by the aromas of the region with some added Asian influences. The finest ingredient, however, is undoubtedly the views of the crater at both The Crater Restaurant and The Crater Grill, with its fire and charcoal celebrating the origin of Ngorongoro. The hotel is the starting point for unique experiences such as a 4x4 safari, a walking safari, a luxury picnic on the edge of the 610-meter-deep crater, or visiting a Maasai village. This was the most beautiful hotel with spectacular views! Pictures can’t even begin to capture the beauty. My daughter & I were moved to tears upon entry through the beautiful double doors! The wall of windows overlooks the gorgeous Ngorongoro Crater. Sunsets are amazing. Don’t leave without taking a dip in the romantic infinity pool overlooking the crater. The family style dinner was superb! They surprised me with a birthday cake since I was lucky enough to spend my birthday there. They brought in a cake singing & dancing! A true delight - the best birthday ever!!! We met the charming manager of this amazing establishment and he was so nice. He obviously is doing a fabulous job running this fantastic property. The Ngorongoro Lodge Meliá Collection is without a doubt the most amazing hotel experience I have ever lived. I recently went as part of my honeymoon in search of an African/Tanzanian Luxury Safari and bumped into the recently opened Meliá lodge. Suffice to say I was blown away by the level of attention to detail, VIP service, and overall blissfulness from the hotel and their staff. From being picked up at Lake Manyara airport (more than an hour away) with a welcome basket full of champagne and snacks, to the day we left, every experience was out of this world. I would 100% recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a luxury, stress free safari experience. To sum up, this is how the hotel blew us away. 1) First and Foremost, the Staff - every single employee of the hotel was extremely friendly, eager to help and welcome us, as well as go beyond their own jobs to provide anything we needed. Mussa was the most amazing guide and already miss his wonderful stories and easy demeanor. He is so insightful and educated about the animals and the Crater. Mary and Enok in the main restaurant were so friendly and happy to chat with us, always with a huge smile! Peter mixed the most splendid drinks at the bar. Ali welcomed us and made sure everything was running smoothly throughout. Ignacio and Lisbetty were incredible managers/directors and knew everything about the hotel and how we could enjoy the crater and the animals. We spent many moments chatting about the history of the country, the area, and how special it is. I am missing a lot of people but this is without a doubt the best part of the hotel. They go far and beyond to treat you special. 2) The hotel itself is jaw-dropping. It has the best view of the crater, has amazing facilities (including gym and pool), beautiful living rooms to chill out after a long game drive and the rooms are so comfortable and beautiful. The moment i walked in i was shocked. Photos don’t do it justice. 3) The food! from boxed breakfast and lunches during game drives to hot lunch and dinners at the hotel, every single thing we ate was delicious. A mix of traditional tanzanian and also international food kept us eating at all times! Will have to go back to the gym after the trip! They even organized a moonlit romantic dinner by a fireplace for our honeymoon (as well as sending a bottle of champagne and roses to our room!) 4) Activities - there is so much to do here. You can take it easy and relax at the hotel as we did after the long journey home, but also explore full day/half day safaris, as well as learn about the culture and the Maasai tribes. There is something for everyone and one is never bored!!! I can keep going on but this experience really left me eager to write this review. I researched alot of other options before opting with Meliá and i’m glad I did. Between the level of luxury + price + comfort, i can’t wait to come back and bring the rest of my family. - Francisco PS. I read some of the other reviews and understand some people had trouble with the staff and communicating with the local employees. But as a foreigner myself, I appreciated that every employee was speaking their second or third languages (in english and Spanish) even if they werent perfect. This hotel is new and everything inside is cozy. Located at the rim of the crater, our the whole hotel including our room and dinner area enjoy a stunning view of the crater. Food was tasty and staff were all very friendly and professional. A wonderful place for us to take a good rest after few days of safari and long driving.

Beautiful hotel with amazing views of Ngorongoro crater, we fell in love with the interior of the hotel, the food was amazing , prepared by Chef Tara. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. I wish the hotel was more in a style of camp, rather then a hotel, nevertheless, we really enjoyed our stay at Melia Lodge.

start with the good things location is sensational, on the rim of the crater, with the whole basin in full view from rooms and especially from balcony in lounge bar area underperforming hotel is not finished regarding renovation, therefore much banging, sawing hammering going on staff very polite, but completely untrained, were unable in many instances to understand requests, given that this hotel us billed as a 5 star, this is just not good enough food mediocre, specifically the sharing dinners and breakfast no safe in room many fixtures and fittings in room were not attached properly to walls or glass shower door this hotel is far from ready to call itself a luxury hotel

I recently visited there with my family. It was perfect! The outlook of the lounge was amazing, Amenities were up to satisfactory, and not to mention the staff there were super professional and helped out in all possible situations. We got introduced to Indian Chef Tara Singh, he was such a polite and professional person. The food was super scrumptious and up to the standards with the best presentation. When you enter the lounge the seating and view are impressive. Location is superb. The rooms are small for the price. Shower is nice to Tanzania standards. But a lot of things are of. There are issues. 1. Some will be solved in time. 2. Some will need a lot of time. 3. Some can’t be solved. In the 2 day stay I spoke 3 times with the manager Liz Perez. The comments are not new for the staff. 1. the hotel is open since July but construction is not finished. A nap after an early came drive? Forget it. Construction noises keep you awake. Pool not ready yet. 2. Staff is poorly trained. Do not disturb sign on the door? Housekeeping enters the room anyway (twice). The food is far below average compared to many 5 star hotels and I stayed in many. In the restaurant too many waiters don’t no what to do, same questions are asked 2-3 times. Amos dit his utmost best to make us feel comfortable but couldn’t make up for his colleagues. This will take a long time to repair. At 1 point the front desk called my wife a liar, well how is that for customer services? 3. The hotel is poorly constructed. Rooms 301-311 are under the restaurant. Around 4AM housekeeping starts to clean the restaurant and terrace and in these rooms you will wake up from them moving heavy furniture over the stone floor. This can’t be solved. Make sure you get another room! So in the end the price is Melia, about €1.200 a night. With our excessive travel experience and my job as a senior business lecturer at the University I would say €500-700 per night would be a fair price for the service offered. At check out the manger offered at last to compensate. All drinks for 2 days were on the house and she would apply by higher management for a discount on the room. I await the outcome. At last, my wife prefered the basic tented camp with bucket shower but a committed team and good food over Melia all day. She would have given this lodge a 1 star rating. The 2nd star is for the view, nice shower. I rest my case. …

Luxury lodge in the middle of nowhere. Recently renovated with tasteful decor. The view of the caldera is indescribable. The hotel is very engaged in the local community and economy. The manager is everywhere watching, engaging and providing the best service available. I am sad to leave.

Beautiful hotel at the mountain edge of ngorongoro crater, with the most amazing view of the crater! The hotel was well equipped and also had great meals on the menu! How do you even find octupus to serve in the middle of the forest! Got chanced to meet the man who runs the Melia hotels in Tanzania and it was a great little conversation. Truly unforgettable views!
