If you want to spend time in the room, don't go here. They are a bit dated.
But if you want nice outdoors, this is the place to go.
Great restaurant with top service and great food. A gorgeous looking bar which leads you to the pool. It is beautiful.
They need to train the staff as they are not very friendly. They have to change the booking system as it took us weeks (literally) to have the reservations done. I had two complaints, which it was just my personal experience, as we went during Christmas holidays, they had parties in the hotel. Loud ones, they didn't take under consideration there would be guests sleeping. They also need to take care of the plants in the balconies on the first floor.
Overall, if you like outdoors, you'll love this. I was trying to look for the three good hotels in the city, not disappointed at all of this one. Good value.

superb location. old but beautiful beatiful, the new administration has been trying to keep the hotel running in several creative ways.

Perhaps the best bar in the city, with also a brand new segafreddo cafe, and the always beautiful pool, somehow compensate with a serious lack of a good place for having breakfast..., and rooms with an urgent need of an update. Friendly, but yet unprepared staff

finally, they should pay attention to the noise from the bar which escalates to the rooms!!

I have to say that the architecture and decoration of the lobby was exquisite. I really thought it was going to be a revamped version of the old Hilton so I decided to give it a try to one of the most expensive hotels in Barquisimeto.

Room was in a third floor so view the view and the breeze was nice. Walking into the room was a pleasant surprise. It has the size of a mini suite with a nice desk and a mini fridge. King size bed with a comfortable mattress and plush pillows.

Room was hot so I changed the thermostat to a nicer temperature. Air came out cooler. Went to take a shower. Bathroom was not that clean. Curtain shower was small so water came out all over the place. Bath tub drainage was plugged so there was a great accumulation of water that stayed there for hours. Came out the shower room was still warm. Opened the balcony doors because you could hear a nice breeze outside and found out that curtains had mold on the top. Lots of it. At that point I was too tired and had a lot of pain so I didn't feel like arguing with some clerk to have something fixed. I'm glad bed was comfortable and breeze was enough to get a good rest.

Next morning during my check out I let the clerk know about the complaints and she said they would have changed my room if I requested it. Oh well, it was my fault for being too lazy to request a change but I still believe that an expensive hotel shouldn't have clogged bath tubs or moldy curtains or a broken AC

After several attempts to reach Mr. Jose Torres, The General Manager and Mrs. Carmen Pedroza, The security supervisor it was impossible to receive a response for my stolen IPad.

Also our Room had a not working safety box and The Balcony door had a broken lock !!

Stay away from this type of Hotel !!!

Barquisimeto is a very pleasant city to visit and to do business in. Its people are nice and helpful. This hotel, previously known as Barquisimeto Hilton, besides wonderful facilities, comfortable rooms and an excellent cuisine is located in a magnificent place, not only for its spectacular view to the Turbio´s river valley, but also for its proximity to the best side of the city and the easiness to get to any place you need to go.
The internal patio with the tallest palm trees I've ever seen is simply a must see.
From now on, everytime that I will stop in Barquisimeto I would lodge at the Jirahara.

Formerly The Barquisimeto Hilton, Hotel Jirahara is located in the East side of the city, considered the wealthiest neighborhood by the locals. However, the area has become so dangerous that guests are no longer advised to walk in the vicinity of the hotel. For those who stayed at the property under the Hilton brand, the decay is radical, from the service standard to the infrastructural elements. The property is being operated at a minimal maintenance and service effort. Even though the hotel is graded and priced as a 5* property, the accommodation offering is mediocre. Starting with the check-in, we were helped after standing in a queue for more than 20 minutes as only one employee was assisting guests for check in and check out even during peak hours. The rooms are old fashioned and the cleaning standard is poor and inconsistent. The breakfast offering is basic with limited choices. In the past, this hotel had the most beautiful common facilities, swimming pool and gardens were a main attraction, this is no longer the case. It seems that there is some work in progress taking place around the viewing deck, however there is no justification for a 5* property to let its construction mess become part of its landscaping. Weekends can be particularly noisy as day visitors are allowed. As there are no rules in terms of alcohol consumption and loud music, what is supposed to be a relaxing experience at a high cost becomes a great disappointment. Lowering your expectations may make your stay easier at Hotel Jirahara. On a positive note, there is a protected "iguana" colony running free in the green area of the main entrance, a beautiful reminder of the potential that Venezuela has to offer to tourists which can only be achieved in a more organized and service driven culture.

Staff is extremely friendly and eager to help. Hotel is aged and needs renovations. Rooms show this fact. Anyway I had a satisfactory stay. Property is situated on a very nice area, pool facilities are located on a beautiful garden. Very good italian restaurant on premises. Breakfast was good at the cafeteria.Located on a nice part of the city and few minutes taxi ride to the shopping center Sambil and local BRM Airport.

I was there for 2 nights. I have chosen this particular hotel since I used to live in that city. The second day there was a problem with the key to our room, we couldn't open the door the main master key was brought then they say they would bring up a new set of keys. At 11pm my husband and I got back from a dinner party, we couldn't open the door again... to make it short, they finally opened it at 2 am. It was a total nightmare, and we only had a "so sorry, sit down and wait. Go to another room for a couples of hours till we open your room". The next day we checked out, they offered a refund (something like 50%) for that night, I am still waiting. The swimming pool is nice, but full of kids taking swimming lessons, so of course you would
