Having already spent 4 days in Ireland, we were very agreeably impressed with the friendliness, kindness and helpfulness of its people. We arrived in Mullingar at sunset tired and ready for a good night's sleep. We were on the main road and stopped at 2 places that were full before we found Petitswood House. What a welcome awaited us! We were greeted at the door by a radiant Pamela, our hostess, who seemed genuinely delighted to see us. The house seemed to be Victorian--stately and full of gilded and beautiful antiques and lovely decor, but our hostess treated us as if we were treasured family. She showed us to a delightful and soothing room situated at the back over the conservatory with an up-to-date bathroom and hot shower. Traveling sometimes causes insomnia for me, so I was all the more thrilled to see that the prospect from our window looked out on a beautiful, large meadow surrounded by trees. Who would have thought--an oasis of country right in the heart of the town! The bed was so comfortable and I slept well--not a sound was heard. The next morning we were treated to a delicious Irish breakfast in an elegant dining room. The freshly baked scones were studded with fruit and the best of our whole trip. Before we left, Pamela asked us again if there was anything she could get us and I mentioned that I had just caught a cold and asked for a small jar of salt to take with me with which to gargle, and that I usually only have oranges to treat it. She immediately provided not only the salt but a bag of oranges, napkins and a knife! I will never forget her kindness, nor her lovely, welcoming home.

Pamela and Gerry couldn't have nicer or more welcoming from the time we arrived. The rooms were scrupulously clean and spacious....Oh and ever so quiet and peaceful !! Gerry went over and above the call of duty when he insisted on driving us the Hotel for the wedding reception...and boy can they cook a breakfast...mmmm.....Would thoroughly recommend this quiet place to anyone without hesitation. Thanks to both of you for making our stay so pleasant.

This B&B is Cosy and Clean. The Rooms were laid out in an Old World Charm. The Rooms were well heated and were a welcome solice for the cold weather outside. The B&B is quite large and despite this it has a cerain intimacy about it. You can relax in the Television Room downstairs and the Breakfast is well catered for. I stayed here one night but I would have certainly stayed longer if given the time. It certainly gets my wholehearted approval if you are thinking of visiting Mullingar or you just want to escape away. You cannot go wrong with a stay here.

We got lucky when we found this place. When we pulled in, there was a sign that said "no vacancy". When we were getting back into the car, Mr. Farrell came out and invited us in. He puts out that sign so he can say no to any "undesirable" people.

The room was very nice; the beds were extremely comfortable. Mr. Farrell was very helpful about telling us about the room as well as giving us recommendations for dinner. (Which turned out to be the best dinner in Ireland I had.)

The breakfast was excellent with many choices. After breakfast he helped us plan the rest of our two days in Ireland and even gave us an extra map that he had.

I highly recommend this B and B.

We were welcomed by this very warmhearted family, very helpful and kind. The room was very nice and clean, the breakfast excellent. The town center can be easily reached, and the hosts will provide with advice of nice adresses to go and have a drink or dinner.

We stayed here when attending a wedding in Mullingar. The Farrell family are so welcoming; I really enjoyed my stay there. It’s a great location if you are attending a wedding at the Park hotel, less than a 5 minute walk. I would recommend this B&B to anyone visiting the area. Breakfast was really good too.

We recently stayed in Petitswood House as we were attending a family wedding. This is a beautiful house and the Farrell family so welcoming. We would definitely stay here again if only for the fantastic breakfasts! Strongly recommend you request Room 4 as it is so roomy and comfortable. Look forward to meeting this lovely family again.
