Detailed Reviews
Location is great as it's next to the railway station and just a 7 minute walk to the bus stop to get into Dublin City Centre (buses to the airport). Unfortunately, it was a brief stay as were were visiting family for the evening and only stayed the one night however the beds were comfy and rooms are a good size and nice and clean. We missed breakfast so cannot comment on this nor any other amenities/facilities in the B&B.

Arrived here very late to be greeted by Billy, the owner, what a gentleman he was and very hospitable, the room was more than sufficient, en-suite bathroom with a power shower, place was spotless and well maintained. Free secure parking off street was a huge bonus.
Breakfast was great and enjoyable, I wish I had more time to enjoy it, but needed to leave for a meeting 100kms away!
Both Billy and Theresa were perfect hosts and I would return here anytime, if you want a good spot in mullingar to rest, pick the Railway B&B, great location too for the walkers, near centre of town, no more than 2 minutes walk.
10/10 for service, quality and being great hosts!

In this gem of a town (Mullingar), not only will you find several pubs in every block, but on the main strip is the warm and welcoming Railway House B & B. My husband, adult daughter and I found their 2 bedroom apartment with mini kitchen an absolutely perfect fit for our 2 night stay Dec. 24-26th, 2018. The apartment was clean and comfortable and had all the essentials we needed. To boot, the property borders a canal that has a lovely walkway along the picturesque waterfront, perfect for an evening stroll.
The proprietors, Bill and Teresa, have provided rooms for over 20 years and were both friendly and professional. They were sweet and non-intrusive and we found ourselves lingering over breakfast with them as they shared stories with us. After breakfast, we stepped out the front door onto the main street that runs through the quaint, friendly and very safe town. The locals were cheerful and helpful and made us feel at home, even though it was the busy Christmas holiday.
We learned that the Mayor is trying to bring a major Celtic music festival to Mullingar in the next few years; honestly, we immediately started planning our return to Mullingar and we wouldn't stay anywhere but Railway House Bed and Breakfast. Slainte!

I visited Mullingar for the weekend and stayed at the railway House Bed and Breakfast. Mullingar .on arrival at the bed and breakfast I was greeted by The Host treesa. And I was given a very warm welcome. as I went up to my bedroom which was room 6 it was very clean and very respectable .the bed was very comfortable to sleep in with lots of clean and comfortable bedding. the bathroom and shower as it was an ensuite. Was also extremely clean. the shower entrance is slightly small . But the shower was very easy to regulate the water. They provided tea coffee and biscuits in the room with a portable colour television if you want milk you would have to ask Theresa. Because.as she said. She likes to provide you with fresh milk and not them little cartons that sometimes go off. So if there is no milk all you have to do is ask her and she will be more than happy to provide you with fresh milk whenever you want it. The house was beautifully decorated for Christmas and very clean and respectable. I felt very comfortable and welcomed into this bed and breakfast. In the morning I went down for breakfast and I was provided with about 4 to 5 different types of cereals. There was a different flavour yoghurts which you could choose from. She also provided Actimel drink alongside that there was fresh orange juice. tea or coffee and then obviously she would cook a breakfast for you bacon egg sausage tomatoes that kind of things. It was very tasty freshly made and it did me for the day .Teresa and her husband billy if they had time they would always welcome a chat with you to make you feel at home . they really are a very very nice couple. And I would not hesitate to call into this bed and breakfast again and stay for the night or for the weekend if I was up in Mullingar which I plan to go again sometime after the new year and I would definitely be booking this bed and breakfast I would recommend this bed and breakfast to anybody. It is comfortable they make you welcome. And you will be well fed well looked after and well respected as a customer. I could not recommend the railway house bed and breakfast enough.
So thank you Teresa and billy for the great welcome you gave me and the great weekend I had in Mullingar which reminds me to tell you the bed and breakfast is right next to the city centre or should I say town centre it is only about 30 seconds walk to the shops. And just to end this review just a word of warning if you are in number six bedroom they are big windows that has pull down blinds my advice to you is when you get up in the morning. Do not open the blinds until you are fully dressed lol because people can see in from the Street. And see everything that god gave you especially the toilet keep the blinds down for obvious reasons. Until you have finished . Other than that have a great time in Mullingar and don't forget to book into the railway House Bed and Breakfast Mullingar.

On arrival all seemed well, only to discover that the deluxe room I had booked and pre paid for had been given to someone else, they said we would be upgraded to a deluxe apartmentvwe where then lead out of the B&B down the street to another door and the horror began the stench in the enterence hall and stair way was Vile in the apartment there was no hot water, heater's did not work and the drains where blocked. On trying to discuss the issues the only offer made was for us to use the shower in a room that the guests had checked out of early and had not been cleaned yet. Absolutely disgusting. I have had to give a rating of 1 star to enter this review I would have given it no stars if that had been possible.

The day before I was due to arrive here with my family I got a call from the landlady.
She felt there might be a problem and wanted to confirm my booking.
It turns out there was a serious problem...they had reserved me a double room despite the fact that I had reserved an apartment (with my credit card details) for 4 people a month prior to this call!
I had even spoken to the landlord in 2 separate phone calls about my booking!
They were very apologetic and I understand you can't build a room in a day....extremely disappointed with this gross lack of service non the less!
Beware!!!

I stayed at the Railway B&B for 2 nights. Billy & Theresa were so welcoming and friendly. My room had everything I needed, study desk, TV, comfortable bed, tea & coffee facilities with biscuits, good size en suite. The breakfast was delicious and the location was perfect it was in walking distance to everything. I will be back in Mullingar in October & November and have booked to stay here again. Can't recommend it enough 👍👍👍

I was walking the National Famine Way and this was a real find for me as it is right on the route. Great value for money and a perfect location, central to everything.
The owner and his good wife were 2 real characters; really nice friendly genuine people who made me feel truly welcome in their home. Proud of their town and willing to pass on their knowledge of where to go and what to do. Great chats to make you feel right at home. This to me is the real benefit of staying in a place like this as opposed to a hostel or hotel.
I got one of the finest breakfasts I have ever had – a feast fit for a king. It literarily had everything. It really set me up for a great days walking. Outstanding!
Lovely room with a dual-view and containing absolutely everything I needed. Nice comfortable bed and good shower meant I was well rested and refreshed and ready for the trail again next day. Perfect stay.
