Comfortable stay in the heart of fuengirola. Third time for us staying at cafe / Hotel La Morena. If its five star luxury your looking for, move on. This typical Spanish hotel is great value for money & the guys who run it are doing a good job. Yes it's a little dated but that's the appeal for us. If like us you don't want to spend a lot of money on accommodation (more cash for socialising) then give this place a try. Good luck Manuel & Miguel
I came alone and became a family member. The welcome by the hotel manager Manuel was so warm and helpful, I felt completely comfortable from the first step in this family-run hotel. The rooms have their very own charm due to the antique, well-kept furniture. Everything is very clean, very well maintained. I slept extremely well. The rooms have air conditioning and even a fan. In the morning I was greeted by Miguel, who runs the hotel together with Manuel. The breakfast was incredible, whether continental or egg dishes - Miguel leaves nothing to be desired. Always has new ideas and is behind the bar and in the kitchen with all his heart. As soon as I got up, I was looking forward to meeting Miguel and having breakfast. I also liked the hotel so much because it is also very popular among the locals. You meet the local people who come for coffee, beer or lunch. I thought that was really great, as a tourist among the local population. And then I have to mention Marianne, she recommended so many excursion destinations & tips and beautiful places to me, I was so grateful, you wouldn't even get such a service in a tourist office. An incredible service - for me it is very clear, I will be back! To the best hotel on the south coast of Spain. Thank you from the bottom of my heart, the whole team.…
We enjoyed clean and comfortable top floor accommodation with balcony over looking the main street. The bathroom was spotless, the bed comfortable and plenty of storage space for two suitcases and bags. There was a useful refrigerator for our soft drinks and the AC quiet and cool. The hotel is very central and we appreciated the nearby bakery and restaurant close to the main bus station.
Friendly and very helpful, clean rooms with all you require , mini fridge and good air conditioning . Great restaurant for breakfast and lunch , tapas are delicious 😋 I love the Fact it’s totally Spanish ! I was booked in for 3 nights but due to a family emergency I had to leave one day early they didn’t hesitate to refund me the extra night ! I would most certainly recommend them !a little jewel amongst all the big hotels! Thank you !wish I could have finished my break but as Arnie would say “ I’ll be back “ 😉
Super friendly owners, they're very keen at helping us out. They've extended my stay with no questions, given great recommendations (worth listening). They also have a great passion for food and they freshly cook daily! 10outof10 absolute superstars! They make sure you have a lovely welcome and feel like home for your entire stay! Lovely with my 2.5years old too!
We had stayed here earlier in the year and found it to be perfect for what we wanted. We returned to find the the owner Mercedes had moved on and the magic that this place had was gone too. No more menu del dia and delicious tapas dishes, gone too the locals who had been out shopping, workmen popping in for a cana on their way home from work and tourists looking for a genuine spanish bar. The new owners where very nice and tried their best but I feel they may struggle to follow in Mercedes shoes.
Great hotel for our short break in fuengirola. Convenient for local restaurants and shopping..great place for links to other areas on the costa as train and bus stations close by. We will be booking to stay again when we next visit family in the area.
I came across La Morena by chance when I went into the café/bar attached to the hotel for a beer and ended up staying 5 nights at the hotel. The hotel is one of the best hotels I have ever come across on my travels. The host, Mercedes and her Husband are the perfect hosts and make you feel very welcome and speak excellent English. My room was at the rear of the hotel overlooking the quiet street. It was ensuite with a good sized double bed, tv, fridge and cosy armchair great for reading and relaxing. It was very clean and was a real home from home. The bar attached to the hotel serves tapas and a menu del dia and a small draught beer ( Cana) was 1 euro. The tapas were excellent and good value and the bar had a nice atmosphere and the staff were friendly and helpful, Rafa, was the barman who looked after me during my stay. In summary the hotel is an excellent place to stay with lots of bars, restaurants and shops on your doorstep and I would recommend it to anyone who wants to stay at a warm, friendly family run hotel who look after their guests. A real gem!…
My wife and I have just returned from our second visit to the La Morena and once again have been extremely pleased with everything. We requested a room with the larger balcony, which we received and a kettle, which was also provided. The room had a fridge and safe (at no extra charge) and the sheets and towels were changed every day. Bar food was very good and the owner and staff couldn't have been more friendly and helpful. We'll definitely be back next year .
lovely and friendly atmosphere , friendly and helpful staff, rooms clean and cosy, nice little bar and good breakfast available at property only thing missing is not being able to have a cup of tea or coffee in room when you wake up
